Ace Of Base's 1998 comeback, 'the happiest song of all time' Life Is A Flower is at No.16 (sung by my then idol Jenny Berggren) and Cher's incredible late 1998 7 week chart topper Believe creeps into the top 15  Underrated (in the UK) Jewel is at No.14 with her 1999 low end top 40 SMASH Down So Long and three other songs from the final year of the decade round off this section; one hit wonder girlband Thunderbugs with Friends Forever, ATB's second single, 9PM backwards, it's Don't Stop! Swedish indie pop band The Cardigans just miss the top ten with the fantastic Erase/Rewind, which I far preferred to My Favourite Game, even if the latter had one of my favourite videos ever!

So no "My Favorite Game" Oh well. And yeah - Indie Kylie was amazing, "Impossible Princess" was flop version of "Ray of Light" in my eyes. But "What Do I Have To Do" is just heaven

So many amazing memories are coming back

10. Ann Lee - 2 Times (1999)

A chirpy Eurodance song from British singer Ann Lee (partly repsonsible for some of Whigfield's hits :drama:). Released here at the back end of the decade having smashed round Europe first, it stalled at #2 for a couple of weeks sadly as she decided to release it the same week as Christina Aguilera's Genie In A Bottle :drama: It did however beat B*Witched's 'hyped but failed to deliver' comeback Jesse Hold On into 4th place! I absolutely loved this and still do, even if it's a bit forgotten by most now

9. The Corrs - Forgiven Not Forgotten (1995)

The title track of the Irish family band's debut album, this song is too perfect. A dramatic ballad with a rocky build up and of course room for a violin solo from Sharon. Sadly a complete flop in the UK but it was later used as the b-side to So Young, just in case newcomers to The Corrs had missed it first time around. It seemed to work as the album returned to the UK charts at a new peak of #2 in March 1999. It didn't unfortunately get to #1 as the same week as this peaked at #2, the chart topper was...The Corrs with Talk On Corners...it's hard to remember how big they actually were at the time.

Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U

Upon further listening, I will actually consider it criminal if this doesn't go top ten :o Gorgeous song, made even better by the use of 'I can see whomever I choose'. MORE CORRESPONDING OBJECTIVE PRONOUNS IN POP PLZ.

Lovefool has already been. Road Rage nearly made it. The rest, no.

I've never cared much for it sadly. It wasn't released in 1998 :(

Oh goodness, I completely missed Lovefool at #65 :o Didn't you label it one of the best pop songs of all time or something in the Justin Bieber - Love Me thread?

Nu Shoat alert. I must say, I'm SHOCKED that Saturday Night didn't make it for you :o

8. Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee) (1999)

The second biggest selling single of 1999, Italian trio Eiffel 65's lyrically odd Europop hit Blue (Da Ba Dee) is one of those songs that you just knew would be massive from the first listen. Incredibly infectious and a fantastic piano riff/chord structure. Cheese at its best.

7. Gina G - Ooh...Aah Just A Little Bit (1996)

Australian singer Gina G was picked to represent the UK in Eurovision 1996, the whole country got behind her and the song went to #1 on the week of the contest having already been top ten for months and sold over 800k in total. She went in as the favourite to win with her incredibly contemporary (at the time) pop/dance song, already becoming a karaoke favourite (which it still is), and it finished...8th :nocheer: My favourite Eurovision entry of the 90's by some distance - and so good it managed to smash in the US, unheard of for Eurovision songs! If the same scenario happens to Germany this year I'll smash something.

6. The Corrs - So Young (1998)

It's them again!!! According to Jim, The Corrs had to fight to get this and What Can I Do onto Talk On Corners as the record company didn't think they had potential  Possibly one of the most uplifting pop songs of all time for me, I know a lot of Corrs fans turn their noses up at this but it's so full of joy I can't possibly not enjoy every second of it when I hear it. Sharon's violin solo in this kills me, it's full of sorrow, like an ode to a French market onion seller. Kudos to K-Klass for providing the great radio edit

Yes. Hence why it's in here. Earning a place in my top 100 of my favourite decade of music is no mean feat! Saturday Night is catchy but was never a favourite.

Will comment in sections now!

40. The Corrs - Only When I Sleep (1997) - I bought this before The Corrs were well known (ie before Dreams). Wonderful song!

39. TQ - Westside (1999) - Never liked this

38. Take That - Never Forget (1995) - Not one of TT's best in the 90s (Pray takes that imo)

37. Alex Party - Don't Give Me Your Life (1995) - CLASSIC!! Superb 90s dance

36. Berri - Sunshine After The Rain (1995) - Another dance classic - so many memories!

35. Tin Tin Out feat Shelley Nelson - Here's Where The Story Ends (1998) - A pretty little song. Was on Now 40 I think?

34. Sash! - La Primavera (1998) - Improved with age, actually!

33. Pet Shop Boys - Se A Vide E (That's The Way Life Is) (1996) - Not bad, but not as good as Go West!

32. The Boo Radleys - Wake Up Boo (1995) - Another classic for me. I just loved this back in the day and I still have their album! Named after a character from To Kill A Mockingbird.

31. The Corrs - I Never Loved You Anyway (1997) - OK song, but not up there with So Young or What Can I Do?

5. ATB - 9PM (Till I Come) (1999)

Seeing as Don't Stop has already been, this probably isn't a huge shocker. Set the scene: Summer 1999, I was in Virgin Megastore and had £3 to spend on a single. It was between the both aformentioned S Club 7's Bring It All Back and Jewel's Down So Long. By chance I took a listen to their 'new releases' headphones post and this single was the big release that week. I fell in love straight away, purchased it over the other two and was so happy when it went straight in at #1, it kick started my huge obsession with dance music. Perfect.

4. Alice Deejay - Back In My Life (1999)

Dutch producers Alice Deejay went out alone without DJ Jurgen for their second single, late 1999's Back In My Life. A more downbeat affair than its predecessor although still lyrically full of sorrow for Eurodance (as were Will I Ever and The Lonely One - luckily she had found love by Celebrate Our Love!). It was completely different to Better Off Alone but I fell in love hard and fast - it reached the UK top 5 and sold over 400,000 copies, so I wasn't the only one!

Yes I was going to mention that fact about Boo Radleys - great book.

BACK IN MY LIFE (ALICE DEEJAY)  :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

30. Spice Girls - 2 Become 1 (1996) - I love this  Reminds me of Christmas and is one of the classiest Spice songs

29. Republica - Ready To Go (1997) - Totally ruined by adverts now :(

28. Kylie Minogue - Some Kind Of Bliss (1997) - Under-rated Kylie ftw! Excellent collaberation with James Dean Bradfield

27. Robet Miles feat Maria Nayler - One & One (1996) - One of the best songs of the 90s! - Still sounds superb now

26. Eternal feat BeBe Winans - I Wanna Be The Only One (1997) - A bit gospely for me. Knocked Hanson off #1 though!

25. The Corrs - Dreams (1998) - Classy cover which made them famous

24. Ace Of Base - Always Have, Always Will (1998) - Haven't heard this is YEARS! :o Is Life Is A Flower to come?

23. Sash! feat Tina Cousins - Mysterious Times (1998) - Possibly Sash's best song. Maybe Stay. Hmmm.

22. Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (1998) - Dance classic ^_^

21. Precious - Say It Again (1999) - Eurovision? This was a bit average imo.
