Posted August 5, 201014 yr mW5_4gZ0Jn4 NO! :( Ah well. Rather this was remade as opposed to 'Birds' (which will no doubt be given the green light to be made! :drama:)
August 6, 201014 yr Piranha was lame-ass "Jaws" rip off when it was originally done, and judging by the trailer, it's still a lame-ass "Jaws" rip-off....... Remake of The Birds??? Gawd I hope not, Van Sant's remake of "Psycho" was really enough to be honest... You cant improve on genius, you just tarnish it, and Hitchcock was one of cinema's real geniuses, and if someone like Van Sant, as good as he can be, cant get it right, what hope is there for anyone else...?
August 6, 201014 yr Does Kelly Brook get eaten to bits in this. She acts in it, so I'm pretty sure that this movie is going to be spectacular!...

August 9, 201014 yr Whether it was lame or not is a side issue but the original was a deliberate parody of Jaws, so it ahd to be a rip-off by default At least for the remake Alexandre Aja is director so it could be well made nonsense Now, was it really a "deliberate parody" of Jaws, or is that just something they claimed after cinema audiences were p!ssing themselves laughing at how overall crap it was.....?  TBH, I think Aja has totally lost the plot now in being involved with stuff like this.... Shame too, because "Haute Tension" was an example of a director coming into the Horror genre who had a hell of a lof of potential, Euro Horror has had a revival of late with some really good horror films coming out of France, Spain, even Belgium, in the past few years.... "Hills Have Eyes" remake certainly was good for the first hour or so (ending was a bit "meh" though), but the remake of "Into The Mirror" was pointless, and "Piranha 3-D" just looks like the same old cliched crap being put into 3D just to sell it to an audience, AND make them pay more for the privelege.....
August 9, 201014 yr They should say in the trailer "kelly brooks is eaten" the box office will go up!
August 9, 201014 yr I know it's not going to be outstanding or anything but it looks like alot of fun and not to be taken too seriously either. I think I'll at least enjoy it.

August 10, 201014 yr I know it's not going to be outstanding or anything but it looks like alot of fun and not to be taken too seriously either. I think I'll at least enjoy it. Do you necessarily think though, that given it's "not going to be outstanding", that people should actually feel obliged to pay about £2 more for the privelege of seeing it....? This 3-D malarkay is just a scam if you ask me, it's not even an original concept, 3-D films have existed since the 1950s.... -_- Also, it saddens me when directors who actually have talent and flair as Aja does, get the dollar signs in front of their eyes and p!ss away their talent on this sort of 'B-Movie' schlock when they clearly are better than this.....
August 10, 201014 yr Well Orange Wednesdays come in handy for things like this haha. I think it'll be a laugh and a good cinema night out, which is why it might do okay in the box office and why I'll be seeing it. From the trailer it looks more like a comedy if anything though.
August 10, 201014 yr Well I know it'll be crap but I'm taking my kid to see it. I thought the original Piranha was rubbish ... and I agree with Grim that it wasn't called a 'parody' until they saw people's reactions to it ... and then decided it was 'tongue-in-cheek'. But still ... I'm sure I'll enjoy it more than that crap Titanic ... what a waste of a few hours that was! Norma Is it coincidence that Richard Dreyfuss's character in this has the same name as his character in Jaws? Edited August 10, 201014 yr by Norma_Snockers
August 12, 201014 yr Is it coincidence that Richard Dreyfuss's character in this has the same name as his character in Jaws? Nope, it's probably more "post-modernism"..... Wouldn't be at all surprised if they give him the line "all they do is swim and eat and make baby Piranhas...."
August 21, 201014 yr Wasn't expecting much... but I was so tense through out this! Really jumpy. I tried to anticipate something to happen during the quiet scenes, but most were out of the blue. Has to be one of the most goriest bloodfests I've ever seen in Cinema haha. Edited August 21, 201014 yr by Jamieed

It was directed by Joe Dante which just about tells you everything you need to know about whether it was intended to be serious or not. Let's not forget this is the man who made Gremlins, The Howling, Amazon Women On The Moon and The 'Burbs among others. The man just doesn't do serious horror. Mainly agree with you about Aja and totally agree about 3-D
August 21, 201014 yr Well I know it'll be crap but I'm taking my kid to see it. How old is he/she as it's an 18? ;)
August 23, 201014 yr Furious bloody furious! I was planning to watch this and take my kid ... then saw the 18 rating! I mean ... wtf? Shouldn't that rating be reserved for films like Saw, Hostel, Wrong Turn, etc. Surely Piranha is more of an adventure film. Will have to wait for the dvd now ... I don't know anyone over 18 who'll come to the cinema to watch this with me! Norma
