Posted June 21, 201015 yr Eminem set for Recovery at top of chart 10:48 | Tuesday June 22, 2010 By Paul Williams Source: MW Singles On the singles chart Virgin’s Katy Perry should return to the top of the UK chart for the first time since her introductory hit I Kissed A Girl in August/September 2008 with her newly-issued California Gurls with Snoop Dogg opening up a commanding lead at the top. Its success is likely to deny A&M/Polydor’s K’nann the number one spot with Wavin’ Flag, which climbed to two on last Sunday’s chart and has this week overtaken the sales of the Syco-issued Shout by Dizzee Rascal and James Corden. Having secured a second week at number one last Sunday, this is now the week’s third top seller, around 6,000 sales behind K’naan. A week before the release of their third album Night Work, Polydor’s Scissor Sisters will return to the chart on Sunday with its lead-off single Fire With Fire. It is the 11th top seller at this stage of the week. Alongside topping the albums chart this weekend, Eminem should also claim a second entry in the Top 40 with Love The Way You Lie. His current single Not Afraid, which was five on last Sunday’s chart, is the week so far’s sixth most-popular hit. Joining Eminem among the new entries should be two other US superstar rappers: OutKast’s Big Boi with his new Mercury single Shutterbug and Interscope/Polydor’s Diddy under his new Diddy – Dirty Money moniker with Hello Good Morning. Albums Eminem is poised to top the UK albums chart for the sixth time this weekend with Recovery as Katy Perry heads for a second chart-topping single. The Polydor rapper's album is only a few thousand units short of outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined having opened its account on Monday with around 49,000 sales. The newly-released set should be joined in the Top 10 this Sunday by a handful of other new entries, including Data/MoS act Example’s Won’t Go Quietly and Can’t Be Tamed, the new offering by Hollywood/Polydor’s Miley Cyrus. Also competing for Top 10 places are the Wichita-issued The Boxer, the debut solo offering from Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke, and Scream, the new album from Columbia-handled Ozzy Osbourne. Just outside the Top 10 positions at this stage of the week is Columbia’s new hopeful Lissie with her debut album Catching A Tiger. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Top 40 Only Singles 1 Katy Perry ft. June 22, 201015 yr Will Shout stay on top for a third week. Katy Perry releases her new single 'American Gurls' collaborating with Snoop Dogg, other new singles from Scissor Sisters which should guaranteed them a top 10 entry with Fire With Fire, and Diddy with Dirty Money, Big Boi & Cutty, and Eminem feat. Rihanna on downloads, plus K'naan with his physical release should maintain a top 3 position quite easily. Expect a new #1 in the album chart, either from Eminem or Example, most likely guaranteed a top 2 placing other new album releases this week come from Kele, Lissie, Ozzy Osbourne, Delays, Pulled Apart By Horses and Miley Cyrus within the top 40 chart. For now make your own predictions, chart info will be posted when available. American Gurls ? Mikey -_-
June 22, 201015 yr Example garunteed a top two position - Not sure about that. Top 5 yeah but think it'll be behind Eminem and Oasis. Katy Perry for number one!
June 22, 201015 yr Mikey, can we expect sales today for Katy since she has a huge lead on iTunes or not? I hope we do as it would be interesting to see how much she has sold in two days.
June 22, 201015 yr Just a random question should Katy be number one on Sunday, will Snoop be up there among the most hits before a number one single?.
June 22, 201015 yr Mikey, can we expect sales today for Katy since she has a huge lead on iTunes or not? I hope we do as it would be interesting to see how much she has sold in two days. Hopefully the Music Week report will give us some sales :) I'd put a guess at around 35-40k.
June 22, 201015 yr Hopefully the Music Week report will give us some sales :) I'd put a guess at around 35-40k. Ahh thanks Spiidey. :D Long time no speak. :P Yeah I hope it sells over 100k in the first week.
June 22, 201015 yr Eminem #1 in the albums with 49K. No sales for Katy Perry though.. Eminem is poised to top the UK albums chart for the sixth time this weekend with Recovery as Katy Perry heads for a second chart-topping single. The Polydor rapper's album is only a few thousand units short of outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined having opened its account on Monday with around 49,000 sales. June 22, 201015 yr Miley cyrus - Can't be tamed posistion We don't have the list of the top 40 yet - only the report that Doctor Bling posted.
June 22, 201015 yr Author If K'naan sold 75k for #2 last week, I reckon Katy Perry is around 35-40k, that's a guess, totally probably around 120k plus, without blowing my own trumpet. As for Eminem that's pretty high sales for Tues mids, probably looking at 180k plus at the end of the week.
June 22, 201015 yr Great sales for Eminem :) Example tweeted that his album is at number 3 & Miley and Glee are lower down
June 22, 201015 yr It's not impossible that the Scissor Sisters will make it into the top 10 after all then :o Especially as they're still climbing iTunes. Amazing sales for Eminem. Perhaps they're very frontloaded? Still he should clear 100k at least.
