I don't see why people are getting so hyped up over one result. In 2006 Italy and France opened with draws agains much weaker opposition (Switzerland and USA), France then drew with South Korea before barely beating Togo to go through to the next round. Argentina played some fantastic stuff including a 6-0 in their second game and everyone was proclaiming they were the greatest team in the competition. Remind me, how did those three end up doing?

The voice of reason as ever :D

I think we should be beating the USA to be honest. They're far from great and didn't offer much. They could only score because of a massive error from our keeper and their keeper was named Man of the Match. I was disappointed that we didn't win.

Korea scored twice yesterday?

Well true, but England didn't offer much either. Midfield was disjointed. SWP and Lennon are both far too similar, and extremely inconsistent. At one stage in the match I actually thought we'd lose. On paper of course we should be beating USA, and especially if England want to win the World Cup, but England really didn't show much really. I still don'tsee the understanding Capello had for taking Milner off...unless it was purely so he didn't get sent off? I don't think he would have done.

Forgot S.Korea scored twice yday! But it was 1-0 for a very long time irrc!

Maybe not the Netherlands v Denmark match; but the Japan - Nigeria match was.

I think you mean the Japan-Cameroon match!

And yay for the Japanese!!!!

First win for them on foreign soil in the finals!

It seems he was suffering from a virus but if that was true then he shouldn't have been playing anyway.

The African teams have been very disappointing so far. Considering this was meant to be their big tournament that they went further than before they've done precious little as yet. I can only see Ghana and maybe the hosts going through.
YES! Paraguay :cheer:

Hilariously I picked them out in BOTH my work's & pub's sweepstakes.

What a header!

It was a good header, but the defending was pretty poor - Italy have been fairly terrrible tonight.

ITA - PAR

Both teams had strong defence...Goals only from free kick and corner kick. Interesting to see which one of them wins the group because they will both beat SVK and NZL. If they don't that'd be the biggest surprise of the tournament.

Paraguay attacked rather poorly though

ITV bosses are still investigating the cause of HD viewers missing England's goal on Saturday and have issued a sincere apology. They've had thousands of complaints from angry HD viewers including many pubs and clubs! The HD feed is a few seconds behind the normal SD feed as the picture comes from South Africa in normal SD definition and is converted to HD for ITV by Technicolor in London. The HD screen went blank for a second before a Hyundai ad appeared. A quick thinking technician in ITV continuity in London switched to the SD feed for HD viewers too. It's not known if it was a fault at Technicolor or human error by someone in ITV continuity pressing an ad button by mistake but happened before on ITV with a Cup match.

..error by someone in ITV continuity pressing an ad button

I reckon it was Adrian Chiles, he's the BBC mole. Wah-ha-ha... :P
