At least a few other people agree with me anyway.

EDIT: Jason Derulo's own myspace page says his album is a blend of rock, pop, electronic and R&B. http://www.myspace.com/jasonderulo

So who cares? It's not a pop-rock song!

It's a shitty, pop, 'Just Dance'-rip off.

Oh fine! I don't care anymore. I think it's obviously a rock (and pop and R&B) song. I've found many other people who agree with me. Most of you don't think it's a rock song (not even a pop-rock song). We're never going to agree, even though I know I'm right, and you all know that you're right.

Anyway, I'm glad Airplanes is in the top 10.

"In My Head" is not a rock song, it's barely pop-rock. For me, pop-rock is Scouting for Girls, Orson or perhaps Keane's more mainstream moments. IMH is a pop song through and through with incorporates other elements, namely of rock, hip-hop and R'n'B. Enough people struggle to call a band like Paramore 'rock', they're very clearly pop-punk in that they carry on the same lineage of Ramones, Green Day, Blink-182 et al that's slowly gotten more and more mainstream. If you look at songs like, for instance, "Blitzkrieg Bop", "Basket Case", "All The Small Things" and "Misery Business", there's always been pop hooks in that genre, they've just gotten more attention over time.

'In My Head' is NOT a rock song, that is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Rock is something like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Queens Of The Stone Age, Placebo, Muse etc etc.

It's a pop song with electronic elements, a hint of urban and some guitar riffs. Simple as that. It's not even pop/rock on the same level as Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Avril Lavigne.

Infact that's about as daft as when vidcapper said 'On And On' by Agnes is R&B.

Airplanes up to #8

EDIT: Back down to #9

Many other people, not just me, see the rock in In My Head. I posted a few examples of that earlier in the thread. I've already realized that absolutely no evidence I can come up with will help some people understand where I'm coming from. Even if I found a video of Jason himself, saying that one of the genres in In My Head is rock, some will still insist that the song doesn't even have one single trait of a rock song in it.

As much as I'm enjoying everybody thinking I'm crazy, can we please let it go, and move on?

Just because it has a guitar in it, it's rock. Christ almighty.

Alright, let's move on...

What did I just say? And also, do a google search, if you want to see the reasons that we consider it a rock song...

It's anything but, I'm sick of people grasping onto anything with a guitar and saying instantly it's rock music just because there's a dearth of real (yes, I used that word) rock music in the upper echelons of the chart.

Now I realise this is STILL off topic so whether it's at #8 or 9, "Airplanes" is magnificent and I'm glad it's having a good, organic chart run. Long may it continue.

Go Kylie :cheer: performing 2 tracks including her single, on JR show :D

What was the other?

Jesus give Eric Blob a break people! If he interprets IMH as a rock song, he must have his reasons. As i've said before, it's hard to define many genres and most songs have elements of different genres.

I'm sorry, did you just say that Koochy by Armand van Helden has a guitar on it? There is absolutely NO guitar on that record whatsoever. If you're referring to the main hook on the song, it is sampled from 'Cars' by Gary Numan from his album 'The Pleasure Principle.' Numan later said that his ambition on The Pleasure Principle was to make an rock album WITHOUT GUITARS!

I'm glad we've cleared that blatent error up. Now we can be friends again.

Love At First Sight
