Little Miss Jocelyn was just superb  Along with Jiffy ''this may take a loooooooooooooong time'', I also loved the bus driver, the woman who tries to hide the fact she's black and the woman with various husbands. Such an underated show.

Footballers Wives was fabolous too. Lost a bit of it's touch as it went on of course, especially when Zoe Lucker was absent from a lot of series 5 but I loved it. Along with Bad Girls, it was complete trash but amazing at the same time.

Judging by the picture, it looks right up your street AaronTM!

Probably because I would have been one of about one/two voters and she was my 'favourite character'.

I loved Little Miss Jocelyn too, I think most people watched it and thought it was STUPID and unfunny, but they're WRONG. I still sometimes say "veh-hih-cle", and look like a freak, because of Jiffy.

I'd have also expected Footballers' Wives to be higher. It strikes me as the sort of show Buzzjack would have raved over, were it around at the time (it may have been for the last series or two? I forget). It was certainly one of my favourites of the time.

Little Miss Jocelyn was f***ing terrible, quite frankly one of the worst comedies ever, really sums up buzzjack, get some culture and watch Spaced.

Night Night is amazing

Brothers and Sisters is great too

All the others I'm not so fussed on so far

There are far too many jokes too be made about that favourite character, so we'll just step right along. From what I gather, Red Dwarf is considered one of the greatest British cult comedies? Since it's sci-fi based, I would actually most likely enjoy it, but never having seen it, I'm afraid this is all I can muster up right about now!

Buzzjack's favourite character: Chastity Dingle

Finishing last of the five soaps featured in this countdown, the Yorkshire-based rural drama is probably the second-best soap right now so it's a shame to see it so low. That said, like all the soaps, it's had better days so perhaps people were voting based on past glories and thought that Hollyoaks or Corrie in the early/mid 00s were more entertaining than the equivalent period in Emmerdale. Personally I only started watching properly last year but I know that right now the show doesn't have a standout character/family dynasty like it's had in past with the Tates or, when they first arrived, the Kings.

Buzzjack's favourite character was Chastity Dingle but I suspect with more votes that wouldn't be the case. She's a highly likeable all-rounder who's very adept at comedy though, so it could be a lot worse! Whilst we're here I think I should plug my EMMERDALE CHARACTER SURVIVOR GAME which can be found on page 1 of this forum. Get votin'!

Medium definitely deserves to be higher than Ghost Whisperer.... I watched the first couple of seasons of GW and quite liked it (bad, BAD move in killing off Melinda's friend though and replace her with a whiny, annoying bint and her kid who suddenly sprouted about two and a half feet and became a body-builder between episodes, talk about "supernatural occurrences" ...), but thought the third was just a bit rubbish tbh.... Not really bothered with it since tbh... Medium is something which I think treats the whole concept with more "realism", better story lines, and has far more believable characters and better acting all in all...

And I also think that Teachers was miles better than Waterloo Road... Andrew Lincoln, vastly under-rated actor, IMO...

So, the spinoff of Buffy The Vampire Slayer finishes next. Angel follows the trials of Angel (shockingly) a vampire whose human soul was restored to him by gypsies as punishment for killing one of their own. I've never actually seen this of Buffy, but it certainly sounds worth watching. It's so good infact, you couldn't even decide on a single favourite character!

Never watched Red Dwarf or Angel.

Emmerdale on the otherhand bores me rigid

70 Samantha Who? 149pts

Buzzjack's favourite character: Samantha

This genuinely fantastic American sitcom, which was cancelled last year after two series, is surely one of the most underrated comedies to emerge in a long time. I truly can't fathom how it didn't win a huge fanbase and keep hold of its initial large audience - it's just laugh after laugh after laugh. It's not all in the writing either - all of the central characters deliver their lines perfectly and most importantly everybody in it is massively likeable. The title character proved to be Buzzjack's favourite but for me both of her two best friends - the gorgeous latino Andrea who floats around washpishly sniping insults at everybody in her bizarre whisper voice, and the larger-than-life Dena with the world's most infectious giggle - are equally as great, if not more entertaining.

The basic premise is simple: Samantha Newly is a nightmare of a woman who becomes the victim of a hit and run attack, after which she develops amnesia. As she tries to rebuild her life and recover her memory she begins to realise just how terrible she was prior to the accident and sets about becoming a changed, better woman, but has a hard time convincing other people that she's for real, mostly because they're all completely terrified of her. Everybody should watch this.

James you should definitely watch Angel - it's a lot more gritty and darker than Buffy - and it's finale easily trumps it's counterpart. In fact, it's one of the best final episodes for a show I've ever seen. Season 1 is mostly a case-of-the-week type affair however demonic law firm Wolfman & Heart act as an overall evil presence, similar to the Hellmouth, and there is an ongoing storyline of Angel trying to become "human" again. Season 2 doesn't do much to change that case-of-the-week formula, but from Season Three the stories become more complex, and Season Four is the equivilant to Buffy's Season Five, as it turns out a lot of the storylines have been building up to the $h!t that goes down during that season. Also, the final series has an episode that rivals The Body for sheer raw emotion.

Plus, Fred is just adorable.

You make a convincing case Daniel :o

'Hello there father.' This quote sums up both a part of my childhood and the extent of my knowledge of this comedy. From what I gather it's some form of irish based thang, and is like Red Dwarf considered one of the British greats of it's field. Perhaps I should get into more of these shows before writing about them. If any of y'all are into Father Ted feel free to give us a more entertaining description :(

never seen Samantha Who

but Father Ted is a brilliant program, so funny!

Samantha Who? is an excellent show, should be higher. Can't believe they canned it

68 The O.C. 158pts

Buzzjack's favourite character: Summer Roberts

One of the great teen dramas of all-time, The O.C. enjoyed massive success at its peak, becoming a kind of 90210 for the noughties. It told the story of the relationships between a group of family and friends living in the luxurious surroundings of Orange County, California. There were four primary teen characters - Seth Cohen and Summer Roberts, on-off bf and gf, and Ryan Atwood and Marissa Cooper, also dating. An interesting twist on their ridiculously wealthy lifestyle was that Ryan was the son of a criminal who the Cohens as good as adopted and became the legal guardians of, so there was an always an element of him feeling awkward accepting anything from them despite them loving him like a son. What always made me laugh was that he got to live in the poolhouse, a lavish all-in-one annexe right by the swimming pool, whilst Seth got stuck with a boring old bedroom in the main house. There was a very good episode where it's absolutely pissing it down with rain - and it never rains in the OC - and Seth and Ryan are looking at one another, Seth at the kitchen patio doors and Ryan in the poolhouse. Neither one of them wants to get wet so they just converse on the phone instead. How I crave that lifestyle.

Buzzjack voted Summer Roberts the best character in the show. For a time she was definitely my favourite but later I realised that the show was literally ALL about the adult characters and I think that's what differentiated it from other, more vapid teen dramas. The adults here were more interesting than the teens by far. Sandy Cohen, the coolest screen dad of all time, gave the show an incredible heart in my opinion; his wife Kirsten and her battle with alcoholism and subsequent stint in rehab was one of its best storylines (the episode where the Cohen family stage an intervention and she's carted away shrieking with tears is heartbreaking); Marissa's mom Julie is one of the most fabulous characters ever created - destructive, nasty, work-shy but happy to take all the credit, but ultimately desperate to be loved; and Kirsten's dad (also Julie's much older husband) Caleb was one of the most formidable characters on TV. Basically there was barely a weak link in this show but the adults are the ones who really shone. A 00s classic.

I actually started watching 'Nighty Night' yesterday - the first series is absolutely sick  The funeral scene is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I'd definitely rank it in my top 10 now :o.

Oh I forgot about this!

Ghost Whisperer, Nighty Night & Little Miss Jocelyn are criminally low.

Little Miss Jocelyn was f***ing terrible, quite frankly one of the worst comedies ever
Completely agree. She really is the most unfunny comedienne, probably ever.

Buzzjack's favourite character: Chastity Dingle

I may be alone, but Chastity reminds me of a white Alesha Dixon. Random I know.

Medium definitely deserves to be higher than Ghost Whisperer.... I watched the first couple of seasons of GW and quite liked it (bad, BAD move in killing off Melinda's friend though and replace her with a whiny, annoying bint and her kid who suddenly sprouted about two and a half feet and became a body-builder between episodes, talk about "supernatural occurrences" ...),
I loved Andrea. :( She was by far the best permanent character on GW.

Yep, Ghost Whisperer was literally only good while Andrea was in it, killing her off was effectivley the end of the shows quality and it went rapidly downhill.

And also Jonjo, I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN about Alesha :o

I can kind of agree with you on the OC. One of it's key strengths is that it was fairly balanced. The adults got to shine in the show as often as the kids (although naturally it was the kids who still got to be the household names).

I don't really know exactly what it was, but the OC captured my attention in a way that the likes of Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and 90120 NEVER have. I loved the cast and their odd little relationships. Ryan and Seth as loving brothers should NEVER have worked, but it did.
