Ratings apparently say 5.8m for the UK, 7.8m peak.

Down 2m on last year (7.8m, with 9.8m peak).

Oh, not great at all :(

The BBC should see this as an opportunity to pass Eurovision over to ITV, who I honestly believe would treat it like RTL did in Germany this year.

But then we'd have commercial breaks. And I actually quite like the stupid interval interviews etc.

Ireland has quite a few commercial breaks....

I think trading off interval interviews for good placings is a good deal :P (well in ITV's case not RTE :P :nocheer:)

I suppose I could compromise with that.... :)

I actually hate the stupid little interviews. Give us the interval acts or give us death give us ads I say.

I think that ITV would do much better with the contest than BBC have for years, but the trouble is if BBC drop it, I am not sure if ITV would actually want to take it on, and they're the only other UK broadcaster in the EBU (I think!) so Channel 4 or 5 (god forbid!) couldn't do it...

The problem with Ireland is that the people picking our songs are pretty useless. (e.g Linda Martin) I can't imagine they've ever have picked Satellites if it had wandered in front of them.

We had 5 songs in our national final but really we only had one viable option (Niamh) because I'm fairly sure the other four wouldn't have qualified from the semis at all.

We usually have about 2-3 ads during the show, with one half cutting the interval act <_<
I wouldn't normally mind missing the interval, but I'd have been well annoyed this year to have a break in the middle of it

Didnt it clash with the semi final of Britains Got Talent last night or something (Yes. People still watch BGT, no, i dont know why either)

I dont know if i'd like ITV to take it or not tbh. The BBC may be making it a bit tacky but ITV would surely take it to the next level. And really, when was the last time ITV had a good show on its schedules?

I'm not sure if ITV does broadcast it at a later date, UK might not be part of the big 4 no more, personally for me it be better for all countries to go into a semi phase so every country is on even keel at the start, and get rid of the big 4 altogether, with just the host nation going thru to the final.

The Irish entry was selected by a combination of televoting and a selection of juries....

What they should do next year is cut the voting and restrict it to the countries actually taking part in the final!
I think it will be Berlin, Dusseldorf or Munich..Just because of the transportation

Could be Cologne or the West German Capital, Bonn. There is a huge [and rather pretty] airport there.

He means the people who pick the shortlist.

It's not possible to broadcast it at a later date, otherwise you can't participate

It clashed with the last auditions show, the show where they also reveal whose made the semi-finals

I think that would cause more withdrawals, from countries who don't qualify much

I meant the initial selection, The five songs that took part in our national final were chosen from a larger selection of songs by a panel of judges.

I get the feeling the panel of judges let some really great songs slip by...

Congratulations to Germany and Lena! She was a sweetheart and I liked the song, it was one of my favourites. For some time, I was probably the happiest with the top 3 I have ever been - when it was Germany, Turkey and Belgium. I was shocked to see that songs I liked were doing so well. Belgium then dropped but 6th is not bad. Ireland's flop is surprising, I thought it would do better.

My prediction for last place came true.

Overall, I enjoyed this year's Eurovision more than last year's.
