i think (?) all the songs i voted for in semi final one made it! <3 except camdonia and eledan. variation of birds was a poor choice of a knife song to enter considering most BJSC can't get out of their musical boxes in terms of music listenage (in that the best songs have vocals / are female / easy listening etc.) sending a challenging artsy song was a poor idea lawlz.

(plus the knife's newest work isn't their best, should've sent we share our mother's health)

but anywayy yay indieee.

It's not that we can't get out of our "musical boxes" it's just that was a god awful song which was basically just noise..

07 Pts: Ashton: Natalie Bassingthwaighte 'Turn The Lights On'

I'll listen to anything with an open mind but that awful racket did nothing for me sadly, no matter how different an entry it was. Like Phil said, it actually sounded approaching decent when the vocals came in but still this tragic noise persisted in the background rendering it unlistenable for me, it didn't quite give me a headache but I was halfway there  Challenging is an understatement :heehee:

Yay for me! :o I've not got high hopes for the final though, but a 4th final is great anyway! :cheer:

8 of my songs made it through, 2 high ones missed out though. :(

10pts :: Camdonia: The BPA ft. Dizzee Rascal, David Byrne - Toe Jam

7pts :: Xanaga: Emii - Magic

:snif: YAY ME once again.

How weird. Some of the songs that qualified must have got through on lots of little points than a few big points, because everyone's posting their DNQs and most of the 8s didn't make it

Unusual for me with only 14 Points spent on DNQ's from SF1:

10 Pts Ashton: Natalie Bassingthwaighte 'Turn The Lights On'

3 Pts Camdonia: The BPA feat. Dizzee Rascal, David Bryne 'Toe Jam'

1 Pt Ben's Sanctuary: Symbien feat. Lola 'Callin''

musical box in the sense that most likely all of the songs you like are catchy / unobscure. there's a vast musical world out there and the fact that some people liked that song just goes to show that what you see as just 'noise' other people see as really nice, atmospheric music. it's not trying to be catchy or to be playable on the radio. not all songs have to have a chorus / a hook.

i'm not trying to be annoying / a prick, it's just how buzzjack IS really, i'm not trying to fight it or force people to broad their musical horizons. i was just telling pavel why that was an awful choice of song to send lawlz.

I couldn't help but sending it, was my fave at that time (and still is). :(

On another (more important) note: lower case alert! :(

I'M TOO GOOD FOR CAPS

nah, i'm actually just super lazy and like to use lowercase lettering.

it did cause quite a fuss though, so at least the entry was memorable i suppose. ;o

We already have Mushymanrob and Jake, too many for this site :drama:

And no doubt the worst entry of 2010 award is already mine.

My DNQs:

10 ^ Ashton: Natalie Bassingthwaighte 'Turn The Lights On'

 thanks

(Not for the first time I've said this in BJSC history but) I'm shocked Ashton did not reach the Final as I had it down as a Top 5 finisher. :o:

Last time was Nevio/Cilmi  I most certainly didn't have it down as a top5 finisher :o

You missed out by 11 points.

I don't know if thats better or worse :drama:

27 so far. So i'm guessing i ended up the wrong side of 40 with the quali mark perving about the very high 40's/low 50's

Probably :snif: Make with the DNQ tables Casey

Sorry, but that's bollocks. I listen to literally every genre from the 50s onwards, and that was just noise. I suppose if Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music was your kind of album then you would have loved it (or vice versa) but for me, music has to have a melody, a rhythm or some kind of musical instrumentation. A crashing Commodore 64 doesn't count as that.

Sorry Pavel, it's really nothing personal, but I really resent being told that the reason why I didn't like a particular song is because I'm too dumb or mainstream to understand it.

You've basically proved the point what Ben was trying to say ! That there's different types of music, such as The Knife's track which still classes as a song despite you and a majority of other thinking it's just noice. Instruments were used to make it so in your terms it is 'music'. Music is what you want it to be, and The Knife track has pushed the boundaries of music by being 'out there' and experimental. It's kind of a more updated version of Experimental & Expressionism music (John Cage etc.) that made it's name in the 20th Century.

Fine, and Brian Eno is the UK's entry in Eurovision 2011. It's just not appropriate for the contest. I appreciate that SOME people may like it, but it is not because I'm not open-minded enough to, it just doesn't appeal to me.

Anyway, DNQ tables please :P

It's a song contest designed to listen to song that you wouldn't normally hear / not even know existed. Therefore, I feel that Pavel's entry in 'appropriate'.

Patience! ^_^ They are up.
