September 8, 201015 yr I'd really like to see their chart runs in those foreign countries cause so far I haven't really seen a proof of their success "worldwide".Mcfly have a massive fanbase over in Brazil(as was mentioned on GMTV on Friday) they have won some awards and have played on some of their Biggest shows “Radio:Active” has received a platinum sales status certification for sales of over 60,000 copies in the Brazil, "Lies" and "One For The Radio" also received a platinum sales status certification for sales of over 100,000. September 8, 201015 yr I'd really like to see their chart runs in those foreign countries cause so far I haven't really seen a proof of their success "worldwide". I have to agree I like to keep up to date with International charts and I have not see them make an appearance in a while. In the US Taio and Jay Sean have had success.Robbie, Cheryl, Alexandra have had recent chart success in Europe. I have seen Tinnie even Professor Green but yet to see McFly.
September 8, 201015 yr McFly were also nominated for a MTV Latin America Award. EDIT: They lost out to Lady Gaga. Edited September 8, 201015 yr by sasha2
September 8, 201015 yr Author These X Factor stars are taking some very unfashionable genres to #1 recently. Two reggae influenced pop #1's in a row, it's like we've been transported back to 1994! Chaka Demus & Pliers
September 8, 201015 yr It is driving R1 crazy that Alex is No 1, Aled Jones has gone on the attack on twitter.Full mid-week chart. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/update/singles

Who knows, maybe the rival talent show will beat it to #1?" He seemed a bit bitter about it.

It beggers belief really if she is No 1 on Sunday so be it it is only pop music .R1 are taking it badly that she is still having hits without them.
September 8, 201015 yr Your analysis is not really right or fair. Winning the Mercury Prize is great publicity and it will be all over the papers, so it will allow the XX to reach a wider audience. So far their success was pretty much confidential in the UK, and it is snobbery to blame people for not knowing some music act. Not everyone in the UK has the time/interests in spending the day browsing music forums and all, we can't blame them for being sometimes late on some albums and artists. It's not that people will buy it because they're told to, they will buy it because thanks to the Mercury Prize they will have finally heard about it, liked it, and wanted to buy it. And yes anyway, looking at the history of the Mercury Prize, you can tell the winners are generally quite good, or at least worth a listen. It's like if one of your best friends (that you know has great taste is music) tells you that this album is great and you should listen to it. You will give it a listen and if you like you might buy it. The whole "people are sheeps buying what they're told to" is so old now. We should look more into it and go further than this simple explanation. Agree completely with this. X Factor is just another forum in which people hear music. Maybe a lot of the same songs are repeated on that show, but then again the same songs seem to be on radio all the time too  Do some people on this forum really think that, in the midst of the credit crunch, viewers of the show go out and buy a song performed on the show on the basis that even although they don't like it, the judges said the performance was brilliant? If so, that "logical" argument is laughable, it really is. Yet every so often someone brings it back up, to add to their anti X-factor propaganda. Maybe the X Factor is tiresome to some, but so equally are the regurgitated comments from the anti X-Factor brigade.

Of course R1 are taking it badly though - the X Factor is up against their prime time BBC1 shows on a Saturday night and they'd literally do anything to try to sabotage it. Pathetic really. And they've got no chance of winning  as not playlisting some of the most popular artists in the current will simply end up with viewers listening to other stations. :heehee:

It is one thing if Top 10 hits are regularly left off the playlist but that makes 4 No 1's they have missed.
September 8, 201015 yr 38 Linkin Park :o nice surprise there :cheer: really hope they hold on edit: just realised they were there yesterday, Im so slow :kink: Edited September 8, 201015 yr by chart wizard
September 8, 201015 yr I doubt the majority of Radio 1 really care about a chart to be honest  probably not the best place to ask this but why does every Burke song have to be A-Listed on R1 and get high in the charts? it's not as if she won't get to make another album with one flop single. I'd say somebody like Vickers is more on the bubble because her album sales haven't taken off in the way her label might have expected and therefore she needs the higher single positions then again I guess it's just people obsessed with artists and want them to get success in every way which is understandable but I don't understand why every single release needs to go high or get the radio to play it. Seems to be the same with JLS and bands like that
September 8, 201015 yr Stone Sour were probably just missing sales yesterday, a similar thing happened with B.o.B's album, about #38 first mids then #16? the next day
September 8, 201015 yr Wow Stone Sour doing very well in the albums! Great to see so many modern metal acts - Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed and now Stone Sour - making an impact :)
September 8, 201015 yr Stone Sour were probably just missing sales yesterday, a similar thing happened with B.o.B's album, about #38 first mids then #16? the next day Either that or they have double-counted some sales today. There's no way yesterday's and today's positions can both be right.
September 8, 201015 yr i would love mc fly to miss the top 5 in the singles come sunday. They will. They'll probably end up low top 10.
