so cheapcheapcheapish tyron

Really? It's not about to be released as far as I know? And given Girlicious are unknowns in the UK, I doubt it would do anything even if released either.

I think it's cheap genre-wise.

God forbid someone would send a pop song to the contest :drama: :kink:

Seriously though, we have had as many girly-pop-RnB flops as we've had hits.

With the current ALL-FOR-RISKS format this is cheapish to go with such song, only if you are desperately :kink: heading to win. But nobody can be forced to go with the RISKS4TW strategy, it'd be too utopic, just like pure communism. :kink:
Indeed, I wasn't aware entire genres were cheap these days  For every massive pop smash we get in BJSC there are five further flops...

I'm all for people taking risks but why send a song you can't be arsed to get behind just because it's different to the norm. Maniac is obviously Tyron's favourite song at the moment (he seems to be referencing it on every thread in the forum :kink:) so why send some risky indie song he doesn't care for much just because BJSC has a new format this month? :o At the end of the day the contest is still about sending the best/your favourite song, not the most unusual/unconventional one.

Lmao, a genre's cheap?! I'm not going to send a ~ indie ~ song just because it's risk ftw's or whatever, I'll send a song most likely from the two genres I love the most; RnB and Pop.

This is getting hotter :o I'm not saying it's OMG cheap like Christina Aguilera if sent this month, i'm saying that i personally find many pop songs (trash pop like Girlicious or Vita Chambers last time) cheapISH and lazy, but of course if you didn't have time to search for songs or/and this is indeed your favourite song atm by a margin - the 'lazy' arguement doesn't work. I might be too harsh but I did seldom 'enjoy' the winners of BJSC with the few exceptions like Delphic, Bev, Royksopp/Robyn and my entries obviously :kink:

I guess this is just the need to make the contest results less obvious and generally increase the quality is speaking :heehee:

Just because you deem them to be 'pop trash' doesn't mean people didn't try hard to look for them though. I certainly wasn't aware of Vita Chambers or Girlicious' song before they were sent to BJSC and I'm sure they will be a discovery to alot of people.

Which is subjective anyway. I don't think trashy pop = bad quality, it's just appealing to different people who likewise may feel that a contest full of indie would be a 'decrease in quality' as opposed to a contest full of pop.

Honestly, the likes of the Vita Chambers song are why I'm in the contest - new pop discoveries. It's always nice when I make new indie discoveries that I love but nine times out of ten the genre just doesn't interest me. Besides, I found a lot of my pure pop entries after ploughing through MySpace for hours looking for something perfect which I love. Alternatively I could pick the first indie song I see Pitchfork falling over themselves to worship and send that. Surely this would require far less effort  Pop doesn't necessarily mean lazy and indie doesn't necessarily mean inspired, and vice versa of course.

This is of course only my personal opinion and definition of 'increasing the quality', I'm not arguing about these songs being discoveries for other people etc.

Just to be clear. :D

Casey has asked me to confirm for him, he won't be here for the deadline, but his first choice is still reserved.

Speaking of deadline, any particular time for it closing tomorrow? I suppose I'd better find myself an entry.

Its too much of a risk to send a radio rip with a dj talking at the beginning right?

Why, what song are you considering? Does an alternative version definitely not exist?

and I can't believe we went so far and starting to tag genres as cheap...I sense in near future will be very hard to confirm a song without getting attacked in some kind of form.

I hope people don't find Nora cheap-ish :P...not that I care since I have strong arguments to cover that it is my favorite non-english track and it's #1 on my personal chart.
