July 28, 201014 yr Nice to see Sophie made it quite high, he's had some brillaint material. Shame though to see Whitney miss out to some of the trash thats higher than her. Wasnt expecting Alanis to make it this high. I suppose Miley was inevitable but Diana Vickers, seriously?
July 28, 201014 yr 074 Brandy Brandy will always have a place in my heart thanks to Right Here (Departed) and Afrodisiac, two of the best R&B songs ever without doubt. Her Human album is mostly strong but I never got into Afrodisiac so much, even though everyone always says it's her best. One day maybe. Best song: Right Here (Departed) 071 Mary J Blige I used to rate her as my favourite R&B artist but no longer. She seems to have completely lost 'it' and now she just makes boring, insipid R&B midtempos x12 and calls it an album. And people still BUY IT. Odd. But she'll always have The Breakthrough which is one of the best R&B albums ever made. Best song: Be Without You. 068 Keri Hilson I can never understand why she has so many haters. How can Keri Hilson of all people inspire hatred in anyone? I was living for her album at the time. Still enjoy it very much although the filler has prevailed. Best song: Knock You Down. 067 Gabriella Cilmi From the first album only Sweet About Me and Got No Place To Go (which is SO much better than that awful Bed song) still do it for me but Ten is brilliant. Such a shame it didn't get much in the way of success or appreciation. Best song: What If You Knew. 065 Jennifer Hudson One of the best technical voices in pop/R&B today but sometimes lacking in emotion. Very likeable though and has a load of public goodwill after her family tragedy and her surpise weight loss so hopefully she has a long career ahead of her in which she'll record some songs which truly do the voice justice. Best song: All Dressed Up In Love 058 Dannii Minogue 'Laps up Kylie's scraps'? I thought only really dense people made that tired old comparison. Her music is nothing like Kylie's, really, so this confuses me a great deal. There was a time she was my #1 artist and certainly Neon Nights is one of my favourite albums still but the constant waiting for new material and being messed around by her label/not having the passion to keep recording has weakened my fandom a fair bit sadly. Still love her as a woman and what little music she's put out over the last decade remains great. Best song: You Won't Forget About Me 056 Dido God love this woman. I feel sorry for anybody who dismisses her as bland. Her first album is fantastic with the exception of two songs and the second is about half great. Sadly she lost her way a bit musically but I have faith that she can find her stride again. Such a mesmerising voice. Best song: Take My Hand 055 Melanie C Like Dannii I used to love her more than I do currently but with Melanie I think over time I've simply become a little less keen on her albums. They're always so patchy, half brilliant and half filler. I'd say her best is either Northern Star (for sheer number of classics) or Beautiful Intentions (more consistent and she finally found a sound she could stick with for a whole album). Best song: Next Best Superstar 052 Delta Goodrem I always find it so bizarre that people say her third album is her worst - musically it's Delta at her least bland and MOR! The second album is such a bore but Delta is 2/3rds very listenable/brilliant. She's an unexpectedly good performer too. Best song: Believe Again 051 Jennifer Lopez AMAZING WOMAN. People are so quick to shit on her but she's shown time and again that she's got a gem of a personality. Of course this is about the music and whilst she's never had a GREAT album each of her six have contained numerous great songs. If she ever releases a Hits album it'll be essential. Best song: Waiting For Tonight 048= Ciara She used to be so good! The Evolution, when it's good, is great. She used to be so effortless at making songs that had a melody and were catchy. Now she just makes boring slushy 'jams' and 'hot bangers' which suck major ass. I fear the new album won't have a single good song on, going by the leaks. Shame. Best song: My Love 041 Shania Twain For somebody with one good album I love her SO much more than I should. But said album is GREAT - at least 10 of the 16 songs are pretty much classics. And in her defence whilst the Up! album was cheesy and too lightweight some songs are just plain irresistable. Great personality too - fun when required, always dignified. Best song: That Don't Impress Me Much (Original 'country' version!) 036 Sophie Ellis-Bextor This may be the highest chart position Sophie achieves in the remainder of her career! As the total package I never seem able to muster as much enthusiasm for Sophie as I should given that her back catalogue contains two truly great albums and a repetoire of fantastic singles. If the new one ever comes out I fear it won't touch Trip The Light though... maybe she's just an 'every other album' type of artist. Best song: Murder On The Dancefloor (I feel bad since that's such a generic choice but it's just a once in a career sort of song.)
July 29, 201014 yr I've missed a lot, Sophie should've been much higher. That woman is truly amazing, and as much as I love Diana V, WHY is she higher?!
July 29, 201014 yr I'm surprised Miley hasn't shown up yet, when the voting started I didn't think she's do very well. I'm glad though :)
July 29, 201014 yr No! Keri hate must not be permitted! :drama: She's inoffensive and I really can't see why people hate on her as much as they do :( She's extremely talented and deserves every bit of success she gets, whether it's featuring on someone else's track, or one of her own. She is brilliant at what she does and shows versatility within the R&B and Pop genre, unlike most generic R&B females nowadays. :( I can't believe Florence Whore is above her and still to come inside the top 30! Now there's a vile woman with a vile voice! :puke:
July 29, 201014 yr Alexandra Burke and Miley Cyrus in the top 40? Really. I like those girls, Ashlee Simpson should be higher! No Nick, no she shouldn't. I think Fergie is underrated when it comes to this generations pop females. She has an amazing voice and has written some FANTASTIC tracks.
July 29, 201014 yr Author Anyway: http://www.jasmynecannick.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/kelis.jpg 035 Kelis + 213 Pts + Stats Votes: 16 Highest Position: 2 Top Ten: 6 Years Active: 1997 - Present I've never actually seen anybody say a bad word about Kelis. She seems to be one of those artists who doesn't offend anybody but is constantly struggling for mainstream attention. The singer first came to mass attention in 2000 with Caught Out There and emerges every couple of years with a poor selling album but iconic, original and inventive singles - Trick Me, Good Stuff, Lil Star, Acapella and of course the pop culture gem that is Milkshake. I'm loving her new dance/house orientated direction but I still feel as if her best work came from Kaleidoscope & Tasty http://www.bsckids.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/miley-cyrus1.jpg 034 Miley Cyrus + 218 Pts + Stats Votes: 14 Highest Position: 1 [brad2k88, Lee Wallace] Top Ten: 7 Bitch Slapped: 2 [Propilot87, X gunners x] Years Active: 2001 - Present I don't like this girl as a person. She only has to open her mouth and I want to throw things at her. But she is a modern day pop princess, plucked from Disney and groomed [not dirtily] by her Pops Billy Ray Cyrus to becoming a money making machine. Cyrus first came to attention in the Disney series Hannah Montana. In an attempt to shake off her Disney good girl image, she's released material under her own name including my personal favourite Miley song 7 Things. Controversy and sluttiness ahoy as she rebelled against her squeaky clean image and sexed it up for latest album Can't Be Tamed. Does she deserve to be this high? Erm not really but there are two worse artists to come imo. She's clearly a bit marmite-esque with Buzzjack judging by the votes.
July 29, 201014 yr I love both of them, especially Kelis. Miley'a hair on that picture makes me feel slightly sick however. Can't believe Diana Vickers is still to come :o
July 29, 201014 yr Author http://turbo.inquisitr.com/wp-content/2010/04/Florence_Welch.jpg 033 Florence Welch + 221 Pts + Stats Votes: 18 Highest Position: 2 Top Ten: 6 Bitch Slapped: 3 [Jonjo, Jack, Jaimeed] Years Active: 2007 - Present The nation has a new darling. And her name is Florence. No, not Nightengale :( Florence is of course the face of the aptly titled Florence & The Machine, a band which fuses elements of rock and soul into their music combined with Florence's dramatic and sensual presence. The band's rise to fame saw them struggle behind the scenes until critics rallied round their material and 2009 was hailed as their breakthrough year. Their first official album Lungs has spent over a year on the UK charts selling over a million copies in the process. The main question is. Is she just a flash in the pan? I like some of the album but I personally think her rendition of The Source's You've Got The Love is the worst thing I've ever heard. http://www.greenzer.com/blog/blog_image_store/2009/08/alanis-morissette.jpg 032 Alanis Morissette + 223 Pts + Stats Votes: 14 Highest Position: 1 [shoat] Top Ten: 8 Years Active: 1987 - Present Years before Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson got all morbid and angsty, Alanis Morissette was the leading pop-rock chick on the block. Severely overlooked outside the success of Jagged Little Pill which shifted more than 30 million copies worldwide, Canadian born Alanis' placing surprises me a lot! I think she is fantastic and a brilliant lyricist who has the bitter and sarcastic tone to her voice to really sell her music. Personal highlights include You Oughta Know, Hand In My Pocket, Underneath, Precious Illusions, Perfect & Ironic. Plz check out her hilarious parody of the Black Eyed Peas' My Humps on Youtube. http://www.kalamu.com/bol/wp-content/content/images/amy%20winehouse%2004.jpg 031 Amy Winehouse + 226 Pts + Stats Votes: 18 Highest Position: 5 Top Ten: 8 Bitch Slapped: 3 [Regina Flowers, Chart Wizard, Sarah] Years Active: 2003 - Present I appreciate and admire Winehouses' talent. However, she bored me to tears with her constant, drugs, drink, rehab bull$h!t back in 2008. Needless to say it kept her breakthrough album Back To Black selling all year and shifting more than 3 million units in the UK with its two versions combined. She's only actually released 2 albums but it seems like she's been around forever. I wonder if she even cares about her music, considering the state she's got herself into but there's already a lot of anticipation for her 3rd record which is now penciled for release in 2011. Again, I never expected her to be this high as I find her music to be rather samey and average. Imma gonna do the top 30 one by one tonight up to #11. ^_^
July 29, 201014 yr Wino above Alanis?! :o No, this is an outrage -_- She is so much more talented, you just need to listen to Flavors Of Entanglement.
July 29, 201014 yr Alanis is one person who robbed wholesale from Tori Amos and made millions in the process. She admits it herself. My faves are Thank U and I Was Hoping. She's not a bad lyricist at times.
July 29, 201014 yr Author Personally with the exception of Vickers, Cheryl Cole, Pixie Lott and Lily Allen, I think it's a rather good top 30. ^_^
July 29, 201014 yr I'm shocked, really shocked but pleased that diana is as high as this :o despite the really unfair stick she's got. at least we're clear of the bland artists. :D
