May 13, 201015 yr I don't understand how that can happen. I hope my album downloaded ok for the poster who received it. Worse still, I tried to delete the folder WinZip created so I could try again and I got another error saying the folder can't be deleted because it's in use. Have I downloaded a virus? :w00t: :drama: No. Just close your media player.
May 13, 201015 yr Quick question, anyone know a decent bit of free software for converting wma's into mp3's or m4a's?? Track 4 is one of my faves thus far and i can't put it on my iPod :( itunes will convert them to m4a if you just add the folder of music to your library.
May 13, 201015 yr Quite a bunch of us who messed up with downloading/were victims of mediafire's unperfect service! :o Mine downloaded perfectly fine off Mediafire. I uploaded to a different provider as i was having issues with Mediafire.
May 13, 201015 yr itunes will convert them to m4a if you just add the folder of music to your library. It didn't do that on my laptop  I'll try it with my desktop later. Thanks.
May 13, 201015 yr Now everybody is revealing themselves by saying who uploaded where if it wasn't mediafire! I guess this secrecy thing wasn't gonna work was it?
May 13, 201015 yr It was already closed. :( Oh. I doubt it is a virus, log off and on again (it always works at work!)
May 13, 201015 yr On the plus side, the playlist being in wma files should mean that it's not filled with dodgy quality mp3s (I'm far too anal for that, I'd have to reburn and adjust the volumes!) It's taking ages to convert though and I really want to listen now... It could well be 'dodgy' 128 kbps mp3's converted to wma anyway! lol The size tells everything though.
May 13, 201015 yr Oh. I doubt it is a virus, log off and on again (it always works at work!) Or Ctrl+Alt+Delete, there's gotta be 'Task Manager' or 'Process manager' or something like that, i don't know what it says in english. It's not that safe for an unexperienced user though just to warn. There might be a process named something like your player is called still running. Terminating it should solve everything. But i'd recommend rebooting :o
May 13, 201015 yr Oooooo, I do believe the playlist I received begins with The Cocteau Twins! :o  edit: I have a feeling whoever made this is likely to sad that I've received it. :| Edited May 13, 201015 yr by Dandy*
May 13, 201015 yr The one I received is over twice the size as the one I made  What's the quality of the mp3s? If they're 256kbps then that might explain why.
May 13, 201015 yr What's the quality of the mp3s? If they're 256kbps then that might explain why. 256 is not enough i think. 320 most probably... Sorry for whoever (I know who but whatever :kink: ) gets my CD because it has different bitrates, from 128 to 320, it's quite hard if not impossible to find some songs i have there that are more than 192kbps!
May 13, 201015 yr My review (I have tried to be as diplomatic as possible but apologies to the uploader if you feel I haven't been) I opened up the zip file eagerly wondering what "Heart's Desire" could possibly mean. I started listening to the comp on my mp3 player in the car and the opening chords sounded nice, kind of suited to an early morning listen. Then I quickly realised that the track was going to turn into a turgid and bland mid tempo ballad sung by a woman. Never mind, I thought, I bet the next few tracks will bring some variety. It did bring a bit of variety in that there was a slight tempo change but track 2 was basically interchangeable with track 1. Track 3 started off with some interesting noises but soon degenerated into some sort of sub-Saturdays fluff. Track 4 starts off with some really horrible jazzy acoustic guitar, then turns into an electro ballad sung by (shock of shocks!) a bloke. I'm sorry but HURTS and Delphic p*** all over this. Track 5 actually starts off with some rock guitar (Yay!) and some glam shouting and this turns into one of the few half decent tracks on the album. At least the chorus is good (the verses are awful.) Track 6, 7 and 8 pass by with my hackles rising rapidly. Track 9 brought the only track I know, She & Him's In the Sun and this comp has really brought home how crap I think it is. After yet another bland mid-tempo female sung track I had had enough and stuck on Born Free by M.I.A. as an antidote to all the mundanity. I started listening to the rest of the comp on the way home and I was just as unimpressed. The final 10 tracks drifted by in a haze of mediocrity. I never want to hear another female-fronted piano based song for quite a while (unless it's by Kate Bush.) There is one song , a duet sung in Spanish(?), but it just sounded like some failed Luxembourg Eurovision entry. So not a pleasant experience for me and I will not want to ever hear any of these again, including the bloody awful She & Him song. Too may of these songs sound too samey whereas I look for a liitle variety in a compilation. So I stuck on some Sleigh Bells for some truly original and exciting female-fronted music to wipe the memory of this from my mind.
May 13, 201015 yr Grebo69, while I understand your point of view you did enter into this - or should have - with an open mind. I think, if you have the time, you should listen to the compilation again. The music might not be initially to your pleasing but as the tracks are not in styles you are usually acquainted with maybe some time is needed for the quality to sink in. I am faced with a cd of soulful songs - some good some less good - and I as I rarely listen to anything soulful I have chosen to put in some time getting to know these songs so I can pass proper judgement. The purpose of this is to challenge our preconceptions.
May 13, 201015 yr Ouch. :D I love the way that it's 'diplomatic'!!! :D But fair enough I guess, maybe someone else will like the look of the CD once the tracklisting has been posted... edit: And I agree with Tony, every CD should be given a fair chance... Edited May 13, 201015 yr by Dandy*

The purpose of this is to challenge our preconceptions. Why the hell would I want to waste time listening to this again. The time I have listening to music is precious due to having a 6 month old at home and I am old enough and ugly enough to know if I like a track or album or whether it would be worth persevering with from a listen. I think your response is patronising as I am well acquainted with the styles represented by the compilation and I have no wish to get to know these tracks at all.
