September 8, 201014 yr This is alright actually. Not as good as the likes of 'Sex On Fire' (what's with the hate?), 'Use Somebody', 'Crawl' and 'Notion'. but it's alright and like Cremey, it's good to see that they just haven't gone for the easy option and done a SOF Part2. Not bad. Not bad.
September 8, 201014 yr Thanks for posting..Interesting to see will this be a big hit or like Kasabian's Fire (a great peak but relatively low total sales) A good song. Like the choir
September 8, 201014 yr Thanks for posting..Interesting to see will this be a big hit or like Kasabian's Fire (a great peak but relatively low total sales) A good song. Like the choir Well, it's up against Joe McElderry so I wouldn't be surprised if Cowell chickens out and doesn't invite them on X Factor. I think they were on they could cause a BEP vs Leona-style upset, any other week I'd be banking on it being #1.
September 8, 201014 yr There is no way KoL would be on X Factor. It would competely ruin their credibility. Who cares if they get to #1? Getting into the Top10 would be great. They're bigger than Joe McElderly will ever be.
September 8, 201014 yr There is no way KoL would be on X Factor. It would competely ruin their credibility. Um, they kind of already did that when they recorded 'Sex On Fire'.

September 8, 201014 yr Um, they kind of already did that when they recorded 'Sex On Fire'. Why? If that hadn't have caught on the credibility would still be there. Are having credibility and selling records mutually exclusive?
September 8, 201014 yr Blah blah blah. I like them. I listen to them. I don't really care what anyone thinks about them. Especially if those said people keep repeating the same thing over and over again. It just gets boring. And the best thing is, I'm sure you (Ben) used to actually like them! Bit odd that you now say they were always terrible... erm, so we arent allowed to post our own opinions if its negative? can you please tell me the point of a forum if its all "i like this song" and nothing else, you might find it boring, i find it even more boring people constantly posting they think kings of leon are a good band, without any reasoning to it, at least ben was giving his points. oh and KOL are $h!t, and I have thought so since before the Sex on Fire days, I have thought so since I first heard his voice, the point where i wanted to rip my ears off. although sorry for posting that, i forget how this is a "kings of leon love thread", not a thread where everyone can discuss.
September 8, 201014 yr Why? If that hadn't have caught on the credibility would still be there. Are having credibility and selling records mutually exclusive? No, of course not, but to record a song like 'Sex On Fire' which goes completley against most of the songs you've recorded beforehand and attracting a huge chunk of a twattish fanbase who leave your gigs halfway through = a massive credibility loss for a band imo. I dont dislike 'Sex On Fire' as a song, but it''s just what it represents.
September 8, 201014 yr Radioactive great first single from their new album   different from Sex On Fire, this is going to be #1 in my personal chart for months and months :D
September 8, 201014 yr I don't see how that's the bands fault. Yes, 'Sex on Fire' is a massive stadium rock anthem, but in that respect it's exactly like 'On Call' or 'Fans' from the previous album. People forget that Kings of Leon were a huge band BEFORE 'Sex on Fire' was released, they'd just had a 600k selling album and had headlined Glasto less than a couple of months before it aired. Whatever they released as a lead single was going to be pretty big, it just so happened that it was anthemic enough and good enough to catch on, and attract buyers that wouldn't normally buy that type of song.
September 8, 201014 yr erm, so we arent allowed to post our own opinions if its negative? can you please tell me the point of a forum if its all "i like this song" and nothing else, you might find it boring, i find it even more boring people constantly posting they think kings of leon are a good band, without any reasoning to it, at least ben was giving his points. oh and KOL are $h!t, and I have thought so since before the Sex on Fire days, I have thought so since I first heard his voice, the point where i wanted to rip my ears off. although sorry for posting that, i forget how this is a "kings of leon love thread", not a thread where everyone can discuss. Actually it's a thread where everyone trades opinions, don't expect it to be taken kindly when you state something so subjective as fact.
September 8, 201014 yr All Ben's points boil down to is that he thinks they write misogynystic lyrics and he doesn't like their music. Fair enough. Other bands and artists from all genres have written worse. I like their music and think he's got a distinctive voice. My other half absolutely loves his voice. Each to their own. He also doesn't seem to like the fact that all they seem to write about is sex. Fair enough, I don't have a problem with that myself seeing as a great deal of music has been about f***ing since the dawn of rock 'n roll and before. I would have a problem if they were the only band available and I couldn't listen to other subject matter like for example Bathory writing about medievel Sweden and the overthrow of paganism by Christianity (mentioned because I listened to Hammerheart today) but they are not. They are a no-brain rock n' roll band who have written what I think to be good tunes, much the same reasons why I like both AC/DC and David Sylvian.
September 8, 201014 yr Actually it's a thread where everyone trades opinions, don't expect it to be taken kindly when you state something so subjective as fact. yes exactly its a thread where everyone trades opinions, i said "KOL are $h!t", that is my opinion, not fact, i did not claim it was a fact, feel free to give me a counter arguement, but in the end this is an internet forum, a place to trade opinions, to have a go at people for giving negative opinions is just absurb.

I dont dislike 'Sex On Fire' as a song, but it''s just what it represents. This has absolutely nothing to do with the band themselves. Oh and Sex on Fire hardly goes against the like of Molly's Chambers does it? Hmmm I remember this sort of thing happening before sometime around 1991 with a certain band from Seattle...
September 8, 201014 yr yes exactly its a thread where everyone trades opinions, i said "KOL are $h!t", that is my opinion, not fact, i did not claim it was a fact, feel free to give me a counter arguement, but in the end this is an internet forum, a place to trade opinions, to have a go at people for giving negative opinions is just absurb. The mere fact you didn't PHRASE it like an opinion is enough really.
September 8, 201014 yr The mere fact you didn't PHRASE it like an opinion is enough really. but as you mentioned before, them being $h!t is something that is subjective, it was quite clearly an opinion, how else does one phrase 'KOL are $h!t', for something that is subjective theres no real point to put in the uneeded effort to put 'in my opinion' every time one posts on a internet forum just because some people arent clever enough to realise one person saying one band are $h!t is an opinion, if you disagree they are $h!t, good for you, well done for having your own opinion, feel free to share it like i shared my opinion, i don't claim that everything i say is the be all and end all, in the end it's down to personal opinion if they are $h!t or not, and its my personal opinion that i posted, should i be posting a disclaimer every time saying its an opinion and not words of fact everytime i share my opinion.
September 8, 201014 yr Author erm, so we arent allowed to post our own opinions if its negative? can you please tell me the point of a forum if its all "i like this song" and nothing else, you might find it boring, i find it even more boring people constantly posting they think kings of leon are a good band, without any reasoning to it, at least ben was giving his points. oh and KOL are $h!t, and I have thought so since before the Sex on Fire days, I have thought so since I first heard his voice, the point where i wanted to rip my ears off. although sorry for posting that, i forget how this is a "kings of leon love thread", not a thread where everyone can discuss. Did I say people couldn't voice their opinions on the band? Did I f***. Yes, obviously people are free to say what they think, but is a post like this realllly necessary?: 'UGH NOT THESE f***ERS THEY SUCK AND THEY ALWAYS HAVE TERRIBLE FANBASE MISOGYNISTIC DON'T GET ME STARTED' Brilliant input. Plus, the fact that Ben didn't post in here again until the song premiered and then started again with his posts about how $h!t the band are. Why say it more than once? Surely saying 'THIS BAND IS $h!t' or whatever doesn't need repeating? It's almost like he's TRYING to get a response from the people posting in the thread who obviously ARE the fans. As for your last sentence I'll ignore it as it's ridiculously OTT.
September 8, 201014 yr 'UGH NOT THESE f***ERS THEY SUCK AND THEY ALWAYS HAVE TERRIBLE FANBASE MISOGYNISTIC DON'T GET ME STARTED' Brilliant input. He got his opinion across perfectly....
