Nice chart as usual, Chris. Not 100% sure about that Hoosiers song though! It does deserve top 10 on the official chart however....

Cheers Matt :D

I actually think 'Choices' is The Hoosiers best single yet. Much better than some of the dirge they released in 2007. Iirc, 'Goodbye Mr A' was the only single of their from their debut album that made my chart. So bizarrely this would only be their second hit in my chart - but it's easily their most successful.

That said, it doesn't compare to my top 4 which are by far my fave songs around at the moment.

I loved Goodbye Mr A - made 4 or 3 on my chart I think - I did hear their last album and it suffered from Scouting For Girls syndrome by sounding all the same

I prefer your top 4 too (although am hugely going off Billionaire)

'Goodbye Mr A' peaked at no. 6 for me but plummeted down the chart after that. 'Choices' will probably drop down depending on what enters next week. At least The Hoosiers only two singles to make my chart went top 10. Scouting For Girls have yet to score any top 10 hits for me and, going of their latest effort 'Famous', that doesn't look set to change. :kink: Their biggest hit for me was 'It's All About You' which made #18 when it was first released. 'She's So Lovely' and 'This Ain't A Love Song' both peaked at #20 for me.

Yes, my top 4 is  Shame that 'Billionaire' is getting boring for you. I think it's a great song albeit moreso musically rather than lyrically but it's extremely catchy.

Hi Chris

Great chart as usual

Cheers Martin :D

03 (03) Eminem feat. Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie (02-02-03-03) [4 wks] This has been a fairly slow burner in my personal chart, climbing slowly bit at a time, beginning to like it a lot more now, the rap fits so well with the rest of the track

'Love The Way You Lie' was instant for me. From the first time I heard this, I was really impressed. Especially as Eminem had seemed to just released crap novelty rubbish or non-songs that didn't make any impact on me whatsoever. This is a real return to form for Eminem and its longevity in the UK charts is thoroughly deserved.

09 (--) Ash - Carnal Love (09) [1 wk] Never been much of an Ash fan since Charlotte left, the A-Z catalogue is a bit of a

overkill for me.

Ash have actually released a couple of great tracks thia era. Have you actually heard 'Carnal Love'? It's easily the best of the tracks they've been releasing - bettering the #12 peak of 'Arcadia'.

11 (11) Katy Perry feat. Snoop Dogg - California Gurls (03-03-04-07-06-11-11) [7 wks] Have you heard Teenage Dream, bit different, still on the fence over it

I haven't heard 'Teenage Dream'. Will probably hear it on YouTube at some point. I'm just aware that people can upload new songs at the wrong pitch which is really offputting.

28 (18) Katie Melua - A Happy Place (18-28) [2 wks] Not a patch of her previous single the Flood, was far more superior and different

Exactly what I posted in my chart thread last week. :P

30 (--) Ne-Yo - Beautiful Monster (30) [1 wk] This is a grower

Really? I've heard it a few times and believe me, this song ain't growing on me. I just knew it was gonna go to no. 1 in the UK charts. Yet another of 2010's non-no. 1 singles. -_- Nobody will remember this song in six months time.

I see Brendon Flowers is on your Pre-Release chart I've really gone off that already, its nothing special, it goes nowhere after awhile.

Really? If anything, this has been a slow burner but I now think it's a brilliant song. I can see this doing well in my chart in the coming weeks. Whilst I'm at it, let me recommend a song for you - you may like it, or maybe not:

Sia - Clap Your Hands

'Clap Your Hands' has started to appear in a couple of European charts recently and entered the HET30 last week leading me to listen to the song. It's ended up being one of my most played songs of the last week. It reminds me of Moloko Vs The Gossip.

Carnal Love is not that bad, but I've lost all track of all their singles.

Unfortunately I do like it -_- I've caught that bug

Now this I like, I remember someone using the track in the BJSC comp, and fell in love with the track, I have to chart this track at some point, one track that has got away from me.

Well they've been releasing a single every fortnight since last September.

Bug? Since when has US RnB been a virus? :kink: Like I've said before, 'Beautiful Monster' is a poor mans' 'Closer'.

Oooh!!! :o Who entered Sia into BJBB. Whoever it was, they're a legend. I've sort of become a bit obsessed with this song. It's released on the 16th August apparantly but it'll no doubt bomb in the UK. Would be a pleasant surprise if the track somehow managed to at least make the UK top 40.

Thanks CJ :D

I think it was Tyron or Pavel, its one of the two, my memory is like a sieve these days :snif:

I'm hoping it can be a big hit but I've not seen the video on any of the UK music channels. If it wasn't for the song doing well in countries like Holland, Slovenia, Luxumburg and Faroe Islands I probably wouldn't have discovered this track.

Oh, it was Tirren btw. ^_^

05 (--) The Hoosiers - Choices (05) [1 wk] Easily their best single to date, so naturally can't go top ten in the UK where those two utter monstrosities that they unleashed upon the nation in 2007 could :drama:

Well 'Goodbye Mr A' was good but got boring fast. Perhaps 'Choices' may get boring fast too but it is still their best single to date. It's just embarrassing to think Scouting For Girls got to no. 1 with such a non-song earlier this year.

10 (--) Flo-Rida feat. David Guetta - Club Can't Handle Me (10) [1 wk] Goes on and off me, shameless rip off but very catchy

Oh yes, I'm very aware how much this track rips off 'I Gotta Feeling'. To think Black Eyed Peas were spending their final week at no. 1 in my chart this week a year. Who'd have thought 'IGF' would eventually become the first single in the UK to sell over 1 million downloads, yet alone copies. I wonder how much it's sold now. :o Anyways, as for Flo-Rida I do like 'Club Can't Handle Me' and reckon with this weeks drought for new releaes, this might benefit and possibly climb next week.

31 (--) Chicane feat. Adam Young - Middledistancerunner (31) [1 wk] Not too bad I suppose, but I expected a lot more from this pairing

Well it's not a patch on 'Fireflies' if we're talking Adam Young. On the other hand, it's not a patch on 'Saltwater' or 'Poppiholla' if we're talking Chicane. It's alright and good enough to just make a small impact on my chart.

40 (29) Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite (02-03-05-09-13-13-18-24-29-40) [10 wks] Still top ten in a lot of territories I've noticed :o

This is quite a bizzare one. Looking at the European chart data I collected towards this weeks HET30, 'Satellite' appeared in the following countries:

#5 Norway

#6 Poland (it's only just gone top 10 here  )

#7 Faroe Islands

#10 Lithuania

#10 Sweden

Cheers Richard :D

Nothing they'd ever done before ever approached anything above diabolical for me, particularly Goodbye Mr A :( True, my favourite Chicane singles are probably Offshore, Stoned In Love and No Ordinary Morning, as well as Saltwater of course - couldn't care less about Don't Give Up. He has a pretty good back catalogue actually, I do own his greatest hits album and need to find it and load it onto my iPod :heehee: Strange that so many countries are still listening to and buying Satellite. I guess Eurovision songs are just normal chart music to most countries though  WTF at Poland though?

I suspect 'Choices' may stick around for a bit when the album is released next week. If the album version is cherry picked, sales just sustain themselves for a couple of weeks.

My fave Chicane single is 'Saltwater' by a country mile. I never understood what made 'Don't Give Up' so special. It was very much a non-song of its time. Ten years on, who really remembers this song? Without the aid of YouTube, I'd struggle to remember how it goes. Oh yes, 'Stoned In Love' featuring Tom Jones. I always forget about this song for some reason.

Most of central Europe are over 'Satellites'. That's the impression I get - to Europe, these are just proper contemporary songs. As for Poland, I really don't understand why it's only now going top 10 there. Have to admit, it's not taken off across Eastern Europe in the same way 'Fairytale' did last year. Maybe Poland are setting the scene so Lena will be no. 1 in Russia, Ukraine next week.

Hey, here's my comments on your chart this week :D:

05 (--) The Hoosiers - Choices (05) [1 wk] Excellent comeback from The Hoosiers. If someone had told me at the start of this year that they'd be challenging for a number one on my chart, I would have laughed!

06 (--) Marina & The Diamonds - Oh No! (06) [1 wk] I really like this one now, but I don't recall liking it much when I previously listened to the album for some reason

28 (18) Katie Melua - A Happy Place (18-28) [2 wks] Shame to see this falling, I've got into it a lot more this week :D

30 (--) Ne-Yo - Beautiful Monster (30) [1 wk] Yet another number one that fails to make my chart

31 (--) Chicane feat. Adam Young - Middledistancerunner (31) [1 wk] Pretty good, but very similar to Poppiholla or whatever it was called  . Not sure why they went with Owl City's real name though, would have thought it would sell a few more copies if they used his stage name

40 (29) Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite (02-03-05-09-13-13-18-24-29-40) [10 wks] Shame to see this plummet for what I assume will be it's final week? :(

Excellent chart as per usual! :D

Challanging for #1 eh? :D Must take a look at your chart to see what's going on Ghostyland. :D True though, I never expected The Hoosiers to return with their best single...but could predict their inevitable "good song" fail in the UK charts. -_-

06 (--) Marina & The Diamonds - Oh No! (06) [1 wk] I really like this one now, but I don't recall liking it much when I previously listened to the album for some reason

This is really instant for me. On par with 'Hollywood' and tbh if i wasn't for my strong top 4 (by fair my fave four songs charting at the moment), Marina could well have been top 3.

28 (18) Katie Melua - A Happy Place (18-28) [2 wks] Shame to see this falling, I've got into it a lot more this week :D

It's just not 'The Flood' though. :( That song had something really special about it whereas this sounds just like 'The Flood' so the surprise factor was non-exsistant when I first listened to this.

30 (--) Ne-Yo - Beautiful Monster (30) [1 wk] Yet another number one that fails to make my chart

What is wrong with the Grate British iTunes buying public? I feel ashamed that UK is representing some complete and utter non-songs as the countries #1 hits of 2010. It really does pale in comparison to 2008 and 2009.

31 (--) Chicane feat. Adam Young - Middledistancerunner (31) [1 wk] Pretty good, but very similar to Poppiholla or whatever it was called  . Not sure why they went with Owl City's real name though, would have thought it would sell a few more copies if they used his stage name

I don't think even crediting the guest vocalist as Owl City would've made much difference. 'Umbrella Beach' performed dreadfully in the UK charts but then again it was a bit of a ho-hum single. I suspect Owl City will always be a one hit wonder in the UK - but what a hit is was!!! ^_^

40 (29) Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite (02-03-05-09-13-13-18-24-29-40) [10 wks] Shame to see this plummet for what I assume will be it's final week? :(

I reckon so but 10 weeks in my chart is a good feat for a Eurovision related song. I don't have any records of my charts from 2009 ( :drama: ) but I think 'Lose Control' by Waldo's People lasted about 10 weeks too.

Excellent chart as per usual! :D

Aww, gee...thanks!!!

Agreed. I was on holiday for 10 days in Tenerife the week it got to #1 so heard no chart/midweeks or anything like that. I returned on the Tuesday to find out that Don't Give Up had entered at #1 and it was a complete  moment. I didn't even think it would make the top ten it was so bland.

Ha, I doubt it. Fairytale was a once in a generation sort of song. You know it's done something very special indeed when it makes it into the UK top ten  But nevertheless, the success of Satellite is nothing to be sniffed at - still far bigger than any Eurovision winner besides Fairytale in the last few decades. I guess the download era and instant gratification has really helped out Eurovision entries, people can download them straight away and they shoot straight to the top of iTunes in most countries instantly. I wonder if next year's winner can become yet another international hit?
