August 18, 201014 yr I've read about a year ago that some week there were 3 cassettes sold that week. Yes, if they are sold they are counted, there's no any reason to exclude them. The other thing is that the only sales are some sales of random cassettes still somehow managed to stay in the dark corners of the shops.
August 18, 201014 yr The Official UK Singles and Album Charts are produced by The OCC, based on a sample of more than 4,000 record outlets. They are compiled from actual sales last Sunday to Saturday, incorporating 7", 12", Cds, LPs, digital bundles, download sales, and cassettes I think that explains it as taken from the MW mag, there must be a few cassette singles still floating about.
August 18, 201014 yr Yeah a few cassette singles are produced as collector items for some indie artists
August 18, 201014 yr Cassettes are actually AMAZING. I still have some albums, like Avril Lavigne's Under My Skin, Gwen Stefani's LAMB, Moby's Hotel (<3), Anastacia's 'Anastacia', Ace Of Base  and many others
August 18, 201014 yr I just got Now 20-23 on cassette to take my collection back to when they changed the logo coz they were so cheap on Amazon Marketplace. I like the way they sound! Edited August 18, 201014 yr by AcerBen
August 18, 201014 yr theres actually a small underground cassette movement with some indie acts, by indie, i mean full on DIY independent indie that no one has heard of, but like some bands releasing all of their material only on tape, I think it's mainly American though so wouldnt apply, but none of it would sell well enough to go towards the chart anyway and arent sold commercially.
August 18, 201014 yr Sky Larkin released their song 'Antibodies' as a cassette, with the 3 individual members each customizing their own version. I don't think it sold enough to chart though. I used to love cassettes, just like vinyl there's something slightly more personal about them. I suspect (or wish) that in 10 years cassettes will come back into vogue just like vinyl has. What surprises me about the defination Mikey gave us is that minidisks aren't included in that total. I distinctly remember in the first singles chart after downloads were allowed to chart on their own (2007) there were 6 singles sold on the minidisk format.
August 18, 201014 yr I used to have cassettes at our old house like a decade ago. I remember seeing Metallica's The Black Album, a cassette that contains a parody of old hits & funny original tracks and some... some... boyband? :heehee: The cassette players though were a bit crappy. They sometimes suck the tape in, and it ruins the cassette.
August 18, 201014 yr I know EMI put Goldfrapp's 'Head First' album on tape and limited it to 500 copies, I don't know why - but I'd love a tape version of it lol
August 19, 201014 yr No casettes are sold at all anymore, havent been for years. i just got a cassette a few days ago (clive tanaka y su orchestra <3) and i have a bunch so um you're wrong? it's an indie music thing though obviously lady gaga isn't going to release the fame monster on cassette, indie music fanzz luv older technology and things like that whereas pop music is more about mass marketing and sales and releasing things on cassettes will obviously do them no good
