YES. Those who say GOMW, would have been a better lead, no it wouldn't. 'All The Lovers' is an album-selling song, GOMW is just good for a single release and seeing as ATL was used to launch the album, it's done a fine job of it.

Yes, it was the absolute right choice, the sales and chart positions speak for themselves. ATL is classic Kylie but with a newer sound to it.

It is a good representation of the album too.

Yes. It may not have made No.1 but when I speak to a lot of people they adore the song, even people who aren't fans. It's become a song that people will remember Kylie for and it helped launch the album in spectacular style!

Yes for me and 100% yes, its definitly the best song on the album, its very catchy and very radio friendly and what i alway sthink important is represents thestyle of thealbum on the whole very very well. For me its her 2nd best lead single since joining parlophone with cant get you out of my head been the 1st choice.
Yeah, definately without a doubt. Its a strong lead single. Look at how well the album has done and the single has nearly done 200k already.
Yes, definitely the right choice. Wasn't totally instant with me at first but I love it now! Sh!ts all over 2 Hearts.

I 100% agree it $h!ts over 2 hearts, all the lovers for me was instant i loved it from when i heard it and loved the preview clip aswell, and it has grown and grown on me more and more especially since i seen some of the live performances. I can see all the lovers ranking quite high on my list of all time faveourite kylie singles.

Definitely not - everyone who I know who's heard the album pick up on 'Closer' - it's definitely the most 'out there' of all the album tracks and could be a massive club song if the remixes were right.

All The Lovers is a... nice single - commercial, pleasant and catchy... but hardly an earth-shattering in-your-face return. The best thing about it is the video...

And Get Outta My Way is bleurgh.... chessy camp pop... which, ok, Kylie does well, but again - a tad obvious and ordinary. And 'Put Your Hands Up' is beyond terrible - dated, but not in a good way, and just humdrum suburban gay disco muzak.

'Closer' should've been the lead single - it's head and shoulders above the rest of Aphrodite.

Yeah, but Closer wouldn't have really done much to sell the album - it's not hugely commercial, casual listeners would have shied away from it, it wouldn't really have hovered around the top ten for a while as All The Lovers did. I think it would make a good later single.

As for myself, All The Lovers was by far the best choice for lead single - although I reckon as a curve ball Cupid Boy could've done the job of Closer as lead single a lot more effectively...

"massive club song"

I kinda agree but kinda disagree. I agree because I think Closer is one of the best tracks on the album and def needs to be a single but def not the first single from the album. Why would you want a song thats a "massive club song". That doesnt always transend into sales by casual buyers. Its always to best to release the commercial track first to get the people in.

ya i agree with you dannyboy, and closer would be a great single but i dont think it would have sold aswell as the lead single as all the lovers nor do i think it would have drummed up album sales like all the lovers has done,

I'm going to say 'yes', because:

1. It reflects (combined with the video) a nice summery vibe. They couldn't have picked a better time to release it!

2. It showcases what 'Aphrodite' stands for.

3. It's good, though not the best on the album. Better pick the strongest track as second/third release (also to keep the album selling).

I guess it's the correct lead single, but it's not my favourite track on the album. I actually find it a bit weak, and prefer both "Get Outta My Way" & "Put Your Hands Up", but giving that it got a good chart position, and that the album has sold well on the back of it, I guess "All The Lovers" was the correct lead single.
Definitely the right lead single for me. Put Your Hands Up would have been really uninspiring/generic as a comeback single, even if I do like it and wouldn't have shifted many albums. I probably wouldn't pick it as a single at all, let alone a lead. All The Lovers is classic Kylie but with a subtle cool edge, appealing to fans, casual buyers and critics, and as a slightly slower song than she usually releases, it's a perfect album seller. Perfect lead in every way possible in my opinion.
