Is this the highest chart position for a debut girl group since Girls Aloud? Just something Paul Martin was tweeting about y'day. I know Chasing Lights by The Sats sold a bit more but it only got to #11 when it entered the charts and climbed to #9 later on? And I can't think of any other girlgroup since GA...

I think so, yes. Other girl bands either only had singles success and flop albums or else didn't even get a chance to release an albu (Mini Viva).

Interested to see where this ends up in the midweeks now. If it climbed from #10 on Tuesday to #9 on Friday, then to #8 by Sunday I wonder if they'll still be top ten tomorrow?

happy for wonderland! top 10 album with no real airplay or single support in the UK...very impressive !

Starlight actually had decent airplay!

Wonderland should have had a high placing album thinking of it, they were on so many television shows, had a itv2 program dedicated to them and had 2 singles on their back plus Olly Murs & everyone from westlife asking fans to buy the album!

Pussycat Dolls? PCD peaked at 7, don't know if it entered there though. Still great though, so happy for Wonderland

I predict in tomorrows midweek #22 before falling to #29 by Sunday.

Outside of Buzzjack I've heard precisely NOTHING from Wonderland (which I suppose means I'm not their target audience, OR they've not really caused a stir), so I'm shocked they've gone anywhere near Top 40 with their album after their single did so disastrously. I'm amazed at #8. I expect it to slide to outside the Top 30 next week but WHO KNOWS. :o

EDIT: Oh the midweeks show it's set to fall outside the Top 30. Ha.

:( I was hoping it would stay top 30, they're pomoting the album in Ireland this week to so I don't think they'll be any promotion to 'save' it in the UK, I just hope it stays top 40 now. If Nothing Moves Me is supposed to be out on the 14th August hopefully they'll have the video filmed and out soon. :)

[EDIT] Ohh just seen they're going to be on Alan Carr: Chatty Man on the 24th June, although not performing it should help to raise their profile. :)

We'll see if they'll beat Westlife's record for having biggest debut album fall-off (from #3 to #37) :P

Not good but I'm not suprised as they've been in Ireland all week. Hopefully they'll get on more tv soon and it'll climb back up. It'd be worse it they were promoting it and it dropped that much.

Because they have been in Ireland is no excuse really? Usually artists never promote on the second week of album's release, Wonderland are just doing exactly what I expected them to do. If they fail to get 50,000 sales from this album they will be dropped. They have had magnificent promotion and appear to be in most places, just at the wrong times though.

New artists are usually around, if not on tv, then radio interviews and that sort of thing. And I know, I really hope they do pass 50,000 though, they're filming the video for Nothing Moves Me on monday so hopefully when that is out it'll boost sale again.
The thing is that they will not even pass 20,000 sales what is quite worrying already! But they need to keep this momentum going! Alan Carr should help it stabilise next week? Why the hell are they not performing?

#6 in Ireland ! I expected better.

#34 in midweeks! Could end up around #36 this week and out the following week!

I don't think any of the recent girlgroups have ever got higher than #6 in Ireland, I think it's only been Girls Aloud debut and PCD's Doll Domination which both got to #6 as well and nothing has got there or higher since. So putting it in context it is a good achievment, just a shame that they were #4 in the Irish midweeks so it's a shame they didnt cling onto the top 5.
Goodpoint! Saturdays have only had one top 10 album in Ireland, but they fail to promote in Ireland, Had they promoted they could have had a number one album! The thing that Wonderland need to watch out from is there fall next week!
