So did Shirley's cat - the noisy neighbour murdered it remember!

HAHA what a dire storyline that was!

Why are they killing Lydia off? She's only been in it five minutes!

I would guess Lydia was only ever brought in specifically for this plot; to be bumped off and spark off the Janine "murder" case.

Oh I didn't know about the last part of that spoiler :o

Them filming in Southend ties into two storylines. Dot reuniting with her sister and the return of Whitney's Pimp Rob.

I'd tune in with interest if it was Whitney reuniting with a long lost sister and seeing the return of Dot's pimp!

Guys, I havent watched EastEnders for a while. How is David Essex? Any good? And has Christian stopped being a MOANY MARY.

Christian was absolutely INSUFFERABLE this week. If you can believe it he had yet another moment of 'accidentally letting something slip' ie being a RAGING GOSSIP.

Christian is an insufferable character anyway. Soaps make gay characters incredibly unlikeable i find. Push the stereotypes to an extreme. I think Hollyoaks portrayals of John Paul was a winner for me.

John-Paul was hardly likeable, and I never understood why all the internet gays looned over him.

He was a selfish sod who actively went out of his way to seduce the fiance of one of his supposed friends. And then went actively out of his way to seduce a priest.

I know he was "in love" and all that, but his character was JUST as self-driven, destructive and needy as Christian, if not more so.

But at least he was hot!

(Emphasis on was, by the time Emmerdale came around James Sutton had lost his twinky good looks).

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't find Christian appealing in the least either. Syed however...
David Essex is awful imo, I'm already fed up of Eddie and Michael... And it's PAINFULLY obvious where the storyline was going!

Great episode

Janine really is one of those rare Bitch characters who is shown to actually have a heart. It's clear her mother's death as a child caused an effect on her behaviour past and present.

Such a good episode tonight; Janine and Lydia have really made EastEnders for me in the past few months, and it's such a shame to have her pass away.

It really was a brilliant episode.

I love the episodes that aren't just featuring the usual daytime events in the square. Having the three separate stories running through the episode worked so well. Janine has really grown on me. I'd always loved her as a character but found it hard to feel any sympathy towards her as a consequence of the situations she always manages to find herself in. This time I really do feel sympathy towards her though and I just know that is only going to grow as the storyline this week progresses.

Amazing episode. Amazing. Obviously some good stuff with Max/Vanessa and Fatboy but the episode really belonged to Janine and Lydia. Beautiful pairing. The camerawork at the end as Janine was looking out over the square made me kind of emotional for some reason and even though it was apparent Lydia had gone at that point it was still shocking to witness. Again - amazing episode.

While Janine was on the window sill Lydia could be seen both blinking and breathing. Just saying.
Proper amazing ep  Especially Janine, though she can be a bitch I can't help but really feel sorry for her (not just tonight but at lots of points)! That's what makes her so great for me - probably my favourite EE character tbh. Lydia was fabulous too, wish she stayed a bit longer, although I'm sure the rest of the SL will be brilliant!
