We welcome all in BJSC but only if they have something to actually say. Posting:

So this contest is open again?

Unfortunately, the illuminati have blocked your entrance into the contest.

Those accursed illuminati :nono:

So this contest is open again?

We are currently open for new registrations should people wish to join up. You now need to wait until the next contest to start participating though.

I TOLD Y'ALL FIRST about that illuminati -_-

murda murda jeeeeeeesus ~ six, six, six :music:

Congratulations guys. You're doing well on your way to beating my off-topic level

Anyway, can I still choose my country and name capital before play like Bikini Bottom did?

Yes I've looked at the rules. But I find it easier to learn as I go along as with everything :teresa:

So first up:

I supply you with my made up country name and capital no one else has created, they can be made up...

Wait until new game is announced on new thread, then given the all clear I PM the artist and track to the host?

What do flags population etc. give advantage wise? is this just for fun?

Before every edition a thread will be made asking people for confirmation of their entry. All countries must confirm their participation each time. Confirmation will be made via PM to the host of the contest. Edition? Is this meaning every year? And a country is basically a player/member? We write our artist and track to the host PM and the host PM's us if we are allowed to play?

* You may only have one country in the BJSC. Discovery of alias countries will lead to you being permanently banned from the BJSC, as well as a short ban on Buzzjack itself for using an alias. OK so you can't accidentally make an alias

* Artists being used by another country may not be used in the same contest. AKA a member choose Owl City for example and I can't choose him as well ;)

* Artists used by you in the prior contest may not be used for the following contest. This only applies to your entry - the artist may be used in the following contest if they were used by another country in the prior contest. Since this is my first game this is N/A to me?

* Artists who came top 3 in the prior contest may not be used for the following contest. Will the top 3 be announced somewhere?

* Songs may not have taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest, but people are free to send songs which have taken part in national finals for the ESC but did not get selected as ESC entries. Again, a list without having to look hours through the forum/thread?

* Songs may be covers [but may not be covers of ESC songs, or covers of songs that have been used already in the contest] Covers of Spin-off entries are allowable. Spin-off entries?

* Countries may use a "national final" or an "internal selection" to choose their entries.

* Songs can have been released at any time. Even in the future? If they are live-only or the even if it's announced to come up e.g. only a track title announced by an artist?

* Songs may not have been used in previous contests, however they may have been used in previous National Finals, but only if unsuccessful. I think I understand :teresa:

Voting:

* The nations must PM their points to the organizing country. These points are: 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point. Nations!!!

* If a country does not submit its votes on time, it will have a deduction from its score. Deductions are up to the discretion of the host, but are typically 33%. deadline?

* Making 'deals' with other countries (example - swapping votes) is not allowed. wha?

So... we all listen to each other's tracks and vote on them? Ah so much reading :o :drama:

'Songs can have been released at any time. Even in the future?'

No. (but thank you for making me chuckle)

Yeah, just send a song and then when the contest starts choose your favourites from everyone else's songs - everything else is explained as you go along
And I wouldn't send Owl City. He's so incredibly popular on this forum and would be certainly vetoed - so only I get to enter him because I'm special.

No need to overcomplicate things by questioning everything dearest SPINUMINATI ~

All you need to participate is a country name, a capital city and the will to find songs that people won't already know. Entering is as simple as PMing a song to the host then voting on other people's songs within the given time period and there are 10 contests each year.

everything else is explained as you go along

Great! I'll just sit here until the new thread opens :arrowright:

So... we all listen to each other's tracks and vote on them? Ah so much reading :o :drama:

The rules are long overdue a rewrite, which has actually been done for like 8 months now I just need to finish the new thread they're going into.

So to sign up for BJSC all you need to do is supply a country name and a capital city. For example, my nation is 'The Federal Republic of Ashton' and my capital city is 'Morpeth Cove'. That is the absolute minimum that we need from you to be able to participate. If you sign up with an alias account you're banned for life. If you sign up to Buzzjack with an alias you get a 6month ban from BJSC. We are 0 tolerance when it comes to alias accounts.

Any other details like a flag or populations stats are purely voluntary and just for fun. They give no advantage.

Each song contest is an 'edition'. There are 10 per calendar year along with a special contest known as Buzzfestivalen where you can enter anything that runs for less than 3 minutes and an end of year retrospective known as 'The Best of The Buzzjack Song Contest' or TBO for short. We have just finished TBO VII. So far we have held 70 contests and we have just started the 71st. Each person that enters is a player and they enter the game as their nation.

When a contest is about to start, the host of that month (who is typically the winner of the month before) will open the 'Confirmation Thread'. When this thread opens you may send the host, via PM, your chosen entry for that contest. For example, using one of my old entries, this is kind of thing you send the host:

Country \\ Federal Republic of Ashton

Artist \\ KaraMel

Song \\ Underwear

Youtube \\ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW4yKDHC4fc

MP3 \\ **This is voluntary. The hosts typically collate mp3's to create an mp3 album of the contest that a link will be provided to. It is up to you if you want to provide this or not. I don't as I post through Uni servers and don't want to lose my job**

Once you've done this you must not tell anyone what you have entered until the Semi-Finals open! This is important. The reason we do this is because the moderators check every entry against the veto framework to make sure that entries are within the spirit of the contest. i.e. discovery of new music. If you have chosen an artist that someone else confirmed before you, even if it's a different song, the host will tell you that you need to choose a different entry as each artist can only appear once in each BJSC contest. (I.e. the Sugababes can't be in the 74th contest more than once but could be in the 74th and 75th contest.)

For your debut the rule about using your artist from the contest before obviously doesn't apply. From your second contest it does. This means that I couldn't send Jessica Mauboy to the 72nd and 73rd contests.

The top 3 from the month before are typically in the confirmation thread's first post. They are funnily enough also found in the results thread from the last contest.

Yeah, we don't provide a list of songs that have been in Eurovision. That's what google is for. Use it.

We have a Spin-Off's sub-forum where we hold other contests through the year.

The National Final/Internal Selection bit is Eurovision lingo. Basically you can choose your track with or without help.

Songs don't even have to have been officially released to be eligible for entry. If it's a song you can enter it.

You can't pick a song that has been entered before. We have a thread for this, search it using cmd+f

There is a deadline, this shit don't go on for ever. You must have your votes in by a certain time (always 23:59 GMT/BST - whatever is in effect) or you will receive a penalty. Not voting in the final means a one contest ban.

Basically, yes, you listen to everyones songs and then vote for your favourites.

OK thank you for clearning that up :D

Will look forward to seeing the thread opened :)

You can start now by posting your country name and capital city in this or the BJSC World thread and then wait for the next contest to begin (should start in February, you just missed this month's contest)

(you just missed this month's contest)

Country: Triangledonia

Capitial: I (:kink:)

Assuming capitals can repeat?
