Posted September 28, 201014 yr http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/8425/bannerthingd.png CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE FOUND LADY BUZZJACK! -------------------------------------- On DS there was a case of a woman on benefits who could afford to take her kids to 2 theme parks in a week in the summer, my sister could only afford 2 visits the entire summer for her kids to theme parks so it made me realise how morally wrong it is that people on benefits can afford such treats while those in work barely can Is there a good case for benefits instead of being in cash that they are paid in vouchers that can be redeemed at supermarkets for food and at rail and bus stations for travel ? That way those on benefits can still eat and travel to interviews but can't have treats that even working people can barely afford
September 28, 201014 yr And once again Craig comes into the good old fashioned Tory delusion that everything is the same in every part of the country..... Mate, if I had my way, no white people would be on benefits, they should be first for jobs init.
September 28, 201014 yr and how many supermarkets and train stations do you think are going to be happy reciving vouchers as payment and then having to go through the trouble of getting the money back from the government.
September 28, 201014 yr We do this with the Council in Brighton with vouchers for housing redecoration. Suffice to say they're a pain in the arse to process and the council NEVER pay their bill on time. We end up putting a stop on their account and get loads of council tenants moaning at us because we refuse to serve them until they do. Fun...

This is being trialled in Germany atm, benefit claimants are issued with a swipe card that is topped up fortnightly and that swipe card can be used in participating retailers such as supermarkets and transport and can't be redeemed for cash nor can alcohol or tobacco be purchased. I think a similar thing could work here Edited September 28, 201014 yr by I ❤ JustinBieber
September 28, 201014 yr I can see Sainsbury's et al just loving the idea of collecting vouchers from the jobless to have to then wait 7million years for the Tories to pay them their dues.
September 28, 201014 yr They should just re-introduce the workhouse and have done with it. While they're at it ... anyone having more than two kids can send the smallest ones up chimneys ... like in the good old days. Sorry to be flippant but ... Kath
September 28, 201014 yr We have Government Assisstance vouchers here that are legal tender. They are good because they limit what a person can buy: no alcohol or cigarettes and they make sure that people use it on essentials
September 28, 201014 yr Author We have Government Assisstance vouchers here that are legal tender. They are good because they limit what a person can buy: no alcohol or cigarettes and they make sure that people use it on essentials That would make sense for sure if it was introduced in this country Would help the NHS too if the non working people had no access to cigs and booze so double the advantage
September 28, 201014 yr When I was working at A'da, we had people who were given healthystart vouchers for children from the government that were to be processed, which were for fresh vegetables and milk for their children. Needless to say, there was several people who would go through the self-service checkout and attempt to buy junkfood and alcohol using their vouchers, and attempting to validate it by buying 10p of carrots. Needless to say, it brought great pleasure to myself telling them where they could shove their vouchers (in the nicest possible sense). Thankfully they were the minority, and most people used their vouchers the correct way.

Good stuff I think for sure some sort of system where the jobless get either vouchers or a pre pay swipe card to the value of their benefits which can only be used in certain establishments and only on certain things would work It would end the unfairness of hard working people seeing the jobless have luxuries and treats the working people can't afford and it would improve their health as they couldn't spend it on lager and cigarettes and McDonalds
