Taken from Digital Spy:

Republica have announced that they will reform for a number of gigs and reissue their 1996 song 'Ready To Go'.

The band, who split in 2003, will release a new version of the track with all the original band members, including frontwoman Saffron Sprackling.

According to NME, the group will also play a string of gigs and UK festivals dates. Details of the shows are yet to be announced.

Originally released in 2006, 'Ready To Go' eventually peaked at number 13 in the UK singles chart in 1997. The band's follow-up 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' reached number seven.

Sprackling has worked as a guest vocalist with a number of acts including The Cure and The Prodigy since Republica split.

It seems like every band from the 90s and their dog are reforming at the moment, so it's not entirely unexpected. Then again, who really remembers much about the band apart from Ready to Go and their role in the creeation of the catch-all term 'electronica.' (I remember Drop Dead Gorgeous, but now I wish I didn't). I would love to see RTG finally reach the top 10 though.

Oh yes, I may go and see them. :o

'Ready To Go' is one of my favourite songs ever, let's get it to #1 if they're re-releasing it. :yahoo:

I recently discovered 'Drop Dead Gorgeous', well when I say discovered I was never keen on it, but heard it on a night out a few weeks ago and it clicked after like, 12 years.

The absolute runts of the shouty Girl-fronted Poppy Electronica/Rock litter in comparison to Curve and Garbage.....

They were a lightweight version of Garbage, but still rather fun in their own way as long as you don't take them too seriously. Drop Dead Gorgeous and Ready To Go were thoroughly decent pop songs.

I enjoyed the two tracks Ready To Go and Drop Dead Gorgeous.

Hope that they do well if they do regroup. Not sure how true this is. The below quote makes me uncertain about the reliability of this report.

I always preferred "From Rush Hour With Love" (I loved the wordplay on a Bond movie).

But as for them reforming, well if it was say an act of the calibre of Dubstar who were reforming then I'd get excited....... :kink:

Nah, I never liked them. The band was made up of people who'd done better stuff before - Tim Dorney in Flowered Up and Saffron with N-Joi. Oh, and this video which was one of my favourites as a 15 year old. Ahem.

Drop Dead Gorgeous and Ready To Go are two of my absolute anthems  brilliant to see them back together, Luciana always reminds me of Saffron somehow...
