Love it already, especially Sprawl II, We Used To Wait and The Suburbs. Obviously no Funeral, but I think some people are being a bit unfair on Neon Bible. It wasn't THAT bad, it was just never going to be as good as its predecessor. Strings, as always, are amazing from Mr Pallett

I have to admit, I can take or leave Arcade Fire.... ok, they're a name to drop, have been for a while, but they've really not released anything groundbreaking or life-changing.... or new sounding.

And someone, somewhere PLEASE sort this band's graphics out - The Suburbs is, without question, the ugliest and most thrown-together album cover of the year.... nil points. Nasty.

What's bad about it? The images are nice enough (beside some cheesy, $h!tty photoshop effects thrown over them) with nice text. Not nasty by any means?
Loving Rococo on my first listen through, The Suburbs is good too.
Okay after this album I'm certainly of the opinion that Régine > Win vocally. Empy Room is teh w0b

The lettering is appalling, the images are naff... and there's absolutely nothing 'cheesy' or '$h!tty' about PhotoShop. If you use it well, of course <_<

most photoshop users don't use it well though. there's a difference between 'good artwork' and 'look at all this crazy ass $h!t i can do with layer effects / feathering / blending'.
Sprawl II is wonderful. The rest of the album is good but doesn't really show any progression...

I totally agree with this, its not a patch on Neon Bible, but I do like Month Of May, Sprawl II, Empty Room and We Used To Wait. I still can't get into the other tracks, I've heard the album 4 times already, I'm really finding it hard to like the album, but I can't.

P.S.

I saw them live last night at Merriweather Post Pavilion and it was f***ing incredible.

It's better than Neon Bible imo. Neon Bible is snorecentral.

The album's growing on me after seeing them live (AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING, whoever thinks they shouldn't headline Reading or whatever the hell it is is CRAZY, they'll easily beat whoever the other $h!tty ass headliners are), though it's still to0o0o0o0o0o long.

Its a good album but i think overall neon bible was far stronger, although i think this album is slightly better than their debut. However it ha sto be said in my opinion all their album are worth buying and although this isnt as good as neon bible its still a decent album.
Neon Bible had a lot stronger imagery and a more cohesive sound but I did find it quite a drag after awhile. There aren't enough uplifting moments. I like the folksy sound of tracks like "The Suburbs" alongside some more 'serious' songs.
'The Suburbs' is the most beautiful track in the history of the world. True story.
I never purchased or downloaded Neon Bible although I did love Ocean of Noise.

Only heard it a couple times so far. I'd agree that it's probably a little too long but an Arcade Fire album that's a little too long is still better than most of this year's albums so far.

And I got the top right cover as well.

WOW. There is a reason Spike Jonze is my favourite director.

Wow, just saw the Suburbs video and it's f***ing fantastic, although i don't think i got the meaning.
Great song from a greater album, shame they have yet to have a big hit single as in my opinion they deserve to have quiet a few to their credit already.
