March 3, 201015 yr Mariah also recorded Against All Odds solo (this is the version I have) but had to buy on import as the solo version wasn't released in the UK. I bought my copy from Germany. The version with Westlife wasn't released in mainland Europe. (They obviously have more taste). The solo version is miles better. Agree, the solo version is x1,000,000 better than the Westlife one.
March 3, 201015 yr The reason the Saturdays havent reached number 1 yet is because they havent done anything that deserves it <_< What a load of rubbish. The reason they haven't is because they never sold the most amount of singles in any one week. Since when did a song get to number 1 because it deserved it?
March 3, 201015 yr It's kind of true... It it didn't deserve #1 because the sales were lower... Hmm. Haha.
March 3, 201015 yr What a load of rubbish. The reason they haven't is because they never sold the most amount of singles in any one week. Since when did a song get to number 1 because it deserved it? AHAHA that made me lol! :D So true (: even tho are overdue a number one (:
March 3, 201015 yr Author LINKIN PARK! YES! "Numb/Encore" was a #1 in Ireland and it's criminal that "What I've Done" didn't even make the top 5. Bloody staggered releases, the download was out for a month before it peaked. These days with the same campaign but without the early download it would have got to about #3 (with better sales to go with the time, obviously).
March 3, 201015 yr Has to be Little Boots - Miley Cyrus - Daughtry Little Boots has only released three singles! :P
March 3, 201015 yr Dannii Minogue, Bon Jovi, Janet Jackson, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Garbage, Foo Fighters. Obvz a few of my personal favourites on the end there but it would be nice to see these acts come through after years in business, though many have disbanded or what not :( Of the current crop of artists I'd like The Killers to have one and Alicia Keys purely because she's released a crop of decent songs over the past decade but has had the most success with arguably one of the most undeserving yet over rated songs of the past 9 months or so. Delta Goodrem a well as others have said and Avril. I'm still fuming that she lost out by a few thousand copies with 'Girlfriend' to a piece of charity $h!t :/
March 3, 201015 yr Avril Lavigne never had a #1 :( Also The Saturdays are crap. They don't deserve to be #1 ever.
March 3, 201015 yr What a load of rubbish. The reason they haven't is because they never sold the most amount of singles in any one week. Since when did a song get to number 1 because it deserved it? A number 1 without any reality or charity links usually get there because they are widely appealing- mainly a very good song at least at the time- obvously there are many exceptions The Saturdays music isnt exactly brilliant and like I said, they dont get the right level of publicity needed- If they did a truly amazing song with wide appeal and not so generic- they could have a chance in other words- you cant really say that they were unfairly beaten to number 1 Edited March 3, 201015 yr by chart wizard
March 4, 201015 yr in other words- you cant really say that they were unfairly beaten to number 1 I know we've been through this already, but now I've thought about it their two singles that got close to #1 were far from their best and I'd say didn't deserve it. I still maintain 'Up' did more than deserve it but at the time a lot of people were doubting whether it would even make the top 10, so I guess for it to make #5 and have huge total sales makes up for it.
March 4, 201015 yr To be fair, I'm very glad Girlfriend didn't make #1. Avril's had some fantastic singles (My Happy Ending, I'm With You, Losing Grip), so it really would have been a shame to see that cheerleading $h!tE become her signature tune.
March 4, 201015 yr Author If we expanded this to "Who deserves a top 5/10/20 single?" who would people come up with? IMO Paramore are overdue a top 10 now. Misery Business probably should have got there, and Ignorance is FAR too good to peak at #14 :(

March 4, 201015 yr Author at least it ensured a top 5 hit for Scooch  Flying The Flag was #5 the week What I've Done climbed to #6 after its physical release! Ugh, I forgot that. Yes, the week "What I've Done" was #6 the top 6 was: 01 McFly - Baby's Coming Back / Transylvania 02 Beyonce & Shakira - Beautiful Liar 03 Akon - Don't Matter 04 Gym Class Heroes - Cupid's Chokehold 05 Scooch - Flying The Flag (For You) 06 Linkin Park - What I've Done Apart from LP the only one I can genuinely say I like is Gym Class Heroes. "Beautiful Liar" is okay but the other three are poor. SUCH a non-#1, I seem to remember adding together rough totals for the first six weeks of "What I've Done"'s sales (this being week six) and it coming to about 50k which was far more than McFly did that week. 2007 had some pretty good #1s but could have been so much better if this and "Girlfriend" had made it
March 4, 201015 yr I can see Miley Cyrus is getting number one as she gets older. She's the next Britney.
