Shayne did have it all and a competent label could have done wonders for him.He had a successful career but the 3rd album campaign was as bad as Joes.It has been going downhill for the past three years I do not know what he has actually been doing in all that time.

Shayne was actually good and had potential as a pop star - I think Syco really stitched him up, they did OK with him at first, but then they waited three years by which time everyone had forgotten him- and what did they give him? a Nickelback cover :manson: this dropping was inevitable- maybe if he was on a different label, he could've done better

After five very successful years and an international career WHERE??

Sad. People vote for all of them but still not gonna buy whatever they give them. Maybe wrong management or song choices, but still X-Factor is all about money. I guess only a few can become successful from this 15 minutes of fame show. Sad cause actually there are a bunch of people that truly deserve success.

I reckon 'X Factor' will soon destroy what it's created and the show will stop within 5 years, like Big Brother.
just realised that's all of the male XF winners now dropped (Steve, Leon, Joe and now Shayne  ) except Matt :o I hope he can turn the tide
Great to see everyone realising about Cowell what Will Young fans have always known. The man has no loyalty & isn't interested in allowing an artist to develop. All he's after is making a quick buck then moving onto the next one on the conveyor belt. I'd fear for the future of any artist on his label, particularly now his ambitions lie over the pond. Thank goodness Will saw him for what he was in that first year.
It's probably the best thing that could happen to him, perhaps he'll be able to find a label that is actually interested in developing him as an artist. He's always had a lot of potential IMO.

I think everyone knew this about Cowell - but the man isn't worth wasting valuable typing time on Truly!

His album flopped badly as did his new single despise being Heavily promoted.

Matt's different he has a rock side to him yet the other male winners have nothing different about them tbh.

Honestly I doubt Matt will fare much better than the other male winners of XF. He's a nice chap (as was Shane) but he has nothing new to offer other than being a bloke with a decent voice who has had an 'easy ride' via the X-Factor.

Believe it or not, Shayne Ward did actually enjoy success in Europe. Well, Sweden and Norway where his cover of 'No Promises' was a top 20 hit. Hardly "international" but that's still two more countries than Steve Brookstein/Leon Jackson/Joe McElderry ever achieved. :D

He's very popular in parts of Asia (he's been to China several times, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand), he did well in South Africa and has had hits in Denmark and Sweden, and believe it or not he's hugely popular in North Africa and the Middle East! Look on his Facebook if you don't believe me. Unfortunately he was never promoted in the major music buying markets like the US, and Germany or most of Europe. Where he received even a small bit of promotion he had success, so that must say something.

He was a talented guy, and more importantly HOT. But you can't count on Syco for more than two albums these days.

I disagree, Shayne wasn't heavily promoted at all with his third single/album, for a start he didn't get any radio airplay and hardly any other promo, similar to Joe Mcelderry really but that's another story. I'd also say that shayne had 2 very successful years, but then spent the next 3 years sat on his butt and twiddling his thumbs on his Twitter acount. As for Matt being different because he has a rock side to him, I suppose we'll see how long he lasts, it didn't do much for Tabby Callaghan or Ben Mills.

I really Matt doesn't get dropped :( By far the best male XF winner, though he pales in comparison to Leona/Alex  I just hope Matt can be 'credible' and reach a wider audience!

Male acts can do well, look how well Olly Murs has done with his debut. Matt Cardle will do well, Shayne Ward just became irrelevant, his music didnt keep up wth the times and his label never had hope in him so how was he going to do well. He was given s**t material tbh, not one great song.

This news doesnt surprise me in the slightest.

Matt lost anychance of being seen as credible the second he went on the xfactor

Matt will have a No1 off his first album. Do at least not get dropped. And have a Top10 Hit off his second single.
It doesnt surprise me Shayne has been dropped. There was a distinct lack of proper investment by the record company into his latest album. It only included 10 tracks, wasnt promoted very well and the lead single was a poor choice. Its almost like Cowell and Co had given up on him. After a 3 year break, he needed to come back with something bigger and stronger than he was given, so I don't think its any fault of Shaynes that he didnt do well. Cowell is probably more interested in finding the next hot one minute wonder piece of talent so he can make a quick buck, before dropping them and moving on. He's not interested in developing artists over a long period...

It's a bit early to start touting Olly Murs as a success story. Shayne was as equally successful with his debut album. That's the easy bit. It's surviving after the initial hype has died down that is doubly difficult with Cowell holding the reins & not interested in developing long term artists. The artist needs to have a strong sense of identity & steely determination to steer their own career path. Things Shayne sadly lacked.
