Posted September 23, 201014 yr Friday 1st October Just 12 weeks to Christmas! The usual selection of charts based on average sales & positions for the week. All put together by the incredible team at DTR (a non profitting Radio Group). This will be the last one from me for a bit (Hurray, you cry!) because I've got to have a holiday in the sun before Winter. I shall hand over my account to Alan for next week. I wonder why! Bruce Forsyth was on his 2nd series of the re-vamp Friday night showing "Generation Game". I'm never a fan of shows that come back years later, but perhaps I'd make an exception in Bruce's case. Although, Jim Davidson killed it later with his enormous ego & childish atempt at humour. The Scorpions were robbed of that number one spot & only Kiri Te Kanawa could stop Bryan. Although on the London Chart, the Scorpions did spend 2 weeks at the top. 1991 also gave the first Midweek chart to listen to via Capital FM. On a Wednesday it were, with someone called Neil Fox. Much better days for Independant Radio...before they decided to totally make up the charts! Although in 1991, Mariah Carey's "Emotions" did hop up to number 6 on Capital's Local top 40, while it barely scraped top 20 on the Network Chart (still introduced by David Kid Jensen at this point). I don't recall Tina Turner re-entrying the chart, but she did apparently. The rather splendid version of Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me by Oleta Adams, was so much better that George Michael fella's, while the PJB version of Bridge Over Troubled Water was just total garbage, already ruin by Linda Clifford some 12 years before. 01 01 EVERYTHING I DO - BRYAN ADAMS 02 03 LOVE TO HATE YOU - ERASURE 03 02 LET'S TALK ABOUT S** - SALT N'PEPA 04 06 PEACE - SABRINA JOHNSTON 05 09 EVERYBODYS FREE TO FEEL GOOD - ROZALLA 06 05 INSANITY - OCEANIC 07 27 WIND OF CHANGE - SCORPIONS 08 13 SOMETHING GOT ME STARTED - SIMPLY RED 09 14 SUCH A FEELING - BIZARRE INC 10 10 CAN'T STOP THIS THING WE STARTED - BRYAN ADAMS 11 24 SALTWATER - JULIAN LENNON 12 16 SUCH A GOOD FEELING - BROTHERS IN RHYTHM 13 08 SUNSHINE ON A RAINY DAY - ZOE 14 17 NUTBUSH CITY LIMITS - TINA TURNER 15 31 JACKY - MARC ALMOND 16 18 ONE I LOVE - R.E.M. 17 11 WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ME - UTAH SAINTS 18 15 CREAM - PRINCE 19 04 I'M TOO SEXY - RIGHT SAID FRED 20 NE BEST OF YOU - KENNY THOMAS 21 22 BRIDGE OF TROUBLED WATER - PJB/HANNAH AND HER SISTERS 22 07 DON'T CRY - GUNS N ROSES 23 36 LIVE YOUR LIFE BE FREE - BELINDA CARLISLE 24 12 CHARLY - PRODIGY 25 33 DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME - OLETA ADAMS 26 50 I THINK I LOVE YOU - VOICE OF THE BEEHIVE 27 32 TRY - BROS 28 30 FEEL EVERY BEAT - ELECTRONIC 29 19 20TH CENTURY BOY - T.REX 30 20 GETT IT OFF - PRINCE 31 40 LIVE FOR LOVING YOU - GLORIA ESTEFAN 32 42 INTERNAL EXILE - FISH 33 39 IS IT GOOD FOR YOU - HEAVY D AND THE BOYZ 34 44 I BELONG TO YOU - WHITNEY HOUSTON 35 21 LOVE...THY WILL BE DONE - MARTIKA 36 NE TOO MANY WALLS - CATHY DENNIS 37 NE NO MORE TEARS - OZZY OSBOURNE 38 NE LOVE'S A LOADED GUN - OZZY OSBOURNE 39 23 MAKIN HAPPY - CRYSTAL WATERS 40 NE SPECIAL WAY - RIVER CITY PEOPLE The Top Pre-Order Singles this week: 01 01 SHAME - ROBBIE AND GARY 4th Oct 02 NE f*** YOU - CEE LO GREEN 4th Oct 03 02 RADIO ACTIVE - KOL 4th Oct 04 NE PERFECT STRANGER - MAGNETIC MAN/KATY BRIEN 4th Oct 05 05 I'LL BE THERE - STAND 25th Oct The Top Pre-Order Albums this week 01 01 COME AROUND SUNDOWN - KOL 18th Oct 02 03 IN AND OUT OF CONSCIOUSNESS - ROBBIE WILLIAMS 11th Oct 03 04 DISC-OVERY - TINIE TEMPAH 4th Oct 04 02 tba - TAKE THAT 22nd Nov 05 08 SEASONS OF MY SOUL - RUMER 1st Nov Not discounting Rumer here. Can anyone help with a good memory? The other day a bunch of us were discussing TV Sitcoms. We were try to rack our brains into which Sitcom had this plot: The people of the house can't afford a holiday, but want the rest of the street to think they are on holiday. So, they go out of the front door & double back round to the back door. They go back in the house & try to stay out of sight for a week, not switching on any lights or anything. Can anyone remember which Sitcom featured that Storyline? I've been trying all week & I can't get it. I thought it may have been "Sykes", but don't think it was.

October 1, 201014 yr Did you forget to update the date or is it only Radioactive's download brought forward to next week? 4 of next week's 5 biggest new entries (all are likely to be top 10) make up the top 4 pre-orders, and the 5th is download only. :D Edited October 1, 201014 yr by ~ braysephone ~

And who needs Tony Blackburn for vintage hits, as he surprises everyone by returning to BBC National Radio, for the first time since 1984. Join Richard Todd for a nip back to the complete top 40 from October 1964, this Sunday at 2pm on Atlantic Oldies 2NG.
October 1, 201014 yr Wow, next week is going to be HUGE! :o are Take That anywhere in the pre-orders?
October 1, 201014 yr Anyway, great that we'll have 2 drum n bass songs in the top 40 this week from Danny Byrd and DJ Fresh. I hope atg least one of the two can be top 30 on Sunday but really GD being so high on its ninth week is incredible, and it's great Danny B has finally cracked the top 40 after SH missed out.
October 1, 201014 yr I don't recall Tina Turner re-entrying the chart, but she did apparently. 14 17 NUTBUSH CITY LIMITS - TINA TURNER This was a dance remake of the track that got released. I remember seeing the video all the time on MTV Europe back then. It's...different. :D

Not sure how old the one you're thinking of (prsumably 'very' given you suggest Sykes) but Beautiful People did it recently
October 1, 201014 yr Well done Kylie on the phyisical number 1, us kylie fans really love her phyisical releases. Good to see eastenders beating corrie again this week.
October 1, 201014 yr Author Not sure how old the one you're thinking of (prsumably 'very' given you suggest Sykes) but Beautiful People did it recently That was what brought it up. Someone was talking about Beautiful People (cos it's set Reading), but I remember the story be used before. Certainly over the last 30 years, that why I don't think it was Sykes. The Sykes storyline (abeit holiday) concerns Eric & Hat going to the airport & missing the plane, then spending a week at Gatwick airport. It's been nagging on me all week.
October 1, 201014 yr Author Hold on, I think I've finally got the answer. "To The Manor Born", suddenly sprung to me!
October 1, 201014 yr Hold on, I think I've finally got the answer. "To The Manor Born", suddenly sprung to me! Actually I was thinking of "Bless This House" with Sid James  for some reason, its the type of thing Sid would do.
October 1, 201014 yr Hold on, I think I've finally got the answer. "To The Manor Born", suddenly sprung to me! It definitely happened in that programme.
