Isn't that only available in the UK?

I wasn't entirely sure as I rarely use iPlayer, but I gathered the show would still be available.

Totally agree. The only person on the show that spoke any sense was Scott Mills, surprisingly. I've read somewhere aswell that apparantly he's doing the commentary for the semi finals, not sure if it's already been mentioned on here.

It was great to see Ishtar included on the programme, even if they were being ridiculed  .

Maybe Radio 1 will playlist I Can closer to the contest, maybe in the couple of weeks leading up to it? . It would be very strange for the BBC to go to the effort of getting Blue to enter if their own radio stations don't support the song at all.

Is he really :o That's great, he's certainly my favourite DJ! I thought of you when I heard the Ishtar song on there

The BBC are a very disjointed organisation that don't seem to believe in cross promotion. They never playlist any of the reality show winner's songs (Lee Mead/Danielle Hope etc...) either, on any station and often they won't playlist the Comic Relief/Children In Need singles either. You'd think they'd want to maximise their money making effect, especially for singles raising money for charity! I'd love to believe that they'll playlist it but I don't even recall the last time a UK Eurovision entry was playlisted, maybe Precious was in 1999? That was a big chart hit with a relatively stable chart run post contest. I know that I didn't even know that it was our ESC entry, but bought it on single on the week of release because I loved it - so I was obviously aware of it via other means of promotion - I think CD:UK is where I first heard it thinking about it.

Scott Mills did seem to be pretty clued in. As did Sheridan Smith and the Atomic Kitten who's name escapes my mind [Jenny perhaps?]

It was Liz, although they really should have roped in Jenny seeing as she actually represented us once (as part of Precious)! Liz was in our national final in 2007 but failed to reach the top two.

That's what I've read, whether there's any truth in it I don't know. He does often play some of the Eurovision entries on his show in the week running up to the final and it would explain his appearance on that Blue show. I think I was the only person in Britain who loved O Julissi :kink: . I have to admit though, their performance in the semi final was tragic - breathless vocals, dark lighting and horrendous outfits :drama: . Their performance in the NF with the nodding pictures was divine  .

You're right about the BBC actually, they never support their own releases. I remember Alex Parks was pretty much shunned by Radio 1 despite winning Fame Academy. Thankfully Radio 2 stuck by her! I was aware of Precious because of A Song For Europe, or whatever it was called back then. I remember Alberta (not sure if anyone remembers her? YoYo Boy was amazing  ) coming second to them :kink:

I loved O Julissi too! Not as much as you granted but it went as high as #13? in my personal chart :D

It's very strange, I can see Radio 1 not playlisting Josh Dubovie and Scooch, fair enough. But Blue? A contemporary song that would fit perfectly with the playlist, by an act they've always supported before? If they do fail to playlist it, it will as good as prove that nothing from the contest will ever make it onto Radio 1.

I was surprised they didn't drag Jade back with the traitorous other two.

Maybe the BBC wanted to keep them for next year when they get back to embarrassing us.

Radio 1 is a load of $h!t anyway. They have this narrow definition of what is 'cool' which is so far off it's unreal.

Their refusal to play amazing European music just angers me. There is no excuse for it.

Scott has already played a clip of Moldova & joked about how he wants to represent Moldova next year, along with Lady GaGa. He's my favourite R1 DJ, it would be great if he does commentate.

Don't worry, myself & my mother both loved O Julissi. I even really liked her dress.

When Blue were announced, R1 were fine with announcing it during every news broadcast of the day, but when it comes to actually playing the song, it's a different matter...

Indeed, I was hoping for an appearance from Samantha Womack actually, but I guess she distances herself from it these days

I agree, and indie's been out for about 2 years now and most certainly is NOT currently cool, yet they fill half of their playlist with these hasbeen flops who can't even sell albums or gigs out anymore, let alone singles. Bizarre.

It was number one for about 10 weeks on my chart

Radio 1 are incredibly narrowminded, but I am surprised by the lack of support for Blue. Like I've said, hopefully it'll appear on the playlist around the end of April/start of May.

It was a wonder Radio 1 playlisted 'Alors On Danse' last year. I won't include 'We No Speak Americano' as techincally Yolanda Be Cool are Australian. Now, had they been Austrian ( :D ) I'd also use them as an example.

As for Blue being playlisted, it could still happen. Radio 1 were clearly reluctant to playlist Parade 'Louder' and more especially Olly Murs 'Please Don't Let Me Go'. After both charted (Olly going to #1), they soon added the songs to their C-list which is better than nothing.

What confuzzles me is Radio 1 insisting on A-listing tracks that are never going to be a hit EVER and even an X Factor performance would only send the track to the dizzy heights of #58. :heehee: Like I say, confuzzled. :(

Alors On Danse =/= Amazing European Music. Utterly vile track.

Oh so that was a bad example? Then that really does prove your point as I can't think of a single other big European hit that Radio 1 playlisted last year.

Edit; they A-listed 'Chica Bomb' by Dan Balan and that bombed.

Chica Bomb was throwaway crap, Alors On Danse was brilliant, one of my top five songs of the year  Don't forget Stereo Love and Hot too Hits! Romania's the only country they look to now for European hits  Alexandra Stan sounds right up their street in that case! I don't understand why Release Me's success in 2009 didn't show them that there's a huge market for Scandipop/dance here, it sold over 350k! It was a genuine 'YES!' moment when that was added to the playlist, I was ecstatic! Even moreso when it shot to #1 on iTunes unexpectedly! I don't quite get the same excitement from 'generic US club banger #4938' reaching #1 for some reason...

At least Tone, Lena, Caro et al all got their moment on Radio 2, I just wish that they had the same 'translating plays into sales' power that Radio 1 has!

I'm sorry Silas, but surely you can see why Radio 1 wouldn't playlist Butterflies? I like it but it's ridiculously twee.

I never suggested Radio 1 should playlist Tone. Butterflies does fit Radio 2 better. I was agreeing with "I just wish that they had the same 'translating plays into sales' power that Radio 1 has"

It got massive R2 plays but never sold. I was thrilled it was playlisted but gutted she didn't get her deserved success.

Had we been talking about Stuck In My Head/Crazy Cool then i might be arguing for a R1 playlisting
