X Factor winner, Joe McElderry, has been working on his LP ever since he was announced the winner of X Factor. McElderry has now confirmed that his debut album will be released on October 25th. Joe has also corrected wrong reports about who he was working with on the album; he announced all of this on his Twitter account.

Confirming the date on his Twitter account Joe tweeted:

"So guys!!! I'm excited to confirm that my album will be out Oct 25!!! (sic). I can't wait for you all to hear it!! Woooooo!" Then adding the corrections to the wrong reports, on who he was working with for the debut album, he said that some people have misheard the 19-year-old and then went on to say, "Too funny. What I said was: I've been working with some amazing people that have worked with some fantastic acts such as Rihanna, p*ssy Cat Dolls, Enrique Iglesias, Cher - I'm so excited about everything!."

As well as announcing the release date of his album, McElderry and Cowell have confirmed that the album may surprise fans. The date of the release has followed a similar pattern as previous X Factor winners such as Leona Lewis and Leon Jackson. Whilst the release date of McEldderry's new album has been confirmed, information on the X Factor winner's next single is yet to be announced.

He's been working with Dallas Austin (who's produced some fantastic material over the past decade!), but I'd be surprised if Joe McElderry actually manages to have a music career.

I'm kinda unsure wether he will survive in the music business. I reckon his first single will either be #1 and drop off quickly (like Leon) and he might have a second single go Top 20. I reckon his album will go #1 and go platinum.

All the best of luck to him, hope he manages to avoid a Leon Jackson style flop.

I actually think he could do alright for himself. He's much more likeable than Leon Jackson and can also sing live which is always a bonus! It doesn't look like they've taken him down '1 man Westlife' route which they might have done 3 or 4 years back, what with the likes of Dallas Austin and Darin writing for him (the latter's new album is incredibly mature and current sounding). Leona's success completely changed the way X Factor acts are marketed, and as a result a lot of them have been so much more successful. How easy would it have been to rush out a JLS covers album in time for Mothers Day for example?

Leon was just absolutely awful, Joe's so much better, he just got lumbered with a cliched and completely uninspired lead single, and I'd be surprised if he doesn't manage a #1 single and album, which Leon didn't manage thank god.

Be interesting to see what he comes up with certainly, dont think we should write him off ala Leon Jackson quite yet.
Not sure about how long he'll last either. Depends on the type of music he makes, I guess.

I'm predicting a Leon Jackson style flop.

You know what - I'm actually not. I can see him doing a Gareth Gates, and doing fairly well for 2 albums - then FLOP.

I just don't really know what music I can see him doing that would sell big, if he goes down what is big at the moment (Electro pop/Rnb) I think it may be seen as tacky. We shall see though.

He needs to do what the Swedish boys do and just do an out and out pop (but not Same Difference style cheese) album. There's literally nobody in the UK making the type of pop that Ola/Eric Saade/Darin/Mans Zelmerlow/Danny make and it seems like an obvious gap in the market here. The fact that Darin's been writing for the album suggests to me that this could indeed happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Simon's plan is to make Joe into the UK David Archuletta. :/

He may surprise us all.

I don't know what route he could go down with the music except mid-tempo ballad's.

Be funny if he came out with some club stomper.

I think it'll be music the older generation will appreciate, an album seller as a result with front-loaded singles.

I love him but I just don't think he's interesting enough to make it beyond one hit song. He's got the package - cute, very good voice - but he lacks personality. And before anyone says it, I don't think he's amazing enough to do a Leona and manage without one.
People are actually expecting 'Album 2'? Tbh I think he would be lucky enough to get to single 2.
I'm willing to give him a chance!

This. Best of luck to him. Let's face it - very few of us expected Alex to come out with a club stomper as her first single, but she did it. Most thought she'd be another ballad girl but all her singles have been up-tempo. I do hope his first single is a pleasent surprise.

I'm very interested to hear what the sound of the album will be, i'm pretty much expecting a Will Young meets Glee kind of style though. Will he last... i don't know tbh. I think a Adam Lambert/Katy Perry sound would suit him quite well actually...
