'Alors On Danse' is taking my chart by storm in the same way the track has taken Europe by storm. It's now become the brand new no. 1 in my unofficial HET30 chart (see my sig ;) ). As I posted in the dance music, I checked out two other Stromae tracks on YouTube and wasn't particularly impressed with either. Looks like Stromae could well be a one hit wonder for me - but what a one hit wonder!!! ^_^

This might surprise you but I actually prefer 'This Is My Life' to 'Stereo Love'. After 'Stereo Love' entered my chart it sort of tailed off quite fast but then stuck around in my top 20 over Christmas/New Year. I can see 'TIML' having a stronger chart run in my chart.

Totally agree. 'Propane Nightmares' went straight to no. 1 in my chart for a fortnight. This will be lucky to spend two weeks in my top 10 although that really depends on what enters next week.

:lol: Taio's last single was pretty much non-exsistant as I didn't chart it myself. Technically, this is the follow up to 'Break Your Heart' for me but this track rightfully peaks higher. The success of 'BYH' has completely taken me by surprise.

I always regarded Mika as hit n' miss. For every excellent song ('Grace Kelly') there was another I couldn't stand ('Love Today'). This just misses out on giving Mika his fourth top 10 hit in my chart. The others being 'Grace Kelly' (no. 1), 'My Happy Ending' (no. 6) and 'We Are Golden' (no. 8).

I don't think it's a patch on 'I Found U' by Axwell which reached the dizzying heights of no. 2 in my chart in 2007. This is still a great dance track. Better than that 'Candy' Aggro Santos crap anyways. :mellow:

I'm quite surprised 'Bittersweet' managed to get that high. It really isn't the best track the record company could've chosen to be the lead single. If they thought this was good enough for lead single, that doesn't bode well for the album. -_- Alas, expect Sophie to drop out of my chart next week. It scrapes in at no. 40 as I just about like it enough to chart it.

:lol: Probably because it's in French it might've put you off. I really can't explain why I like this song so much. You just hear a song and it becomes your most played song. Especially when it's in a language you don't speak fluently (I can speak a bit of French ^_^).

When I saw this on iTunes last Sunday it caught my attention because Fyfe had released another song a fortnight ago that didn't even dent the top 200. Then I went on YouTube and realised this was from the John Lewis advert. This time last week I didn't even consider this song being in my chart, but it's easily been my second most played song of the week.

I think you're getting this song mixed up with 'Stereo Love'. :lol: I charted 'Stereo Love' in late 2009 - it peaked at no. 3 for me and remained in my top 20 until the beginning of 2010. I actually prefer this song more but both songs have a cool summer vibe about them.

Personally, I think it's a shame this has become the group's highest charting single. It's not a patch on the excellent 'Propane Nightmares' which hit the no. 1 spot in my chart in 2008.

That's a bit harsh, Martin!!! :lol: I think Sophie just needs to release a fantastic track like 'Murder On The Dancefloor'. I've said it before and I'll say it again; Sophie will always be overshadowed by the monster success of 'Groovejet' and she's tried desperately hard to stay in the music industry doing a type of music that I'm pretty sure was never her intention when you consider theaudience.

Hmm. I've listened to 'Dancing On My Own' a few times on YouTube but it just hasn't impacted me in the way 'With Every Heartbeat' did in 2007. As for Katy Perry's song, it sounds a bit too much like Ke$ha 'TiK ToK' to me which has put me off. I will admit I was disappointed the first time I listened to 'California Gurls' but it might grow on me yet.

01 (01) Stromae - Alors On Danse (10-05-03-01-01-01) [6 wks] - Absolutely love this (#1 for me too), looks like it will be a #1 in all of Europe too. I really do think a UK label may pick this up at some point, just hope they keep the french version - maybe this years Ozone? :dance:

 

The success of 'Alors On Danse' all over Europe really is deserved. It's just brilliant for so many reasons - the lyrics, when translated in English, are really thought provoking. Obviously if you just listen to the French lyrics it'd probably make no sense whatsoever unless you're fluent in French (which I'm not :lol: ). It's extremely catchy without being irritating. O Zone was a bit too cheesey for my liking - in fact 'Dragostea Din Tei' only peaked at no. 16 for me in 2004.

 

03 (02) Plan B - She Said (01-01-02-02-02-03) [6 wks] - Growing on me now, didnt like it at first

 

I've loved this song since I first heard it. For me, this is the makings of a modern day classic. It's so simple yet so effective. The video is brilliant to watch too - I like the subtle humour in the video (ie; the jury dancing in their seats, the two police officers dancing either side of Plan B). A brilliant concept. :lol:

 

05 (04) Edward Maya - This Is My Life (04-05) [2 wks] - Remember you charted Stereo Love ages ago, prefer that to this atm.

 

As I've already mentioned, I actually prefer this to 'Stereo Love' but overall I think both tracks are fantastic.

 

06 (06) Roll Deep feat. Jodie Connor - Good Times (06-06) [2 wks] Love this but it is getting a bit old

 

This is usually the type of song that'd go straight to no. 1 for me but this track has one major flaw - the second verse. I really can't stand the rap in the second verse. It just sounds so awkward and amaturish. Ideally, the second verse would be cut out completely and skip straight to the final rap instead.

 

09 (09) Lady Antebellum - Need You Now (09-09) [2 wks] Liking this, glad its becoming a hit

 

I think 'Need You Now' is a lovely song and it deserves to enjoy some chart success. It might yet climb up my chart but it really depends on the above top 8 and any new entries next weekend.

 

10 (--) Taio Cruz feat. Ke$ha - Dirty Picture (10) [1 wk] - I'm quite impressed how well Break your heart is doing worldwide, really like this one.

 

'Break Your Heart' entered my chart at no. 11 and plummeted down and dropped out of my top 40 after three weeks. Taio Cruz's most successful song in my chart to date is 'Come On Girl' which reached no. 2 for me in January 2008 (Adele 'Chasing Pavements' kept if off the no. 1 spot).

 

13 (10) Caro Emerald - A Night Like This (14-14-10-08-04-04-05-10-13) [9 wks] - I hope they give her a push internationally with this, her album has been #1 in Holland for 3 months :o

 

I adore this track. It's such an uplifting feel good track. Maybe the track will eventually become a hit in its own right in other European countries.

 

21 (13) Lady GaGa feat. Beyonce - Telephone (03-03-03-03-07-09-13-21) [8 wks] - Still love it though was surprised it didnt reach #1 for you

 

Personally, 'Telephone' isn't a patch on 'Bad Romance'. However, the track did really well to spend a whole month at no. 3 but after initial buzz of the music video, there was nothing else that made me like the song more than I already did.

 

26 (20) Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (01-01-03-04-05-07-11-14-15-20-26) [11 wks] Love this. glad it was a #1 for you, in fact i like the most of your #1s this year

 

In 2008 I created a new "chart rule" which was that any song that charted in the HET30 that wasn't released in the UK could enter my personal chart. It sounds daft but I've always liked to have some order in my chart rather than just charting songs as soon as I hear them. Otherwise some songs would suffer and chart lower despite me really liking them.

 

38 (36) Lady GaGa - Bad Romance (01-01-01-01-01-01-01-02-02-02-04-07-09-12-17-17-21-24-29-27-31-31-30-30-33-34-36-38) [28 wks] - i had no idea you were still charting this, talk about a long runner, is this your longest runner ever?

 

Following on from my comment re; 'Telephone'. 'Bad Romance' is pop perfection - it's by far Lady GaGa's most successful single in my chart plus it's also the most successful track in my personal chart...ever!!! :lol: It's now overtaking Scissor Sisters 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin' as the song to have collected the most chart points during its time in my top 20 (my YTD is only based on the top 20 so 21-40 is just an additional part of my chart). Why? Because my personal chart was only a top 20 when it first started in January 2004. It became a top 40 around October 2004.

I think 'Nothin On You' is excellent. I've yet to hear 'Airplane' although I noticed this track has become an instant hit in New Zealand.

Oh, it will. Then again, my most successful Eurovision hit from 2009 was 'Lose Control' by Waldo's People...and look how they did last year. :cry: One thing is guaranteed. Lena Meyer-Landrut and Safura 'Drip Drop' will definitely next my chart. The only reason why Safura isn't featured in my Pre-Release chart is because the track hasn't entered the HET30, or got a UK release confirmed. It doesn't matter because each year I always chart my fave songs from Eurovision. This year there are possibly 10 I can see entering my chart - just depends on if they qualify though.

It's a damn sight better than 'Broken Heels'. I thought 'BH' wasn't that bad admittedly, but it had some of the most bizzare lyrics. :lol: This deserves to be a big hit for Alexandra and judging from iTunes it's got a strong chance of doing well.

Trust me to be so dumb :lol: I was refering to Stereo Love -_-

 

At least 'Stereo Love' is finally getting released in the UK. It's already spent 28 weeks in the Hitstastic European Top 30 (see my sig ;) ) and no doubt the success of the track in the UK and possibly Ireland is only going to boost the songs performance even more. At this rate, it might spend almost a year in the HET30. :lol:

I hope the above means its a big contender for #1 then ;) I actually like the fact you hold back songs actually, brings a bit of order to it, otherwise like mine, the songs enter all over the place and have odd chart runs :lol:
