Fairytale #69 :o give a great song some promo and see what happens! it's 10-38 dive in the charts last year was completely unjustified, radio and music channels should have got behind it like the rest of the European media did...

The British media maybe, but not the British public I don't think seeing as it went to #10 off the back of one performance and keeps coming back everytime it appears somewhere. I'm sure if it had stayed on the radio/TV a la Florence/Dizzee, it would have hung around for a lot longer...

 

If radio started promoting a wider variety of songs from different countries (i.e. with Radio 1 a-listing), I'm pretty certain the charts would become more diverse at the same time. People buy what they like from the selection of songs that they hear, usually on the radio or music channels, who have almost identical playlists generally which doesn't allow much scope for quirkier songs and international hits to break through.
