The Florence & Dizzee Rascal "You Got The Dirtee Love" got me thinking. How many mashup singles over the years have become legitimate chart hits in the UK?

I can think of a few right off the bat:

Chuckie & LMFAO - "Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girl"

Stuntmasterz - "The Ladyboy Is Mine" (Brandy/Monica & Modjo)

Mason & Princess Superstar - "Perfect (Exceeder)"

David Guetta Vs The Egg - "Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away)"

Mylo Vs Miami Sound Machine - "Dr. Pressure"

That's a good kickoff start - name a few others!

But the originals of those 4 songs were by Beyoncé, Katrina & The Waves, Bon Jovi and Usher respectively so they don't count as mash-ups. They're just medleys (of two songs). The same applies to Peter Kay's CIN single (although that was 7 songs) and Jedward - UP(IIB).

Technically though You Got The Dirtee Love isn't a mashup, cos it's a live performance. A mashup has to be made out of two existing recordings.
Didn't Texas have a mash-up version of Say What You Want, also from the Brits?
Chicane and Natasha Bedingfield - Bruised Water

^That too.

Peter Kay, Jedward, Florence, they're all medleys not mash-ups.

TBF, you could hear the two "mashed-up" ("I'm walking on sunshine" in the background while the chorus of Halo is being sung for example) even if the two original recordings weren't literally mashed-up.

Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head - wish it could have been released as a proper single

I do like my mash up of Children and Forgot About Dre. Not in your face, just understated and subtle.

Horny as a dandy - Mousse T Feat. The Dandy Warhols
