ugh first the naked and famous in up and now bjsc, i cannot stand that song, $h!tty ripoff of an already $h!tty band (passion pit)

 

So we strongly dislike each other's entries this month then :drama:

 

I'm familiar with Passion Pit's name but I've never actually listened to any of their stuff, I was instantly reminded of MGMT at their more poppy. I find it uplifting/one of my summer anthems :wub: But I guess I can see why people wouldn't like it, it's hardly an original sound.

same sound :S music for like 13 - 16 year oldz who think they're getting into super artsy/indie music when it's really just as mainstream/produced/poppy as lady gaga. this comment from the video "I hate it when I listen to amazing music like this and my friends tell me it's weird." sort of highlights that lolol.

 

i dunno i used to sort of like passion pit once upon a time but i really can't stand them now (also i just saw the little secrets video for the first time ever LOL omg it makes me want to die). and considering the naked and famous are a blatant ripoff it just makes me appreciate them even less, without passion pit i might just find it 'decent'. if we're still voting for 13/14/15 songs though as if it was one big final i may have to end up voting for it LOL, considering i've had slight difficulties recently even finding 10 songs i really like.

I can see what you mean, it's very similar. I actually really like that song on first listen :lol: :( But then I have very mainstream tastes so probably no surprise.

Nah I still sort of like that song, catchy, etc. Most people would like it if they gave it a shot I assume. Nothing wrong with it for being 'pop' (I'd consider my entry this month pop), but the culture around that aesthetic makes me want to cry. :(

On the subject of Quicksand, not keen on the album version. Like Boys and Girls a month earlier, the entered version pwns the album/release version imo

That's because NOONE KNOWS WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON

Can't believe there are still only 36 countries signed up :drama: Was my contest so bad last month that a quarter of the participants were driven away :lol: Or is it just semis coming back that's putting people off after the freedom of the 'big final'? Or possibly the amalgamation of a number of threads into one confusing everyone and nobody realising that the confirmation deadline's nearing until the last minute :lol:

Didn't somebody say somewhere along the line that the best idea would be to do the 'one big final' if participation was under 40 countries, and semis if it was over? I guess it's out of the question seeing as semis 'won' but it does seem rather pointless to weed 3 tracks out from each semi if participation stays this low.

 

Mind you, I did a semi to eliminate only 3 songs back in BJSC V but that was in the dark ages and I knew no better :kink:
