I enjoyed it. It does admittedly feel like a very different beast, and the Hollywood influence is obvious.

But I kind of like the more "epic" and cinematic feel to it, they've now got the budget to blow up helicopters on Welsh beaches, Eve Myles is as good as ever, and it's still retained it's OMFG factor (THAT "alive" suicide bomber). I also have faith in the scriptwriting to suitably deal with all the questions/implications of "what if no-one died, ever?" - I still remember the sterling job they did with the last series (the spine-chilling and oddly plausible "If we can't identify the lowest achieving 10% children of this country, then what are the school league tables for").

I'd forgotten just how great the last series was until you reminded me of that moment, in retrospect that's probably one of the best series of anything I've seen in the past decade. I may have to buy it actually, was soooo good.

I purchased CoE (not church of England) the other day, it's only £5.49 on Play at the minute = bargain!

Wasn't too keen on tonight's episode, was a little slow, next week's looks to pick up the amazingness again.

I really enjoyed the second episode. This is my first season of watching the show, and I'm liking what I'm seeing at the moment. ^_^

I'm the same, I caught some of the last series but never continued it. I will definitely be making an effort to catch the whole series this time.

I felt I needed subtitles for some of the accents but some of the American audience might have felt the same about Eve Myles.

Her welsh accent is so light it's hardly there!

Her accent gets quite strong when she's talking fast.

Really?! I don't even notice it, since I'm Welsh and know of much stronger accents. I like her's in the show though it reminds me of Welsh newsreaders who dilute their accents. I guess it's to make sure everyone in Wales can understand them

Anyway, I found the Aeroplane scene in tonight's episode ridiculously, fabulously unrealistic! Also the broken neck walk was just amazing! I'm actually liking this series, however some of the acting seems quite wooden, anyone notice this?

I thought Bill Pulman's acting was awful.

I thought this episode was a big improvement on last weeks, next weeks finally looks like it will focus mainly on the Torchwood characters

I never knew a British person could need subtitles for such innocent american accent :o I thought it's only vice versa  However some strong southern accent are indeed a bit hard to understand at first!

It wasn't hard to understand Eve's accent but then again I've watched some of Big Brother and all the previous Torchwood series so I'm a bit equipped. Ha!

It's probably a combination of age and the fact that I don't watch much American television.

Historically, the worst offender was James Stewart. It would always take about ten minutes to tune into his accent.

The paedophile/murderer's acting was abysmal. I was sat there staring at him in confused. WTF was that?
I thought this week's was better than last, but the scene at the end with the woman's head twisted... I mean, come on?! I'm loving Esther and Vera (I think her name is, the Latin American doctor?) - I could watch Vera herself for hours. Also, Eve Myles is brilliant, also loving her accent.

It was someone who has made his name as a comedy actor trying his hand at serious acting. And failing.

It was actually painful to watch. But that is the only criticism that I have for the episode. I'm really getting into it.

Just finished part 3. It's gotten very Americanised with a much bigger budget but I'm really enjoying it so far.

Having watched the first two episodes now, I'm still not sure that this is QUITE going to match up to the previous series, but enjoyable nonetheless. The plot wasn't great; I think Torchwood is much better when exploring the human and social issues than when they try to compete with James Bond movies with action scenes and implausible gadgets - for my money the brief scenes at the hospital and the surgeon committees were far more interesting than watching the long and drawn-out Blue Peter style "wacky science" experiment aboard the plane. Having said that, I love fiesty Gwen when she gets in a tizz and the Welsh accent comes on thick; her screeching at the air stewardesses (who were also great fun) was a highlight. PR woman also looks like she's going to be providing much merriment.

Katya Kinski from Neighbours ambling around with a back-to-front head was amusing and utterly ridiculous at the same time (if only Susan Kennedy had thought of doing that sooner!) - I do wonder if they used their SFX budget up on the suicide bomber and all those explosions in the first episode.

On Bill Pullman however, I can only echo what others have said. That TV interview scene was utterly appalling and very awkward to watch. People mock John Barrowman for his OTT acting, but he's Oscar-worthy in comparison.

I was actually creeped out by Bill Pulman so i think it worked

No comments on this week's episode then? I assume, like me, you are still repulsed at the thought of John Barrowman having sex. VILE man. :puke:
