Posted May 9, 201015 yr Just wondering what's the general consenus on what charts you follow, and any other charts you would like to see on here, what are you interested in. Also do you just write up a top 40 or top 75, top 100, or the full whack for your own personal use on your databases. ================= Just to answer the question myself, I rarely follow the album charts unless its a pretty competitive week, I prefer to follow the single charts, but lately I've been finding the singles chart a bit boring, it seems to be picking up now, with some great releases coming up, Kylie, Katy Perry just round the corner which should spark a great interest to the singles chart. As for charts storage myself I just keep the top 40 Singles on a database file, I used to write them up in the past, I've got all the 80s, and early 90s on paper in 3 lever arch files.
May 9, 201015 yr Both, and I go by a top 75 although I'm still interested to see what's occurin' lower.
May 9, 201015 yr Both, really. Both charts can be interesting or boring which is interesting. :P Top 40 is the top dog. Anything out of it is a flop. Edited May 9, 201015 yr by TactiX
May 9, 201015 yr mostly follow the album chart, the singles chart is for fans, record companies only care about what albums are selling. most of the artists i follow cant break the top 75 singles anyway but their latest albums all go top 20 (tori amos, sheryl crow, alanis morissette)
May 9, 201015 yr both really, but I do care more about the singles chart anything outside the top 40 doesnt really interest me Edited May 9, 201015 yr by chart wizard
May 9, 201015 yr I mostly follow the singles, and record the top 50 in my database (for the production of the Hot 40, which will be out soon *hint hint* :heehee:)
May 9, 201015 yr Only singles, and top 40. I do spend about 2 minutes a week checking the album chart, and #41-#75 in the singles chart, but I wouldn't say I 'follow' them.
May 9, 201015 yr I'm only interested in the singles charts although I check out the album charts each week. As for the singles charts, I chose top 75 because it's interesting to track how a song that enters between 41-75 might perform once it's entered the charts. Same applies with other countries, I'm interested in their singles chart but unlike the UK I really couldn't care less what the no. 1 album is in USA, Australia, Germany, France, etc...
May 9, 201015 yr Mostly top 75 for both although I do get Charts Plus so I can see what's going on lower down the chart. For the purposes of my commentary, "the chart" is the top 40 simply because that's what is announced on a Sunday afternoon. If I want to post it as soon as the number two single is announced that's all I know at the time.
May 9, 201015 yr Singles and albums are of equal importance to me. I don't store anything though, long stopped doing that, there should be an option for 'nothing' on that part of the poll. Just use this website; http://www.chartstats.com/ Every UK top 75 album/single chart in full that's ever existed is on here.
May 9, 201015 yr ^ Indeed ChartStats is a fantastic website which I've used quite a lot when checking out old charts from the 80s and 90s.

May 9, 201015 yr Singles; it's more active than the album chart if you know what I mean. And I don't store charts, so I went for top 100 as that's what chartstats does
May 10, 201015 yr i love the chartstats website its great, i keep a record of the top 75 single and albums although i love catching up on the top 100 each week aswell, i would subscribe to chart plus for the top 200.;s evey week only i cant afford it.
