To be honest, when I firstly listened to 'Naturally' I thought that it is just an improved version of 'See You Again'. The bits and bangs are pretty the same. The chorus makes the song different and the right production overally. And the fact that Selena isn't totally marked as a Disney star like Miley definitely helps her.

So Selena Gomez and the Scene are going to hit the top 10 tomorrow. Considering Miley Cyrus is supposed to be the biggest Disney star of our generation, it suprises me that Selena can do what Miley can't. Thoughts? Comments?

Miley is not big, not a patch on Nemo.

Selena has a much better song and she connects better with the listeners/viewers.

Other than 'Party in the USA', 'Naturally' is far more universally infectious than any of Miley's singles. She has promoted very well, and the label have made her record a priority. With Miley, singles were released and just left to sell themselves. Selena has promoted and worked hard for a Disney star, so well done to her.

Just listened to Miley's previous UK... efforts again to recap. My thoughts:

See You Again - Cheese, cheese, cheese. It's too KidzBop. The chants, well I'll call them chants, are just pathetic and make it cringeworthy. Let's just say Miley's fanbase must be HUGE if that got to #11 as to me it's a #63 SMASH.

7 Things - Hmmm, this is like, ok for me. More credible and the lyrics are possibly more mature but they're still kinda childish. I'm surprised See You Again outpeaked it by a lot but still.

Fly On The Wall - What the f*** was she thinking? "A creepy little, sneaky little fly on the wall" is just pure  more cringeworthy than See You Again. Just awful and the music video is really horrible and badly planned too.

The Climb - I've always liked this tbh. It's quite an amazing song even if her voice does p*** me off, it's very good and deserved higher than were it peaked.

Party In The USA - I kinda like this. It's still cheesy but more teeny than kiddy... not really that surprised it got to #11 but it's week compared to Naturally imo.

When I Look At You - Pretty good song. The lyrics are mature I guess but it is featured in a romance movie, but still, it's a nice song!! I hope this is her first top 10 hit as it's a step away from Disney and is quite good. I just hope she doesn't come back later this year with her next single titled "The Pimp Was A Dud" and yes I am talking along the same lines as Kiely Williams.

If selena continues to promote in the uk then she could do very well and have a great future here. And theres massive hype around her with people saying she will be the biggest Disney star :) i saw her on chatshow on channel five a few days ago and she came across really well which only will go in her favour :)

At least Selena doesn't sing about her best friend Lesley... That makes me cringe with horror everytime I hear it...

I personally am going to put this down to the low sales climate we're in at the moment. I have a feeling that the song will sell more or less what Miley's #11s did in their opening weeks tomorrow and will drop down the charts quite quickly. Like somebody's already mentioned, Miley tends to release singles in very tough periods, whereas the chart has been barren for weeks now and is getting a thorough clean out.

I do like the song and I do think it's a lot more mature and she has a FAR better voice than Miley Cyrus but like Jark said, the chorus just reaks of Disney.

Selena hasn't exactly done amazingly everywhere else unlike Miley, but yeah it is nice that Selena is getting some love here and achieving something Miley, Jo Bro, Demi etc haven't been able to yet.

Plus it helps Naturally doesn't sound like your typical Disney song.

Selena's voice is more ''expectable'' but Miley could annoy anyone with that country twang of hers. Although Miley is way more known Selena. Country will never seem to appeal to the UK, so on that note Miley has done well.

That's because the Great British public are intelligent enough to see country pop is boring

An average listener would be turned off by Party In The USA or See You Again because they're Disney cheese, same for Demi (La La Land? Come on, the song is ok but srsly.. Don't Forget probably would've done a lot better I think)

Demi's 1st Album was very Disney, she said she wanted to make a disney record for her fanbase.

'Here We Go Again' album however really shows off a deep and mature sound.. 'disney-cheese' free if you skip the last 2 bonus songs. :heehee:

It's a shame the amazing 'Remember December' didn't have a similar success as 'Naturally'.

I guess even 'Paranoid' by Jonas Bros (co-written with Kathy Dennis) also underachieved imo... far more credible than SOS.

It may have been more credible, but certainly wasn't better - I'm not a fan of JoBro at all, but S.O.S. is actually approaching-decent, Paranoid is just awful.

Fly With Me was a lot better than Paranoid too - I don't want to say it's a shame it flopped, as it's still pretty bad, but that should have outpeaked Paranoid IMO.

I agree with the people that have said she comes across better. In fact she comes across ten times better than Miley does. I can see Miley ending up like Lindsay Lohan, she just has that blank "I'm amazing" look on her face all the time.

Whereas Selena actually listens to questions and gives a proper answer, much more adult and respectable.

Plus, she doesn't scream Disney. Her next single is apparently 'I Don't Miss You At All' which is produced by Toby Gad and sounds a lot like Untouched by The Veronicas.

She could have another top 10 on her hands if she releases that, as I believe the album will do better than most expect it to.

I will say, people vastly overestimate this. It's really no different from one play on Radio 1 any time of the day or week, it makes zilch difference.

Although I agree with you for the most part, I've noticed Boyzone's Gave It All Away rise a few places on iTunes immediately after the chart for the last few weeks, probably because that one play per week is its only continued exposure since the TV show, the video's barely ever on and commercial radio aren't really playing it anymore (if they ever were at all). Of course if it had full Radio 1 a-listing I would fully expect it to be higher, but one play on the chart show might give a tiny boost, I know I've immediately gone to buy songs after hearing them on the chart many times before now, because I don't generally tend to listen to the radio at any other part of the week. I definitely think you have a different audience listening to the chart, maybe those more likely to actually buy music, rather than playing a song at some point in the middle of the week when people are in the office with it on as background music, with no access to iTunes etc...

Yes, Remember December and HWGA are FAR more respectable. I love them <3
