Groove Armada are a great dance act. Their biggest hit for me was 'Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control)' whiched topped my personal chart in 2007 and finished 2nd in my Chart of 2007. :D

 

As for Rumer, it was never going to climb after just scraping into my top 40. The track is just far too bland for my liking - as you can tell from my #1s of 2010, I like songs with a bit more "oompph!!!" and tempo. Slow ballads that don't seem to progress anywhere after the first minute don't appeal to me whatsoever. Sadly 'Slow' (how apt :P ) is one of these songs.

In your personal chart? :P I've thought all along that this is a fairly decent song but can understand why Olly wouldn't be popular on Buzzjack. He's miles better than Joe McElderry - whilst Joe is technically a brilliant singer, he has zero personality. Joe is just another run-of-the-mill Gareth Gates type who belongs in the West End.

I still really like this track. Esch to their own, at least the track has held up well in the UK charts. I do question how successful Brandon's next single will be though if 'Crossfire' could only peak at #8 in the UK.

Yes, 'California Gurls' was basically 'TiK ToK' with a hilariously brilliant video. That said, I did like 'CG' (but 'TiK ToK' is better imo :P ). As for 'Teenage Dream', I just don't understand all the hype on Buzzjack surrounding this song. If it was Olly Murs singing this, everyone on Buzzjack would hate it. :lol:

Most likely, my airplay of the track has decreased a lot over the last couple of weeks. I still go through my mp3s and give it a listen every now and again. :D I'm starting to listen to 'Bang Bang' more now which is due to chart next week - I suspect the track will be a bigger hit for me compared to in the UK where it's likely to bomb. :(

Boo!!! :angry: Pepper & Piano are a breath of fresh air to reality TV music acts. Can you honestly imagine these girls auditioning on The X Factor? Well, first off 'You Took My Heart' wouldn't be performed because Simon Cowell is anti-original songs. Secondly, they got to no. 7 in the UK charts off the back of a Sky 1 show. Now if this had been shown on prime time ITV Saturday night instead, who knows what type of impact they might've had on the charts today. No doubt they will plummet down the UK chart next week but I can see 'YTMH' sticking around in my chart.

Ooh, I'll have to check out your latest chart. :o Yes, Hurts was originally released in January although iirc it was only a limited release but I'd already been introduce to Hurts thanks to GD who was charting them late 2009. So they benefitted from, imo, a crap time for the UK charts and big European releases took charge instead. :lol: Ultimately, Hurts are now riding high across Central Europe whilst peaking at #21 here. -_- Go figure!!!

 

I only stumbled across 'History' as it was on the release schedule but quite like the track. I wouldn't say it's worthy of #1 for me - it's good but, for me, there's far too much echo of Will Young's vocals. I do like the live Jools Holland version on YouTube, you can actually hear what Will is singing without all those vocal effects going on. :lol:

Pepper & Piano auditioned on a new "X Factor" style show on Sky 1 called Must Be The Music. It's obviously taken far more seriously than The X Factor as MBTM is aiming to discover the next big artist who can write their own songs, and isn't an irritating pair of Irish twins going by the name Jedward. Sadly this is now what The X Factor has reduced itself too. I long for the days where The X Factor discovers the next Leona Lewis and that contestant goes on to win. Too many great singers get booted out in favour for some horrible $h!ts that can't sing but are appearntly "entertaining". Irony is...they don't entertain me. Epic fail.[/rant] :lol: Anyways, I really hope Pepper & Piano do become successful in their own right - would bring new depth to the whole "reality TV music act" brand.

'California Gurls' is much better. Although personally I prefer 'I Kissed A Girl' and 'Hot N Cold' which is Katy Perry's most successful single in my chart despite peaking at #3.

I guess the UK marlet just aren't interested in this type of music. There have been a few British acts in recent years who have had limited UK success but have ultimately gained a bigger fan base across Europe. Hurts, Amy Macdonald, Editors. Even Robbie Williams is more popular in Europe than the UK. :lol:

I wouldn't say this is "weak". It's just not as strong as her previous hits 'Sweet About Me', 'Warm This Winter' and 'On A Mission'. At least this song charted. I couldn't stand Gabriella's last single 'Hearts Don't Lie'. There was no tune whatsoever and she sounded like a strangled cat in the chorus. Now that was a seriously abysmal choice of single. :mellow:

Kanye has always very much hit n' miss in my chart. For every great song ('Gold Digger', 'Stronger') there's other tracks that just don't appeal to me whatsoever. This is the middle ground - I don't hate the song to the point it's not even a contender for the "top 100" ( :P ) but yet don't think it's good enough to even go top 20.

They might follow Rumer in the Official charts next week, Rumer dived a far bit today, I guess P&P will follow suit. :P

 

I can't even compare the two songs. 'Slow' is seriously MOR to the point I'm bored halfway through the song. 'You Took My Heart' starts softly and gradully builds up to a massive chorus right at the end. The fact Pepper & Piano have emerged from a reality TV show means bugger all to me. It's all about the "music" and imo, 'You Took My Heart' is by far the better song.

 

It's also a foregone conclusion that Pepper & Piano would plummet. However, they will perform again in the live final - bet you any money the track shoots back up the charts again after the live final in 2 weeks time. Even moreso if they actually win the competition. ;)

Well I'm not exactly the biggest Miley Cyrus fan (I know, how dare thee :drama: ) so I wasn't a big fan of 'The Climb' first time round. Joe McElderry just sounded far too angelic on his version - I like male artists who sound like "men" rather than "angels". *shrug* If you're a choirboy I can understand but by 18 angelic male voices is not appealing to me.
