It was definitely autotune (the difference between that and vocoder isn't much at all and I'd have no idea why they'd use vocoder anyway  ) Its strange how they thought that no one would notice tbh.

They probably thought no one would care. I really don't see why anyone does when they get to boot camp they have to sing with no audience aswell at the judges houses. As I said the auditions were ridiculously noisy to the point I couldn't hear people singing so they have clearly enhanced the sound or something for the tv.
but couldn't they have just turned up the volume of the persons microphone rather than making then sound like cher? they did it alright last year and none of the auditions sounded autotuned then..
I'm not the biggest X Factor supporter but I think the fact that people are droaning on about this is insane. The auditions are for entertainment who cares whether some random girl who has no shot of making the final 12 has an autotoned performance.

I noticed it too. It's shocking that it''s been used. We're trying to find the best singer, and they're twiddling with everything to get the stories and people they want through for TV.

Let's not forget the finalist mimed their way through the group performances each week last year.

I LOVE Geri so much, I would have loved it if she was permanent but still at least I get a bit of a Gezza fix :D haha

NAAAAAAAAH! If they had to have one of the former SG then Melanie C should be there - She's had the most success and she's more likeable.

Don't expect Katy to get anywhere fast, apparently she has a record contract under a different name in the US she is facing the boot. If the news is true

She also had her own Reality TV show. She seems like a bit of an arsehole actually.

That was a good thing. Otherwise we would've had to ensure more painful off key warbles from Danyl Johnson.

'I Gotta Feeling' anyone?

Cowell will find a way to keep her in. Controversy is another thing that keeps the X-Factor going.

I've just realised ... the X-Factor is like the Jeremy Kyle show with music (if you can call it that).

I thought all the acts last night were awful - this series however seems to be even worse. In previous ones ... didn't Simon interrupt the awful ones after 15 seconds or so ... it seems he wants to torture everyone by letting even the crappest of the crap sing the full song!

They have admitted 'tweaking' the vocals but saying that they were live at the audition stage but things needed to be tweaked for the audiences entertainment and that it will be all live during the live shows.

What gets me is they could easily make someone sound worse and ruin their chances in later rounds, they are just using it as another way to manipulate the viewers into voting for who the producers want come the live stages. Also I wonder if the group performances will be live this year.

They always manipulate the viewers, the viewers don't have to follow them like sheep tho.

hence the another way ;)

Well done viewers you have got what X Factor intended. More hype around the show due to the scandal and ex contestants giving their 'views' on the scandal.

Fragile Shirlena Johnson could be axed from the show after psychiatric experts described her as a ''ticking timebomb''

It has been revealed that she was diagnosed with serious mental health problems and didn't tell X Factor producers.

If she goes on any further in the show and gains more success it is thought that her health may affect her ability to look after her 3-year-old daughter Mariah.

After deciding not to divulge her issues to X Factor producers they may be forced to axe her from the rest of the competition, also scrapping footage of her at the Boot Camp stages.

An X Factor insider said: "Shirlena can no longer be part of the show. We had no idea about any of this as the information was not given to us by Shirlena when she applied.''

"We take contestants' welfare extremely seriously. There is no way we would risk anyone's health or wellbeing on what is a very exhausting show."

She is being compared to Susan Boyle who herself was admitted to the Priory clinic for exhaustion after her ''strange'' few hours after appearing on the Britain's Got Talent final.

"Shirlena is as fragile as Susan Boyle was - but the difference is that Susan didn't have a child to worry about," they said. "Hopefully the makers will agree that the best thing for Shirlena and her child is to gently drop them from filming and let us help her be the best mother she can."

There's no such thing as bad publicity for X-Factor is there?

I think it's something people have a right to complain about, it really brings the integrity of the show into question if they're trying to deceive the viewers like this. It's a competition after all, we should be hearing just their singing talents and not added extras.

I thought it was most obvious on Shirlena Johnson...
