I felt it was fantastic to have the chance to vote for any track I liked. I felt that a few of the tracks that I'd voted for might not have made it without the new system, which made it all the more refreshing, and the results were particularly exciting with the new points system. I do feel that, even if the new format is rejected at this poll, we should look into whether people would like to keep the new points system as a permanent feature.

Voted yes, for exactly those reasons. Everyone is given a fair chance to do well, everyone can vote for what they like. And the new voting system worked perfectly with the new format.

I could vote for anything, and I could also get 18pts instead of just 12pts :cheer: Plus, I think it would be nice to always be in the final.

Also, I think I'd rather listen to 48 songs and vote once rather than listening to all the songs in a semi-final, voting, listening to all the songs in the final, and then voting again.

YES! I missed the semis (but only because the forum was less active) but everything else about it was perfection :wub: Love the points system, love the way that everyone is involved and has an equal chance to win.

I had been thinking of leaving soon as it was getting a bit stale and annoying with easy qualifiers getting through over inspired but divisive DNQ's, but I've reconsidered now - the new format has been a breath of fresh air.

As a first timer, I have no experience of the semi final format. I take part in another online contest in which there's around 50 participants a month, and all 50 appear in one big final, so I'm used to listening to and comparing a high volume of songs. Therefore I have no problem with the new system.

 

That said, I wouldn't mind taking part in a semi final system either.

Perhaps a shorter voting period, of about ten days, could resolve the inactivity problem?

 

Or, hell knows, we could just go old-school and bring back the scandals that used to occur :heehee: Smack Me Opium indeed!

I agree on all the above. Which I never expected to say before this contest took place.

 

Plus, If it had been the old Semi Final format I would not have sent my entry which finished 5th, as I genuinely believed it would be a serious candidate to DNQ due to its unusual sound.

What feedback do you have on the new format? It's always good to have a bit of a shake-up and I think this new system is a shake-up for the better. Just think of all the songs you've missed out on discovering in previous contests just because of the semi you were in! ;o

To be fair this is my first time playing in the BJSC, so my opinon might not be as valuable, but I love it for the fact everyone gets a shot, and I quite enjoyed working my way through all the songs; comparing, listing them, seeing who dropped and rised. I think the more the merrier. Plus, some people have openly said how they took risks because of the format, we may lose the diversity and a few gems if we had semis again.

It's defintiely the best variant! The only problem is the inactivity during the voting period but i guess we could do less than 14 days for voting! People might moan though, but nothing will be good enough anytime so i guess GO FOR IT :cheer:

I'm sitting on the fence.....I can see it's good points but I also feel unready to let go of semis :(

What feedback do you have on the new format? I think the big final system is a lot fairer because everyone has the chance to do well, and if they don't then the song wasn't 'right' for the contest. The foreign language songs also have done quite well, which is always a plus. :kink: I found the semi final system rather bleh, tbh. Plus, people usually liked some of the songs in the other semi, and therefore could not vote for them. So yeah, it's fairer and less work for the host. Win win. :cheer:
