08. 'Bloody Mary' 07.0 [This is strange. I don't know if I like it or not. The dramatic "GaGa's" are amazing though.]

I think I was a bit too harsh with my rates. I'd actually give 'Edge of Glory' 8.5

 

It reminds me of so many Bruce Springsteen tracks. The song would be absolutely PERFECT if it was more stripped down & more raw.

At the end of the day though she's a popstar and it's not in her interest to release a Nashville-esque acoustic record.

True, but countless of times she has mentioned how she has been influenced by musicians such as Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Grace Jones, Debbie Harry.. I'd love to hear a more raw and grittier record from her if she was to ever release one. Who knows?

You say "raw and gritty" but juxtapose her next to anyone else in pop...

 

Who is even coming SLIGHTLY CLOSE to producing tracks like 'Scheiße' or 'Government Hooker' in the pop hemisphere?

'Black Jesus Amen Fashion' is the only good bonus track. 'Americano' has grown off me, it's so noisy and messy. A lot of faultless tracks though. 'Bloody Mary' is growing a lot too.

I agree. She has played this new album to be much more adventurous citing the above as influences so I was expecting the unexpected. I got pop music.

Mine got shipped on Thursday both versions. On HMV it says 2-5 days until it arrives but I ordered my Born This Way single and it's been nearly 2 weeks and still no sign of it..

'Highway Unicorn' is the rich man's 'The Edge of Glory' and yes, I know I'm in the smallest of minorities on this opinion.

They can send a DVD out on Monday, and I still won't get it to Friday. Prefer them to Amazon or Play though.

OMG I've only just realised she says Heavy Metal Lover in the chorus! I don't even know what I've been singing it at up til now but it definitely wasn't that..
