Excellent first episode, I'm hooked, next week's episode looks even better, starring James Nesbitt and Minnie Driver, British drama at its best.

Excellent, I just knew Clem's wife was on there, next week's episode looks so good. The series has been brilliant and has you hooked right from the start. I just wish they don't show trailers for the next episode.
Yeah I knew she was too. They did make a slight mistake however there was no windows where she was kept.
what actually happened in the first episode? i've watched the next 2 but missed the whole beginning :(

This has slowly got me gripped. At first I just watched out of curiosity for the big name cast (although what a come down for Minnie Driver and ER's Dr Kovac to be playing second fiddle to James Nesbitt and Orla Brady!). But this week's episode was fantastic drama. Plenty of last minute twists, and the segment were they were picking straws to decide who would sacrifice themselves was completely mesmerizing in a horrific way.

Minnie Driver is hardly second fiddle to Orla IMO.

This is an absolutely ridiculous show - from the seriouly BAD acting (I usually like James Nesbitt, but he's just RUBBISH in this, and frankly I'm surprised Minnie Driver actually managed to get under the water, doesn't wood normally float....?) to the frankly laughable exposition-ridden dialogue full of cheesy lines which would NEVER be said in real-life, to the fact that there is NO WAY anyone would allow such a motley bunch of emotionally compromised loonies anywhere near an "ever-so-important" expedition costing probably millions to mount, and not every Russian looks like a bloody Wrestler or Callum Keith Rennie by the way.....

...But in saying that, I cant help watching it to see how much WORSE and totally laughable it can get....

Train-Wreck Drama at its most hilariously naff..... :P

She is in that she hasn't yet been as crucial to the plot as Orla's character. Maybe that'll change. But right now it's difficult to remember that Minnie not James Nesbitt is the captain of the expedition.

Well I don't agree that the acting is THAT bad. But sure, the show's not without it's faults. I did think it rather odd that they allowed Nesbitt to be the one to explore the sunken ship given his wife had been on board, especially when they needed someone with a clear head to act straight away.

I still found it a pretty exciting watch though, especially the scenes with the matches, and the cowardly guy sacrificing himself in the end.

That was pretty harrowing at the end, fairly good episode, looking forward to the finale to see all of it come together.

It was so emotional. Orla is a superb actress.

What annoys me is that it's usually good actors who seem to just be "phoning in" their performances... Nesbitt and Driver are usually a fair bit better than this (as the likes of Murphy's Law and Jekyll proves in Nesbitt's case, and wasn't Minnie Driver nominated for an Oscar for 'Good Will Hunting' a decade or so back? Dearie ME, how far from acting grace she's fallen... ). As for most of the rest of them, never seen them before, so cant judge whether they're better at other stuff, I just know that they're not really great in this....

Watching this show so shortly after the superb work of drama that was Sherlock is just a bit like a firecracker going off after a 10 mega-ton explosion IMO....

Does Orla Brady have a prominent role in this? I think I read she was just in flashbacks or something. I should probably have watched given that I follow her career like a hawk/stalker but the show itself looked awful so...

I don't want to give anything away but she is a main character and not through flashbacks.

I really don't see the acting as that bad, Nesbitt seems just as good as anything i've seen him in, Driver is a lil bit wooden but I think that suits the character and she was much improved this week. The guy from ER was never that good in the first place and Brady was terrific last episode.

I dont agree at all... Check out Jekyll and then tell me he's actually bothering to try in this series (probably not his fault to be fair, it's hard for an actor to be enthusiastic about such sh"t dialogue, so I guess it's just a case of go through the motions and just think about the money).... And, like I say, Minnie Driver was nominated for an Oscar, and now look at her... Awful, I genuinely feel sorry for her.... Goran Visnjc, yeah, he was never particularly great right enough, but even his acting in ER was better than this....

It's pretty obvious to me that the director of this series has no clue how to work with actors, he certainly doesn't appear to know how to get the best out of them, and the awful script/dialogue doesn't help matters either....

As I said anything I've seen him in, I've yet to see all of Jekyll.

GOOD GOD I just saw some of the final episode and what a load of TURD this is! I thought I was watching a parody of a sci fi, the dialogue/acting was that terrible. Orla Brady wasn't even STYLED WELL. This is a crime against mankind.

Worst thing is it actually looked really glossy too like they'd spent a ton of money on it! I'm going to have nightmares for the rest of my life.

this final episode was a huge let down. Orla is only styled like that as she was under sea for months and the russians chopped her hair off. This could have done with a few extra episodes as lots of plot holes were revealed i think.
