July 29, 201311 yr Hannah McKay isn't killed off (yet). I don't think she'll be killed off anyway. (I am, too, inbetween episodes 3 and 4 right now so not revealing anything happening in the next two ones)

July 29, 201311 yr Oh. I really don't think it's her though. Would be weird and out of character. Plus her preferred method is poisons anyway.

Plus her preferred method is poisons anyway.I think it'll be plausible for the Doc to be killed by a poison instead of being shot/stabbed/whatever. I'm not going to lie, but I was liking the first three episodes, but was a little underwhelmed at first. But episode 4 and last night's episodes are brilliant. Really good. I'm just looking forward to Hannah's return mostly. I'm intrigued as to where they're going to go with this. Also, I am fans of a couple of Dexter Fan pages on facebook. One of them was running down their headlines in a status/post etc.. and I read "A Deb spin off?" or something. I really hope it doesn't happen :(

I really hope it doesn't happen :( Certainly looks like they're moving forward with the Dexter spin-off, the showrunner has signed a two-year deal with Showtime. I did wonder whether the provate investigation firm was being used as a possible idea for a spin-off. I was always under the impression Jennifer Carpenter didn't want to commit to anymore Dexter and move away from the role.
September 17, 201311 yr Really not feeling this season of Dexter. The way I've seen Breaking Bad's last season handled compared to this makes me wonder what happened in the writers room. I watched all seven seasons within about 2 months. Dexter's gone completely out of character and it's been poorly written. Horrendously is probably a better word. Hoping the finale redeems itself, but can already see what's going to happen..
September 24, 201311 yr Absolutely awful finale. Jonjo if you love this finale then you're blinded by your love for early Dexter. Major cop out. Characters that felt out of place, Quinn I'm looking at you. It's almost like the writers just gave up.
September 24, 201311 yr No, no. I agree. It was definitely a cop out and it all felt rushed and like they had no idea on how to end it and panicked because they got given another season to end on. It was so bizzarre. I am going to bloody miss it though :( So i'm just sad it's actually ended (and in that way ) definitely lost the plot a little bit. I read how the original show runner was gonna end it and it's far, FAR better. (I'll post it in here when i get back on my laptop) but yeah, very disappointing ending.
September 24, 201311 yr I'm 4 episodes behind but I already agree that this season is pretty much the worst. The whole therapy thing with Vogel is a bit far-fetched, Debra trying to 'kill' Dexter, the way they get over everything so quickly and OH SO SURPRISING Debra pretty much got over her issues about killing LaGuerta. Ha. Really not believable. So much less suspense and intensity overall as well. It feels very very rushed too.

I blame Showtime as much, but this season has been so poor. Such an awful final nemesis, I thy had introduced the character of Saxon right at the beginning it might have worked. After watching how the final season of Breaking Bad as been handled compared to this.. Dexter could have been ended so much better. Why they never met Miami Metro find out I'll never know. I honestly think this Dexter spin off might as well be season 9 of Dexter.. The fact they haven't announced what road the spin off will take says as much.
September 24, 201311 yr Looking back at the season as a whole, it all felt very rushed and like they only carried out this season "because they had to". The passion was clearly not there anymore and they definitely wanted to just finish it. So annoyed by the final episode. So many things happened when they really shouldn't have. :\ Just a couple of bits I've found... A movie rumour has been sparked by this... and here is that thing I was talking about a couple of posts up about how the original showrunner, Clyde Phillips, would have ended 'Dexter': "In the very last scene of the series," Philips explained, "Dexter wakes up. And everybody is going to think, 'Oh, it was a dream.' And then the camera pulls back and back and back and then we realize, 'No, it's not a dream.' Dexter's opening his eyes and he's on the execution table at the Florida Penitentiary. They're just starting to administer the drugs and he looks out through the window to the observation gallery. "And in the gallery are all the people that Dexter killed—including the Trinity Killer and the Ice Truck Killer (his brother Rudy), LaGuerta who he was responsible killing, Doakes who he's arguably responsible for, Rita, who he's arguably responsible for, Lila. All the big deaths, and also whoever the weekly episodic kills were. They are all there. "That's what I envisioned for the ending of Dexter. That everything we've seen over the past eight seasons has happened in the several seconds from the time they start Dexter's execution to the time they finish the execution and he dies. Literally, his life flashed before his eyes as he was about to die. I think it would have been a great, epic, very satisfying conclusion."
March 13, 201411 yr FINALLY finished this a couple of weeks ago. The last couple of episodes weren't THAT bad but still the finale was SO SHIT. The only thing I found kind of logical and right is Debra's death. Is it what the writers thought would guarantee a good finale? JUST that?! The whole show HAD to ultimately lead to Dexter's friends and relatives finding out his secret and the aftermath. It would be the most logical thing to do. LAGUERTA DIED FOR NOTHING
April 12, 201411 yr Just finished this. Definitely my favourite show ever. Does anyone have recommendations for similar shows? (don't say Breaking Bad please..) I agree that the final was a letdown though..I'd ruined most of it for myself before watching it anyway though so it didn't seem that much of a letdown in the end, haha.
April 12, 201411 yr Not really "similar", but just as messed up, 'Hannibal' I'm finding to be a perfectly suitable replacement

April 12, 201411 yr Ha! Of courseeee! Forgot about 'True Detective'! Need to start watching 'True Blood' myself actually.
April 12, 201411 yr Ha! Of courseeee! Forgot about 'True Detective'! Need to start watching 'True Blood' myself actually. True Blood's good, but it has it's good and bad moments. I'd wait until September to get in to it, Season 7 is the last so you might as well wait until it's over! True Detective is an absolute must!
