April 7, 201015 yr Author Just got passed. I watched the third reading. They got hardly any real discussion in for many clauses due to the lack of time given to it. Democracy like f***.
April 7, 201015 yr The country that already has the least privacy and freedom of any country in the civilised world now has even less You can't protest in parliament square You can be arrested under terror laws if you speak out against the government CCTV and speed cameras track us everywhere The internet is getting more and more censored And our government has the nerve to lecture China and North Korea  living in Britain in 2010 IS like living in China or North Korea
April 8, 201015 yr Living in Britain in 2010 IS like living in China or North Korea Drama queen much? Whilst I don't welcome this move at all, this is a ridiculous comparison.
April 8, 201015 yr f*** the Digital Economy Bill, new Bones will be online in the next half hour and i'm downloading it. If the government have an issue with this they can tell the Television Stations in the United Kingdom to get their ass in gear and air things closer to their US airdate. f***ers bring it on themselves.
April 8, 201015 yr Author The fact that this bill was pushed through i just two hours makes me sick. did you watch it? it took them a whole hour to discuss one clause, then they only had an hour for another 50, even the MP's were like 'I would go on but our govenment havent given us enough time for this'. it was a complete mess and its a bit of a shocker seeing how badly this system works. as well as about 100 more MP's turning up to vote at the end but not having been there for the whole debate. there needs to be some sort of reform in the house of commons.
April 8, 201015 yr I think anyone who downloads lots of music, TV programmes and new movies illegally deserves to have their Internet cutting off and heavily fined too. I don't mean people who download a few songs or even a couple of movies but people who do it a lot. I welcome this clamp-down. Everyone seems to want something for nothing in this world. Edited April 8, 201015 yr by Victor Meldrew

I read the Guardian's live blog on it. 42 clauses didn't get a look in because it was pushed through the wash up. via the Guardian i understand it was a Labour whip that saw it passed -_- So much for democracy. April 9, 201015 yr They really should've pushed this back until after the election to give it more time to be discussed :o Although the Tories were reluctant, I believe, so maybe Labour feared it wouldn't get passed at all if they lost their majority?
April 9, 201015 yr I heard today these rules don't come into force until 2011 ^_^ Happy downloading until then!
April 12, 201015 yr Author I'm going to move to TalkTalk internet, they will fight in court against requests to take their subscribers offline. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/apr/08/i...net-piracy-bill

April 16, 201015 yr Author Lib Dems will call for repeal of Digital Economy Act Riding high on a wave of good publicity from the leaders debate, the Liberal Democrats' Nick Clegg has stated that he wants the Digital Economy Act repealed and issues debated by a full parliament. The bill was criticised by many technophiles, as well as the likes of Google and O2 weighing in after it was pushed through in the parliamentary wash-up period – with only a handful of MPs debating the Bill. The Liberal Democrats did oppose the bill, however, and speaking at the The Student Room, Clegg insisted that the Lib Dems would call for the Act's repeal should it be involved in the next government. Did our best "We did our best to prevent the Digital Economy Bill being rushed through at the last moment. It badly needed more debate and amendment, and we are extremely worried that it will now lead to completely innocent people having their internet connections cut off," said Clegg. "It was far too heavily weighted in favour of the big corporations and those who are worried about too much information becoming available. It badly needs to be repealed, and the issues revisited." http://www.techradar.com/news/world-of-tec...nomy-act-683988 ---- tbh that is something that leans me more to voting lib dem.
April 16, 201015 yr I was about 95% certain that Sir Ming was going to be getting my vote, now i'm 100%.
April 19, 201015 yr I'm 100% behind the Lib Dems and their plans to repeal this totally undemocratic "law" pushed through the Parliamentary Wash-Up process, and dreamt up by an un-elected "Lord" who's thoroughly corrupt (having had to resign from TWO Govt posts in the past due to corruption) and basically at the beckon call of the Music Industry and the Corporations.... The Digital Economy Bill is something the Chinese Govt would be proud of..... Despicable....

I frankly dont think you're exaggerating at all tbh... An elected tyranny is still a tyranny.... I mean, Mugabe, Karzai and Ahmadinejad were also apparently "voted" into power too.... Just because you're elected, doesn't mean you cant still act like a tyrant... And since about 2001, we've had a so-called "government" which has consistently refused to listen to the people and has come up with increasingly draconian legal and "security" sanctions against ordinary people.... As an American politician once said - "Any country which sacrifices freedom for security is deserving of neither..." I agree with those words 110%.....
