Ben, you don't have LCD Soundsystem in a top 70?! :o

In no particular order, albums and singles I've loved this year. I've bolded what would probably be my top 5 of each.

BRMC 'Beat The Devil's Tattoo'

Bombay Bicycle Club 'Flaws'

Broken Bells 'Broken Bells'

Caribou 'Swim'

Chemical Brothers 'Further'

Codeine Velvet Club 'Codeine Velvet Club'

Crystal Castles 'Crystal Castles'

The Courteeners 'Falcon'

Dangermouse & Sparklehorse ''Dark Night of the Soul'

Delorean 'Subiza'

Delphic 'Acolyte'

The Drums 'The Drums'

Ellie Goulding 'Lights'

Foals 'Total Lights Forever'

The Futureheads 'The Chaos'

The Golden Filter 'Voluspa'

Gorillaz 'Plastic Beach'

The Hold Steady 'Heaven Is Whenever'

Janelle Monae 'The ArchAndroid'

JJ 'JJ no.3'

LCD Soundsystem 'This Is Happening'

MGMT 'Conratulations'

The National 'High Violet'

Robyn 'Body Talk Pt. 1'

Shout Out Louds 'Work'

Sleigh Bells 'Treats'

These New Puritans 'Hidden'

Two Door Cinema Club 'Tourist History'

Vampire Weekend 'Contra'

Yeasayer 'Odd Blood'

Singles there are too many to think about at the moment.... But here are 10.

I Blame Coco & Robyn 'Caesar'

Big Pink 'Velvet'

Mumford & Sons 'The Cave'

Fang Island 'Daisy'

Lady GaGa 'Telephone'

Vampire Weekend 'Giving Up the Gun'

National 'Bloodbuzz Ohio'

Golden Filter 'Hide Me'

Robyn 'Dancing On My Own'

Pains of Being Pure at Heart 'Say No To Love'

I need to refamiliarise myself with modern indie stuff, I'm so out of touch :/ I run a record shop so I'm always surrounded by vinyl but not a lot of what I buy in is post 80's/90's  I would like to stock new vinyl releases eventually though.

The best new thing I've heard all year is probably Memory Tapes, I've also liked Joy Orbison (a lot) and Fenech-Soler. And lots of one-off bits on Xfm/6 Music - Dinosaur Pile-Up, Dum Dum Girls etc.

Ben, you don't have LCD Soundsystem in a top 70?! :o

Nope. :o I dunno, the more I've listened to it the more I really just...feel eh about it? Like Dance Yrself Clean and I Can Change are choonage but overall I'm sort of starting to tire of the culture around LCD, like he's this supreme authority on making music about irony / hipsters / the 'indie scene' / aging masculinity / whatever. Like I almost feel like Drunk Girls is a relatively painful song lawlz. Which is why I Can Change is kind of a nice change, but the rest of the album is just kind of more of the same. It's a bit like The National's new album, good, solid, but more of the same so it's wearing a bit thin. The National come close to self parody on a few songs.

Though to be fair it probably is worthy of Top 70. I just sort of left it off to decide on l8errr.

Maybe because my hopes for LCD were built soooo high by the amazingness of Sound of Silver, This is Happening just leaves me going meh.

On par with Goldfrapp for most disappointing of the year so far.

I adore 'This Is Happening'. Probably not quite up there with 'Sound of Silver' but still great. 'Drunk Girls' is pretty poor and 'Somebody's Calling Me' and 'Pow Pow' are just good but I love the rest.

Same with The National; 'Lemonworld', 'Terrible Love', 'England', 'Bloodbuzz Ohio'. And I think 'Converstaion 16' is my favourite song of the year.

I'm including pre-2010 albums that i've listened to for the first time this year coz if i hadn't heard them before then they're still 2010 albums in my heart (AWW).

I'll backtrack myself and say that maybe i'd like it more if i didnt have it in $h!tty quality. Even so, i was expecting more dream pop like Teen Dream and to me it just sounded "eh". i realise i have no words (n). However even though jj are terrible, and their lyrics could've been written by a 4 year old i still can't stop listening to them :(

only 6/10 for streetlight and 5/10 for DEP? your a mess Harvey Herridge.

6/10 is GOOD. and its only a covers album, but a very good one at that. DEP are nice whenever i want to listen to heavy music, which isn't that often. i'm not a mess Christopher Fishlock </3

Need to do a bit of reboot of this as I need to listen again to a lot of them. But Beach House and Sleigh Bells would be top two.

These are my albums of the year. A mix of albums, some that belong in this forum and some that don't, and some that came out this year and some from ages ago. This is just what's dominated my year.

#01 Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles [2010]

#02 Uffie - Sex Dreams & Denim Jeans

#03 Kelis - Flesh Tone

#04 Basement Jaxx - Scars

#05 Rihanna - Rated R

#06 Trentemoller - Into The Great Wide Yonder

#07 Sleigh Bells - Treats

#08 Crookers - Tons Of Friends

#09 Lady GaGa - The Fame Monster

#10 Massive Attack - Heligoland

#11 Bjork - Greatest Hits

#12 The Golden Filter - Voluspa

#13 M.I.A - /\/\ /\ Y /\

#14 Marina & The Diamonds - The Family Jewels

#15 Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours (2008?!)

#16 Rusko - O.M.G

#17 No Doubt - The Singles: 1992-2003

#18 Groove Armada - Black Light

#19 Hot Chip - One Life Stand

#20 Janelle Monaé - The ArchAndroid

I was hoping that Autechre would be in this list but they're just difficult to listen to these days, the rhythms throw me off immensely. Time for new Aphex Twin pls~

I would do singles but it would just be chart stuff really.

I'm really $h!t with albums, I only ever like two tracks off it usually or I get bored easily so yeah it's hard enough for me to make a Top 20.
