Sir Paul McCartney is being lined up for the new series of Glee ... after sending a letter to the show's boss.

Ryan Murphy, the brains behind the TV musical comedy, revealed Macca had sent him some songs to be included in the hit show.

He said: "I received some fantastic mixtapes from Paul McCartney a couple of weeks ago. I thought I was being punked!" in a reference to a prank TV show.

And added: "It came out of the blue in a package, handwritten, and it had two CDs and it said, 'Hi Ryan, I hope you will consider some of these songs for Glee.'

"I had heard that he is a fan of the show but I was gobsmacked. Of course we are going to do something with him."

The US comedy is a hit with teens and is E4's biggest TV show of the year with up to two million viewers. The new series starts next month.

After Sir Paul appeared on last year's X-factor which I thought was a big mistake, looks like he is once again trying to get his music on the latest "flavour of the month" TV show.

I am not sure he his doing the right thing, regardless of how popular the show is.

I didn't think he could sink any lower than appearing on Fix Factor. Looks like I could be wrong :(

Totally agree with you, I can't see any need for him to get involved at all, its not as if he's short of a bob or two.
