But do you think it's normal that half of the participants are withdrawing and half of them don't bother even saying that they are? Most of those people are long term participating countries. And is it good to actually have 20 participants? Because it's like the edge, risky number, going below will most likely completely destroy BJSC imo. People will probably not want to come back to the contest because they will see the change. I wouldn't personally, if BJSC becomes a 10/15 participants thing with let's face it cheaper songs as less people will care about cheapness because the ones who care will have already left by then. lolz. Also the element of competition would be much weaker, it'd be easier to succeed and therefore people will be choosing safer songs. Nevermind there would be no variety whatsoever.

 

That is what i feel/think will become to BJSC in the nearest future if it keeps running. However i might well be overreacting and wrong and it could all be down to summer holidays, but i doubt that effect is so strong that currently only 35 people remained with 2-3 potentially leaving in the future too whereas last contest saw 48/49 contenders.

Except it was IV, i.e. it was just a start, not that many people even knew about the contest. In this case they know about it and they still withdrew. Okay, there might be some new members joining but BJSC on BJ is like GaGa in the world - EVERYBODY KNOWS IT/HER (except my Twimum :kink: Sadly it is :nocheer: lolz) and there is nowhere to hide from it so i believe every BJer has already made their mind up about it.

I consider as a bad move if mods decides to close and give contest a break.

 

I participate in Ukmix (long before I joined BJSC) and there is so less activity and no one talks about each other entries like we do in here, and yet functions just like the way it is...pick a country/present and vote...and not to mention that it is monthly.

 

I advise that whoever is bored of contest to take a break and not making contest ineligible also for the ones who still likes to participate.

What's the point in running a contest where 10-15 people take part a month? No, it's far better for all if there is an enforced break if we do decide to go with a break...

These could be my last contest as well :snif: I think it needs to be rested for a bit. Maybe it can be limited to 6 comps per year, so there is a big gap in between. Instead of having a comp in Sept, the next one could be in Oct.
