Really not impressed at the moment. I will be having it on repeat a hell of a lot. I really want to like this album

It isn't as instant as The Fame.

After listening to the album about 3 times, and Americano about twenty:

Bloody Mary - 9/10

Bad Kids - 4/10

Everything is pretty DAMN good. Minus Hair/Born This Way/Bad Kids.

 

Heavy Metal Love is slowly growing.

 

Americano or Scheiße should have been the lead singles. Both are f***ing intensely amazing.

Scheiße - 10

Government Hooker - 10 (oh god, one of the best things she's ever recorded :wub:)

Americano - 10 (scrape that, this just might be the best thing she's recorded :heart:)

Bloody Mary - 10 (as Chris - I think it was him - said, like So Happy I Could Die on Cocaine!)

Bad Kids - 9 (seems very underrated, I really like it. The other 3 are f***ing mindblowing, whereas this is just great though)

Highway Unicorn (Road To Love) - 10

Pretty damn stunning. I'll go more in depth after a few more listens and expect the rates to go up for a lot of the songs. I still think that The Edge of Glory is the best thing on here, it's frankly sensational. You & I = What's Up crossed with glam rock and country at the same time? Amazing! Marry The Night and Hair have massively grown on me too, still don't get why she picked Born This Way as the lead single, it literally is my least favourite song on the album...Not that I let that put me off, I was never overly won over by Xtina's Dirrty either but Stripped turned into one of my all time favourites very quickly. Anyway, Government Hooker through to Scheiße is a stunning segment of high quality but then it loses it a little until a great close. Far far far better than The Fame, difficult to compare with The Fame Monster as it was only an extended EP of sorts. I'll wait a few weeks before making any sort of comparison.

This album is horrible, only Heavy Metal Lover is really good track, Marry The Night sounds decent too, love the lyrics, Judas has growed on me before now sounds okay and Electric Chapel sounds decent but it reminds me on some old song I can't found which one... overall huge disappointment. *Delete others*

'Scheiße' 4 next single plz

If you strip back the intro and the Germanisms then Scheiße is essentially an incredibly similar song to Judas (done better mind you). I wouldn't want it as a single.

The only real stand outs for me atm are - Edge Of Glory, Hair & You And I.

 

Bad Kids, Bloody Mary, Government Hooker and Heavy Metal Lover are all pretty average. (Although I'm hoping they grow)

 

Marry The Night, Americano, Scheiße, Highway Unicorn and Electric Chapel are very promising though and I'm sure I'll grow to love them/

 

Born This Way and Judas have grown on me lately, but I still don't really think either were/are single material.

There's still room for improvement on most tracks, I'm sure a lot of them will grow though.

'Government Hooker' is the best thing she has done. Incredible.

 

'Born This Way' is by far the worst song on there. I assume they went with it for first single as they thought it was the most commercial? It obviously didn't work that well as the opinion was so divided on it though (although there is no denying it was still a big hit). I'd rather they had gone with something altogether more risky (say, Sheiße?) first.

Overall - Very solid album overall, peaks with Scheiße and loses it a bit after (Heavy Metal Lover & Edge Of Glory :heart:).

I'm the same (in reverse obviously)! To me it's such a feel good song - vocally she's having the time of her life, the melody is fantastic and it's generally a total anthem. I can look past some of the dodgier lyrics because many other pop songs have equally dodgy lyrics. I genuinely think that if she hadn't premiered the lyrics before the song people would never have decided in advance they weren't going to like it and it would be much more popular (not that I'm saying you did that of course). Plus it's a massive hit by anybody's standard so obviously the indifference to it on the internet hasn't totally translated into 'real life'.

Oh, in the chorus of Bloody Mary, she really does sounds very Sophie Ellis Bextor-y :o
