Firstly Ghostface Killah' adds nothing to the song. And with the fact that her album's done a good 300k + New York was a sizeable hit, this re-release really is the most pointless re-release ever. And that includes 3OH!3 - Dont Trust Me. Is she planning on releasing in the US perhaps?
June 30, 201014 yr Maybe they are trying cash in on Alicia Keys' success with a similar sounding track? She has the same shouty "New Yooork" in the chorus.
June 30, 201014 yr  Why bother releasing a song that peaked at 15??? Surely it's for the US? No, they ARE actually re-releasing it here. It's stuuuupid.
June 30, 201014 yr Random. Pointless and Ghostface Killah is probably one of the least relevant rappers out there these days... Bizarre choice of feature and he rather brings down a very classy song to a cheap level.
June 30, 201014 yr Maybe they are trying cash in on Alicia Keys' success with a similar sounding track? She has the same shouty "New Yooork" in the chorus. New York >>>>>>>>>> Empire State tbf. But I agree, completely pointless. A re-release of 'Stone Cold Sober' would've been fine though.
June 30, 201014 yr Why? it'll definitely not outpeak the original 15 position. Edited June 30, 201014 yr by Alex!
June 30, 201014 yr Paloma Faith to re-release single WENNPaloma Faith has confirmed that she will re-release her single 'New York'. The track peaked at number 15 in the UK chart when it was released last September as the second single from Faith's debut album Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful?. According to the singer's official website, an updated version of the song featuring Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ghostface Killah is due for release on August 1. The track, which can be heard on the star's site, was added to the most recent Radio 1 playlist. Faith previously told DS that despite not selling enough albums to break even, she expected to produce a follow-up to her top 10 LP. "I think they'll keep me for this next album, but if I keep making losses for them of course they'll just drop me," she said.
July 1, 201014 yr No, they ARE actually re-releasing it here. It's stuuuupid. Thanks. Her record company must literally have zero brains. And if that had to add a rapper, they have loads to choose from bar Ghostface Killa
July 1, 201014 yr I LOVE this song, but like everyone else I think this is utterly pointless, also the rap just does not go with the song whatsoever! And theres no way this will outpeak Top 15..
July 1, 201014 yr I must be the only one who thinks this actually a good idea. I'm sure this version will become a top 40 hit. Hopefully, it would gain interest from rap fans and It would hopefully generate sales for her album. Hopefully there's a new video for this version. :D
July 1, 201014 yr Um, Empire State Of Mind much? :kink: I must admit I kind of like Ghostface Killah, Wu-Tang used to be EPIC, but this is obviously a calculated, contrived idea for the US market.
July 1, 201014 yr What's the point in re-releasing her best charting single? And it doesn't suit the rap
July 1, 201014 yr I would be mad if I was one of her fans who bought the first version & then had to buy this. So this is her "second" release? Doesn't she have anything better?
July 1, 201014 yr I don't want Paloma to be dropped! I think her label should look into expanding into other markets. I know she has had a few hit singles in some other countries but it's not really enough. I think with the right promotion, she could be huge in Australia.

Everyone seems to be huge in Australia. As for the song...i like it and I think the rap freshens it up a bit. :) Can't see it beating #15 but it should get Top 40 especially since Radio 1 are backing it with the new mix. If it was the album version being released...it would have done a Candy and made like #85. :P
July 1, 201014 yr How ridiculous and pointless, hope it misses the top 75 New York was a beautiful song, and now she adds a chav who raps over it and COMPLETELY destroys the song!
July 1, 201014 yr Thinking about it, I was convinced 3OH!3's 'Don't Trust Me' re-release would be a #55 and one week in the top 75 affair, but came close to outpeaking the original release so who knows, I far from approve of this however. If she actually re-releases her album with new tracks I'm just gonna download them illegally.
