The thing is that I fully respect all the six ladies, they are all extremely talented and it is disgusting that this situation ever happens. But I really would like the Sugababes 4.0 under the different name. Not 'Sugababez' or 'Sugarbabes' - the entirely new name. Yes - they will lose the brand, but they might create their own, and if Heidi, Amelle and Jade prove their credibility and staying power they won't need a Sugababes back-catalogue and their name: their will be shining on their own.

I agree, I think they're should be an agreement 4.0 get songs past post-mutya and 1.0 can have the rest. But Heidi still get's royalties and can still do a select few songs(and the same for 1.0).

But the paperwork with all the contracts will be crazy and the 'Sugababes' brand being signed to rock and island who would get that contract 1.0 or 4.0? But I don't see why everyone is taking it out on 4.0 girls personally(especially Heidi)

It was Mutya who started this case not Keisha!

I dont understand this at all. Siobhan, keisha, and Mutya left the group so why do they want to own the right to the Sugababes name. They should of taught about that before they left. The 3 of them are just jealous because they are doing f*** all else with them selves while the current line up are doing well
I am quite clearly watching a different performance.

The intro to the song is entirely f***ed, they harmony is of RE the original, Jade invents an ad-lib in the first verse where there hasn't been one and never needs to be one, the Amelle/Jade harmony in the second verse is dire vs the Mutya/Keisha version. The extended notes by all three girls kill the song, and Jade get far to warbly-leona like for my liking.

Freak Like Me is one of my favourite songs, i've never been keen on the acoustic, but this is just dire.

Surely the point of an adlib is that it doesn't stick to the script? Is Jade not permitted to put her stamp on the song, rather than following the skeleton Keisha laid down with her vocals? This is far from my favourite line up of the Sugababes, so I'm hardly a loon, I'm just defending Jade. She has a right to put her mark on the old songs.

Also, this is the first time I'd heard "Crash And Burn", the melody kinda reminds me of "Here Standing" by the Saturdays.

I really don't think this is anything to do with the originals getting back together. I seem to remember, when they met up, they concluded that it'd have to be under the right circumstances if it ever happened. I think it's a case of Mutya being possessive. The other two don't seem to care.

I can't be bothered to go back up and quote it now, but that post from another forum... it actually makes a lot of sense. Heidi may not be an original but she's been in the band far longer than Siobhan and perhaps longer than Mutya too now? So she has at least equal rights to the Sugababes name. And both Siobhan and Mutya voluntarily walked. Strange how they suddenly care about the Sugababes when the chance to make some money comes along?

It's not any more slap in the face to Beige than what she did to Keisha so I say she totally deserves it!
The current Sugababes lineup have denied that there is a dispute over who owns the name of the group.

The trio insisted that they have the legal right to use the Sugababes brand after it emerged that founding member Mutya Buena, who quit the group in 2005, has applied for ownership of the name.

"Our record company own the name Sugababes," Heidi Range told BBC Newsbeat. "So there's no conversations about who owns the name.

"I signed to Universal Records eight and a half years ago with Mutya and Keisha as the Sugababes, so we've still got the name."

She added: "I don't know whether it's just the press kicking up a bit of a fuss but nothing that we're aware of."

Buena has reportedly asked to the European Trademarks Authority to rule on her case, which is expected to take months.

Newest recruit Jade Ewen, who replaced Keisha Buchanan in September, added that she was not surprised by the actions of former members.

"It would be nice for it to be a bit more positive but it's to be expected," she said. "We can't even blame anybody for feeling the way they do."

Sugababes release new album Sweet 7 on March 15.

Have they met Jay-Z yet? I wonder what he'll make of all this, lol.

:manson:

Keisha didn't leave, she was sacked, slight difference there.

And i don't exactly call what AAG and WMK have done is 'well' they've done ok, but not well. Both songs should have done far better

As far as i am concerned she really doesn't. It's not her track, it's a 2.0 track. I'd have the same issue with Amelle inventing ad-libs where there hasn't been one and isn't any need for one on any of Mutya's parts. [There is no need for an ad-lib on the first chorus really]

She can invent all the ad-libs she wants on the 4.0 stuff, just not on the classics. She most certainly doesn't have the right to rape them the way the management are raping the brand name and what it once stood for.

So basically, they didn't even know it wasn't trademarked  classic Crown. Nice that Jade is aware that she has no real right to comment on the brand name seeing as she was thrust under it 5minutes ago and told to smile and make nice.

And Heidi love, you could sign with Island as the f***ing Spice Girls it still wouldn't give you the right to the name

I don't know about Keisha, but I can't see Siobhan caring that much. I mean, obviously she cares somewhat because her name is on the paper. I bet it was just to shut Mutya up though.

What does she get out of it? If there's no reunion happening, does that mean she would just get more royalties if the girls won this case?

LOL. You're so one-minded, it's unbelievable. That's like saying someone doing a cover of a song has no right to change the arrangement or anything of the song - which IMO, is absolutely ridiculous. I know you have some sort of bizarre hatred for Jade, and I don't disrespect that, as we all like who we don't for whatever reason, but because she adds her own ad-libs to the song, that's fine, because she's not trying to copy Keisha in this instance, if she's creating her OWN ad-libs.

why does everyone love the original sugababes so much? they had 4 songs ( 3 flopped i mite add) and siobhan is so boring and there 1st album is there worst album
Everyone keeps going on about 4.0 not doing very well but they have nearly already overtaken 1.0 in hits and sales.

12 and 13 aren't flops

They also sold a very large amount for #12/13.

Sales have risen since 2000.

Oh, and One Touch is their most critically praised album to date. The original girls were refreshing. They had raw talent, and were incredible. It's amazing to think that they are only 14/15 listening to One Touch.

One Touch is better than Change in everyway despite Change producing the girls biggest hit in the form of AYN
