Charlie Hawkins (who plays Darren) was on Radio 1 and mentioned that

he's going to have a new love interest soon - the daughter of Vanessa (Zoe Lucker's character).

Haha, they'd blatantly already filmed the scene, but just inserted a shot of the newspaper. And yes, it was just plain $h!t.

shhhhh you arnt allowed to call eastenders $h!t, youll get a warning. <_<

Not really, given that both Theo and Jonjo watch the show with an open mind and always offer both positive and honestly held constructive criticisms, and dont continue watching despite preaching an outrageous dislike for the show "m8" ^_^

one rule for one, one rule for another then is it? just because someone is seen as a trouble maker just because he WANTS to like it but is constantly let down... m8! :P

So...moving on :P

Glad

Zoe L's Vanessa will have some family with her. Shame she is going to associate with Darren! I guess once Squiggle *shudders* is gone he'll need someone else to give him a storyline keep him busy.

f*** me, the clear-out continues!

wo of EastEnders' youngest stars will be written out of the soap later this year, it has been confirmed.

Charlie Jones and Madeline Duggan - who have played Ben Mitchell and Lauren Branning for the last 4 years - will bow out of the Albert Square serial in the coming months as part of the soap's ongoing revamp under new executive producer Bryan Kirkwood.

According to the Daily Star Sunday, 13-year-old Jones had to be "consoled" by his chaperone after hearing the news that his 4 years with the soap would be coming to an end.

He has yet to film his final scenes, but his exit will allegedly have nothing to do with Barbara Windsor's departure as Peggy Mitchell in the autumn. It has been suggested that his final story will revolve around the climax of his hate campaign against Louise - or tie in with Lucy Benjamin's whistlestop return as Louise's mother Lisa Fowler.

Meanwhile, Duggan (below, right) - who has been notably absent from the show since her screen mother Jo Joyner left on maternity leave - has already filmed her final scenes as Lauren.

On Thursday, she was spotted filming on location with Joyner, who reprised her role as mother-of-two Tanya for a single episode. She is due to return to work full-time in the coming months, having given birth to twins.

An EastEnders source told the newspaper: "Charlie and Maddy are two very popular youngsters. So there were a lot of sad faces when everyone heard they were both leaving. They've both had their fair share of dramatic storylines and will be greatly missed.

"Ben's exit will be one of the biggest storylines of the summer. It's going to very dramatic and will have repercussions for months to come. Fans are in for a real treat with this one. Maddy has already filmed her exit. She was pretty emotional as she's very close to Jo, who plays her mum on the show."

They added: "But she's had a great time working on 'Enders and has everything going for her."

An show spokesperson confirmed: "Charlie and Madeline will be leaving EastEnders later this year. They have been a pleasure to work with and we wish them all the best for the future."

Before the end of the year, EastEnders is due to lose ten familiar faces, including Lacey Turner (Stacey Slater), Tiana Benjamin (Chelsea Fox), Gillian Wright (Jean Slater), Cliff Parisi (Minty Peterson) and Derek Martin (Charlie Slater).

Since taking the helm, however, Kirkwood has orchestrated the returns of favourites Kat and Alife Moon as well as signing former Footballers' Wives star Zoe Lucker.

Thinking on these exits. Very surprised mainly because they have their parents who aren't going anywhere.

Ben - I'm guessing will get a bit wilder now. The evil thing probably developed. If not tied to Peggy's exit I really dunno what to think! Boarding school I suppose. Allows for a return then in couple of years with a new head - ready for the coming-out storyline which Charlie clearly couldn't carry.

Lauren - very shocked at this, mainly because Tanya is returning. Really only option I can come up with is death. That would obviously destroy Max though. Might be a plot device to reunite him and Tanya but who knows.

Big moves from BK though. Got the balls to do it though which is something.

Gonna be a busy year!

I think it's looking very evident now that Bryan Kirkwood won't take any $h!t, in terms of attitudes, and won't support any hangers-on or actors who can't actually act. I really wouldn't be surprised if some of the remaining child cast are either written out or re-cast.

Ben is a shocker though isn't it? It's so cruel of me but I do find it HIGH-larious that Charlie Jones 'had to be consoled by a chaperone'. I bet he was utterly hysterical.

As for the soap awards, I'll post the full list of awards EE won so people don't have to wade through that article:

Best Soap - EastEnders

Best Single Episode - EastEnders25 Live

Best Actor - Scott Maslen (Jack Branning)

Best Actress - Lacey Turner (Stacey Branning)

Sexiest Male - Scott Maslen

Best Dramatic Performance - Lacey Turner

Best Storyline - Who Killed Archie?

Best Villain - Larry Lamb (Archie Mitchell)

Best Newcomer - Marc Elliot (Syed Masood)

Best Exit - Charlie Clements (Bradley Branning)

How hilarious is it that Scott Maslen won those two awards? Especially best actor! I bet he can't believe his luck. It really should've been Jake Wood but then he wasn't even nominated.

Three awards for Corrie and only one for Emmerdale (a Special Achievement award for a long-running writer). Two for Doctors, one for Hollyoaks. Shame that Danny Miller didn't get any recognition for Emmerdale but I'm exceptionally glad the EE cleaned up in such a big way since they've been so on form for the past year.

LOL - poor Charlie though, he is so $h!t but after 4 years he really must be distraught!

Agree re: that award Jark. It's shocking. I'm most gutted for

Danny Miller.

Scott Maslen best actor? What a load of $h!t - the teenage girl vote out in force.

I am shocked by

those axings.

As has been said, they're part of family units who aren't going anywhere anytime soon, so it's difficult to see how they can easily get rid of these two, especially two so young. You can't really have Ben just do the usual catch a tube out of the Square thing on his own can you?

But it is telling of Kirkwood's new revamp aswell. Let's hope he spots how bad an actor Sam Atwell is soon!

Very suprised there. Ben, as bad as an actor as he is is vaguely important to the show now. It's kind of a shame really that this means the partial break-up of the Shirley/Phil/Zsa-Zsa & Co family unit.

Hopefulyl he'll be back in a few years time portrayed by a better actor - im still gutted they killed off Kathy just for him to be brought back really.

Lauren's played by an allright actress though isnt she? Certainly nothing hugely wrong with her I thought. If anything i'd prefer it, if it was Abbi who got the chop.

Be interesting to see how they leave though. Lauren is kind of old enough to leave on her own but with her being off-screen so much recently could it simply be a re-cast? The dramatic exit for Ben rather gives the impression this is permanent for the time being at least.

Lauren's one of the most wooden on the show, so I think really it is kind of deserved. I don't recall a scene where she has successful conveyed emotion I'm afraid.
scott maslan?... best actor? he isnt even the best actor on eastenders let alone in soap.

Rob I think it was the same girlies who voted him sexiest male who are to be thanked for handing him the best actor gong. As much as I'm not very fond of EE (although the Masoods have been well worth tuning in for lately) there are at least another five actors in EE who I'd rate better than him ... and some of them aren't that good. Either way ... Emmerdale, as ever, is overlooked. Still ... these are public voted so they are only a bit of fun anyway.
