Posted June 19, 201015 yr A few months ago I did one of these #1 prediction threads and it was quite popular so I thought I'd do another one for the summer. Quite a few contenders are beginning to appear so what you think (realistically) will be #1 during summer? 21st June Katy Perry feat Snoop Dogg - California Gurls There is no doubt this will be #1, in fact i think it will be one of the biggest hits of the year! :cheer: K'naan - Wavin' Flag The physical is out on Monday, could it climb over the coming weeks? I think it will peak at #2 myself  Scissor Sisters – Fire With FireI was very exciting about their comeback but this track hasnt really had the hype their previous stuff has had. I think #1 is out of the question but may be they will still get another #1 album? 28th June Enrique Iglesias feat Pitbull - I Like It I think this could be a surprise hit (considering radio 1 arent playing it), it could hang around over the summer I reckon Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers Maybe this could climb with the physical release? I think #3/#4 will be its peak though 5th Jul JLS - The Club Is Alive Having already performed on Britain's Got Talent, I think this could have pretty big first week sales but drop off quite quickly. 12th Jul Basshunter – Saturday I think this could be a contender though may be only top 5? Radio 1 seem to be supporting it. Diana Vickers – The Boy Who Murdered Love Another #1 for Diana? I think it could struggle to be honest :( Professor Green feat Lily Allen – Just Be Good To Green I think this could do quite well, it'll go top 5 I'd imagine at least. 26th Jul Travie McCoy feat Bruno Mars - Billionaire One word - HUGE. I think this could be a big #1, especially as there are fake versions climbing already on itunes. Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup - We No Speak Americano Another big #1 contender, already doing well in Europe and Australia, annoying the UK edit is only 2mins 14secs though. Big summer dance track. 2nd Aug Tinchy Stryder- In My System Apparently Popjustice said this is out in early August, considering the success he had last year, a #1 return isn't out of the question. 9th Aug B.o.B. feat Hayley Williams – Airplanes I really hope this goes to #1 but I can see something above (or something on this week) stopping it and doing a Rude Boy. It will certainly be one of the hits of the year. Ne-Yo – Beautiful MonsterMaybe this? If not it should go top 10. The Saturdays – Missing You Now the clip of this track has just been released on youtube, sounds promising. Can they get their first UK #1? Its only a matter of time IMO and I can see their label trying to push this. Stromae - Alors On Danse Now here is a song I love, having already been #1 all over Europe, they are releasing the original French version. It could do anything at this stage, but the fact its climbing itunes already with no airplay is a good sign. If it gets Radio 1 support and tv play it'll go top 3/5 (at least) if not, it will flop. Foreign language can be hits here (See Ozone or even Yolanda above) but i guess it depends if it catches on. Coming Soon Taio Cruz - Dyamite Think this could go top #1 myself. Alexandra Burke - Start Without You Another #1 contender, think it has a good chance as its not on the album, its Summer and its her :P And finally... Mike Posner - Cooler than me Gonna be big, I reckon top 5 at least though it probably won't be out until the Autumn. Feel free to add any other contenders i may have missed.
June 19, 201015 yr As much as I don't like it, I reckon that Katy Perry's new one will be this years I Got A Feeling/Umbrella, etc.
June 19, 201015 yr The next 2 numbers 1's after this week will by Katy Perry for 2 weeks then JLS for ? weeks... Prof Green possibly the week after JLS - highly possible with Lily Allen on the track.
June 19, 201015 yr Heres my predictions: Tomorrow: Most likely Shout, but Im still keeping my fingers crossed for K'Naan June 21st: Katy Perry- California Gurls looks very likely, with Scissor Sisters Fire With Fire a chance for top 3 June 28th: most likely Katy Perry for a second week, as nothing else is there to stop her, I think the best chance would be Enrique and Pitbull- I Like It July 5th: Unfortunately, JLS- The Club Is Alive looks set to take it this week, probably have similar sales/chart run to Beat Again July 12th: I think the biggest contender would be Professor Green and Lily Allen- Just Be Good To Green is the most likely, I also think Basshunter, Diana Vickers, Esmee Denters, Pendulum and Plan B will all make some kind of impact July 19th: Nothing notable released, probably the number 1 the week before again July 26th: As you said, most likely Travis McCoy and Yolanda Be Cool could both be hits- even though I havent heard either of them  August 2nd: The Hoosiers have a new song out, not that it will do much- Cant see anything notable August 9th B.o.B's Airplanes is physically released this week- I think its entered the charts too early so will fall for now, but it could do a telephone August 16th: Not sure As for the others you mentioned, I cant see Alex getting there, her previous two got nowhere near, what makes you think this will be any different? Although, it is generally to early to say
June 19, 201015 yr As for the others you mentioned, I cant see Alex getting there, her previous two got nowhere near, what makes you think this will be any different? It's a brand new song not already available on an album, that's what's different. It's crap though IMO.
June 19, 201015 yr It's a brand new song not already available on an album, that's what's different. It's crap though IMO. still, if its just the same thing again then I cant see it getting far
June 19, 201015 yr Defintiely agree 'California Gurls' will be huge - don't see it being #1 for longer than 2 weeks though as it's rare now but I've love for it to have a similar chart run to 'I Kissed A Girl'. 'Billionaire' aswell, such a grower.

Although, it is generally to early to say maybe because all night long and broken heels were on the album start without you was not so i do think it stands a chance
June 19, 201015 yr Looks like Katy Perry for a fortnight, with JLS to follow unfortunately, following on Travie McCoy or Yolanda D Cup could be a summer smash, but I love for Yolanda D Cup to go to #1 its something fresh, it just reminds me of Doop in places, to me it sounds a summer anthem. P.S. If Diana Vickers get another #1 the sales for her track will be fairly dismal, she is this year's Pixie Lott
June 19, 201015 yr 26th Jul Travie McCoy feat Bruno Mars - Billionaire One word - HUGE. I think this could be a big #1, especially as there are fake versions climbing already on itunes. I've never heard of Travie McCoy. Checking it on Youtube though, why am I not in the least surprised that it contains rap? :( 9th Aug B.o.B. feat Hayley Williams – Airplanes I really hope this goes to #1 but I can see something above (or something on this week) stopping it and doing a Rude Boy. It will certainly be one of the hits of the year. THis is already charting - and failing to even trouble the T20... The Saturdays – Missing You Now the clip of this track has just been released on youtube, sounds promising. Can they get their first UK #1? Its only a matter of time IMO and I can see their label trying to push this. They wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't... Coming Soon Taio Cruz - Dyamite Think this could go top #1 myself. Well, it *is* urban, and that genre has a lot of people who'll buy it, no matter what it sounds like...
June 19, 201015 yr maybe because all night long and broken heels were on the album start without you was not so i do think it stands a chance You didnt need to quote the whole post just to write that! :kink: It could do well then as its not on the album, we'll just have to wait and see
June 19, 201015 yr I can't believe I haven't heard this Billionaire song yet! What's wrong with me? So many people are talking about it, but I just can't be bothered for some reason, even though it's probably a really good song. And, even though Airplanes is released on the 9th of August, it's going to peak way before then. It's too big on the Internet. He should probably be releaseing a third single in late August in my opinion. If he leaves a couple of months between Airplanes and single 3, then we might have Airplanes peaking in July, and then single 3 out in October, which would be weird.
June 19, 201015 yr 21st June Katy Perry feat Snoop Dogg - California Gurls #1 K'naan - Wavin' Flag #2 Scissor Sisters – Fire With Fire #14 28th June Enrique Iglesias feat Pitbull - I Like It #8 Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers #3 lol at people who still think physicals make a difference. 5th Jul JLS - The Club Is Alive #1 :puke2: 12th Jul Diana Vickers – The Boy Who Murdered Love #13 Professor Green feat Lily Allen – Just Be Good To Green #4 26th Jul Travie McCoy feat Bruno Mars - Billionaire #1 Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup - We No Speak Americano #5 9th Aug The Saturdays – Missing You #4
June 19, 201015 yr JLS will be number 1 for sure, It's totally bland generic R&B - so you're bound to be right...
June 19, 201015 yr It's totally bland generic R&B - so you're bound to be right... the song is just awful
June 19, 201015 yr the song is just awful too right, but its them so it will be huge :( such a shame- one of the worst songs I've heard all year
June 19, 201015 yr JLS 'The Club Is Alive' could potentially be the worst UK no. 1 of 2010. It's absolutely dreadful and makes some of the non-no. 1s so far this year seem worthy of such status (Jason Derulo, Scouting For Girls). Oh well, that's just my opinion. Katy Perry is already no. 1 on Irish iTunes so the signs of 'California Gurls' being massive in the UK are looking very promising - if not predictable. It'd also be excellent if Yolanda Be Cool got to no. 1 for one week with Stromae topping the charts the following week. Would surely be a rare feat where two non-English language tracks have topped the UK chart back to back. :D

If it does then again, mid top ten, but I doubt it would go to #1. Two simultaneous foreign language top ten hits would be great though, but I'm still not convinced it will happen
