Analysis

Go Carrie!!! The album chart sees just one debut this week in the form of the new look Sugababes going straight in at No.4!!! There are top 20 climbers from Girls Aloud and The Veronicas (who move back up to No.3) and non-movers from DHT, Shakira and Madonna in the top 20. Mash Up Mix 2006 falls a couple of place to No.5 with the aforementioned Sugababes and The Veronicas just in front!!! Corinne Bailey Rae claims a third week in the top 3 staying in 2nd place while country star and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood celebrates a fifth week in pole position overall with Some Hearts!!!

The singles chart sees a huge turnover with 6 new entries and 1 re-entry (courtesy of The Veronicas new Australian single, When it all falls apart). KT Tunstall, Kelly Clarkson, The Veronicas and Corinne Bailey Rae provide the 4 lower top 20 debuts. Beth Orton, Carrie Underwood (Whenever you remember) and Shakira leave the top 10 while Corinne and The Veronicas (Speechless) escalate the top 20 this week!!! The former No.1 from Meck falls to No.10 while Girls Aloud return to the top 10 after 11 weeks on for Whole Lotta History. Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Corinne Bailey Rae all see songs leave the top 5 this week…

Delta Goodrem storms into the top 5 with Together we are one, specially written for the Commonwealth Games at No.5 while UK dance producer Joey Negro keeps dance alive and shoots up to No.4. European singer Natasha Thomas makes an impressive first ever impact at No.3 with Skin Deep, also on the Lacoste perfume advert. The Veronicas climb back into 2nd place with 4ever on its 9th week in the top 10 meaning that Carrie Underwood does the double and gains a second week in control with Jesus take the wheel!!!
